Blues defender prepared to be patient in recovery from injury
Scott Dann is prepared to write off the rest of the season and target a return to action in 2011/12.
There had been some suggestion that the defender could be drafted back into the Birmingham fold before the end of the current campaign.
He has not figured since tearing his hamstring during a Carling Cup semi-final clash with West Ham in early January, but is making steady progress in his recovery.
Dann, though, believes there is no point rushing back and risking suffering a further setback.
With that in mind, he is keen to concentrate on getting a good pre-season under his belt and ensuring that he is 100 per cent for the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
Pointless
Dann said:
"I think at this stage of the season, it would be pointless trying to rush back into it for one game. I want to be out there playing but it's not worth the risk so close to the end of the season.
"I'm fit and doing everything now. I'm back out working with the ball. I'll be training with the lads before long but, as for match time, I don't think so.
"Hopefully the lads can get the points to make them mathematically safe."
Dann added:
"The rehab has gone well but when I did the injury, I knew I'd be out for the rest of the season.
"I just set my mind on getting myself fit, pushing myself hard so I'll be ready for the start of next season."
