Season over? (1 Viewer)

Feels like it doesn't it? Especially in the stands. All very 'meh'

Let's be honest. We aren't going to trouble the top 8. Maybe get a top half finish if we have a decent January. Play offs is no longer achievable unless we suddenly turn into prime Barcelona (no chance of that with this lot)

However, we clearly aren't shit enough to go down. I was worried about that until we played Hull and Plymouth and seeing just how shite they are made me feel very confident we will be ok

Have you written this season off yet?

Totally meh. The football is safe but not exciting.

Mindest is a wonderful thing , obviously we finished 16th and 12th in this division in the last 4 years but that top 6 finish seems to have altered quite a bit amongst the fanbase .. as alluded to before there is now an expectation and an entitlement and unfortunately that's what happens .

If we finished 10th that would be one of the better seasons in the last couple decades but that's no longer acceptable

Biggest frustration is that today, Cardiff and Portsmouth are all games we should have been looking at getting all 3 points

The table is so tight just doing that would have had us sat just outside the playoffs with the window about to open

It isn't when the owner has promised better, I get the point though. It's 17th again imo.

It’s completely fair for the fans to share the expectations that have been laid out by the owner. We’ve showed up in our thousands in the knowledge that the club expects to be challenging for the playoffs.

Sure , but sometimes things don't go as planned

No. The league is still close, we’re only 9 points off the top 6. And our best forwards are out.

EMC - Wright - Sakamoto front line could shoot us up the league.

We do need to put a run together now though.

9 points is a big gap to bridge with so many teams above us. We could win the next 5 and still not be in the play off mix. We're struggling to win more than one in a row atm. I'd say our chances of top 6 are close to zero at this stage, nothing I have seen suggests we'll put a crazy run together and better the records of all 8 teams above us before the end of the season. Top half would be a reasonable return.

I don’t think the season’s over but Pompey and today have been very disappointing, especially Pompey.

Am I right in saying that’s 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats in FLs first 7 games?

11 points from 21…not PO form and we’ve had arguably an easy run of fixtures.

I guess we can hope for continued improvement in some players, the return of Wright and the fact that this years league seems more open as anyone can beat anyone.

I’ve not given up hope of sneaking a PO place but it’s going to take a barnstorming 2nd half of the season and continued weird results in the division.

Oh, and some decent incomings in the transfer window. Always have faith.

Not saying it’s likely, just not time to write off the season with 22 games to play.

11 from 7 is arguably playoff form over a whole season (1.6 ppg). Opposition hasn’t been amazing though and he doesn’t have a full season.

I’ve accepted its mid table mediocrity. We’re no better than that on current viewing & form, hard to argue we’ll improve substantially unless we manage to snag some players in Jan that change the trajectory.

Not putting this on Lampard as he dealt the cards he has. Yet can’t see him getting much out of players that have already shown capabilities this season to date.

Unfortunately the lacklustre performances are contributing to atmosphere in stands both home/away. When there’s little to get behind it is & will feel very meh.

Like I said in another , we haven't got another block of fixtures as easy as the 8 we are about to come through after Cardiff

Frank couldn't have asked for a better start

Why is the season a write off just because we might not have a happy clappy day out at Wembley. Aim to finish as high as possible, try get some confidence in some of the players. Honestly only 4 years ago we were happy to stay in this league. One freak season in 22/23 and expectations have become ridiculous

Tbf i think a lot of that was caused by the owner pre season.

A promo campaign stating the aim was promotion. Open soundbites from him claiming were giving it a proper go this year (and Robins if I'm.honest) to be met with what we've been met with so far is very disappointing

The more time goes by the more it feels like the Play Off Final really was pur one shot at a miracle season, a'la Blackpool, Hull, Wigan etc

My worry is we’re yet to have a really good performance at all and not even two OK performances in a row. My worry all along with Lampard is he’s not capable of getting more out of a squad than the average and I’ve not seen anything to dissuade me of that yet.

Ive been a fan since 97, and it's about write off due to the fact we've been sold a dream and delivered fuck all

We won't go down, of that I'm confident, those below us really are dog shit

The expectations are set by the club.

I’m very reluctant to point fingers at Lampard when we’ve already said a million times, the squad isn’t good enough for a top 6 season. It just isn’t.

I said that straight after.
A once in a generation opportunity that we couldn't get over the line.
Would have set us up for a good few years too.

In relation to this thread;

In that season we lost 12 games (and as is well documented, only one in the last 19)

We have lost 10 already this season.

Repeating that gives us very little wiggle room....

No. Norwich away on Saturday. Borja Sainz is awaiting a charge of spitting - hopefully that'll rule him out against us, as we embark on an unbeaten 20 game run. Knock out Sunderland in a two legged play-off, before Frank Lampard's Coventry defeat Sheffield Utd at Wembley ( where Gus and C O'H are red carded for fighting over who will take a penalty, before realising that it's been awarded to us, and that they don't play for us anymore)

All depends on January, either bling backs frank and we have an exciting end to the season or (most probably) he doesn’t spend a penny and we continue going backwards
