For where we are, with a maximum of 25k that isn't bad. You are complaining about the size compared to other clubs, yet the clubs on your list, are increasing based on the success they have achieved.Something we have said we will do up to 25k. This is the maximum, and it isn't too small based on our history imo?

Exactly history not the future
They will be by passing our 25k and when you look at their history it doesn't merit as well
However they are doing it because they have that demand now as we will if we get to the Prem.
15k fir now us riddiculous abd I have yet to see a justification as to why our starting point is so low.
If we genuinely believe we will be in the championship after this season.

So in in 5 out of 36 years we have averaged above 20,000? So we are basing our attendances on being above 25,000 on what facts exactly?
People are taking the 15,000 as maximum, it can increase to over 20k with promotions?

Sixteen seasons in 52 years have had average gates over 20k. Three of those seasons we averaged over 30k. Those were the seasons we had success. Make the club successful we will get the fans. Are our plans to succeed or are we planning mediocrity at best?
The rise to 25k depends on Sisu keeping their word that this will happen. Would you trust Sisu?

Flags are not a major issue...... Compete with on such minor things it isn't difficult takes little time or money........ Far more important things for fans to get their head round

We won't make it to the premier league as Grendel says with with Sisu in charge so that is an irrelevant question.
People act as though we are going to achieve success with our current owners? Look how much money teams are spending and still battling relegation in the championship.
If we were to be promoted to the championship. While in the first season, for the first few home games we might sell out. I 100% guarantee that we would hover around the 15-18k mark,probably when we are fighting a relegation battle.

Waggot's budgeting was wrong, even averaging over 11k meant we were overspending last season Anderson confirmed that. We cannot afford to keep renting unless we get access to ALL of the revenue streams, in some form.
Some people need to get it in their heads, that we are not a 'big' club, in fact we are a rather disappointing club, given the fact we are a one club city, with a population of over 200,000 and yet our support is rather mediocre. Yes we have the potential to be a big club. But we aren't now, and renting the Ricoh does not make us bigger. I like the stadium. But it isn't a home, there is nothing for us at the there unless we are able to get some sort of long-term deal with benefits. I don't like the idea of a smaller stadium, but it is a step forward. It will at least be partly owned by us, we will have access to all types of revenue, the atmosphere should improve, and our future would be in our own hands.

We have had a gradual increase in the last 3 seasons... Does that mean we are going to keep growing and in 20 years time we are going to be selling out 32,000 seats?
Also notice we were in the premier league, we are a long way off that, and we will never get there until Sisu leave and that is a long way off. So if it's selling out a 20-25k stadium in the championship I can handle fans being disappointed, because if they can't be bothered to support us now, why should i care if they don't get a seat when we are doing well? Exactly, we missed out on the high attendances of the post 2000 premier league. If we had of remained in the Prem until we moved to the Ricoh, there would be the influx of fans visiting, even from abroad, so our average attendances would have increased IMO.

I'm not denying we have an average gate of 12.5K (this season), but as soon as we get close to success, the support is there. I know it's frustrating to fans who go every week without fail, when these fans reappear, but they will always come when the team is doing well, and surely we aim to do well as a club? Not stay in mid League 1 level just so we can have our small stadium full?

The bottom line is we aren't even near the premiership let alone the championship.

Without ground ownership no one will want to own the club. The billionaire at Bournmouth bought them and always would above us in a rented ground whatever the capacity.

Oh and I couldn't care less about the premier league.

Are we that far off the championship though? We could, and should, have finished at least in the play offs this season after the first half.

What are you aiming for this coming season? 8th again?

Rugby, specifically, always supported Coventry though.
As Nick and I have said 10000 times. Fill the current stadium and then complain, don't complain when it is 1/3rd full

Wouldn't say last season determines how close we are to the Championship. New team, new league, new set of fixtures. If we had has the same squad plus or minus a couple I would agree, but it will be a brand new team. We are as close tot he championship as at any other point since relegation.

As I have said a million times. If we have the season I think we may have next season. We will suppose 15k regularly in the latter third of the season.
Regarding the question about if you were born in Coventry. I was surprised when you said a city of over 200000.
It is over 300000.

No that's fair comment
There is around a 500k population to be tapped into. Obviously they are not all football fans.
So your mate is right it is very embarrassing that we can't seem to put a product out there to tap into it.
Next season I think we may. However that is tapered a bit by the fact it's just third division football.
However you are right it beeds some investment once you are in the championship if you want to be a serious outfit.
If we stick with the policy that te club pays for itself. Then we probably won't be serious contenders.
However if we have our own stadium.
Many seem to think this is the only thing stopping our owners selling the club.
So maybe the new owners will want to invest. Maybe then we will start tapping into the huge potential fan base that is out there .

Even with our own stadium, I don't think we are an attractive club, I don't agree with moving stadium I want to make that clear. Personally, I think if we owned the Ricoh then we would be an attractive investment. Owning the butts wouldn't be surely?
While I believe the initial capacity is fine based on current attendance and history, and it would be hugely helpful, as a club that needs to be self-sufficient, I agree with the move on the premise, that Sisu are owners, with whom I see at best, Coventry City yo-yoing between league one and Championship.

So basically, with current owners, stadium plans are fine, if we got new owners, I would agree, it isn't viable, but I don't think we can complain given we never sell-out.

Because we are crap and have been crap for at least 15 years plus.

Pretty much every club in the country would get mediocre crowds if they had over 15 years of failure.

Your team keeps losing, crowds dwindle. Simple really.

Yes but even before those 15 years Otis, we have never consistently averaged over 20,000?
I agree it is simple why we have low crowds, and understandable, and yes the Ricoh is fantastic stadium, but this season is the only one I have enjoyed in having a packed stand, but still I hate seeing an entire stand empty. I would rather we fill a stadium, than have it two thirds empty, and we get no revenue.

In 87 when we won the cup- 16,120?
Year later our best finish, 7th, in Div one -17.509

Exactly IF we get success.
I agree, but we won't with our current owners. The best we can get is a promotion out of this league.
With out current owners, our only option, is to own our stadium at least in some part. If that means downgrading, then personally I see that as our only option.
We are getting nothing except 23 matches at the Ricoh and a meagre percentage of parking and a bit of food sales. With our current owners we will not be successful to the extent where we get 30,000 fans consistently.
I'm saying 25,000 is more than enough, for our level, for a championship campaign and only under our current owners. Nothing more.

Liverpool are but that's Liverpool, other teams I believe are looking to move to bigger or
expand there current capacity are , Norwich, palace, West Ham, Leicester, Swansea,
Man city, Bournemouth, Everton, hull ,there may be others .
