Hi

I have just received my metered water bill in which it states that my average usage is 18 Gallons of water a day.

I live on my own and use water for:-

4/5 hot drinks daily,
4/5 cold water drinks daily,
Washing up once a day,
1 shower daily,
Use toilet 3/4 daily,
Washing m/c Once a week.

How do other of you compare in usage or am I being over-charged?

Regards.

Depending on how long you are in the shower, you could easily use 18 gallons just on that.
The washing machine probably uses a lot too.

These are over estimates
5 litres in drinks
30 litres washing
100 litres showing (10 litres per minute for 10 mins)
36 litres if you have an old school cistern (9 litres per flush).

You can get their fairly easy if you are a bit lax.

You highlight there's a problem here, are ST really still operating in gallons?

I use to work as a subby for Severn Trent and I'm pritty sure they charge per a cubic meter (1000litres).

We had a water issue which resulted in work, which involved a team to source the bad pipe and replace it then another to fill the hole the next day and then another team to tarmac (cap) it the next day.
Also another team turned up on the Sunday to cap it….this must amount to a wedge.

I once moved from a property with a water meter and paid £12 a month by myself. I then move to one without and was charged £25 a month. They're bastards.
