Before I start the ratings I just want to say. Yes the last 15 mins were a disgrace. Yes I want Pressley out. Yes I blame him for the dodgy subs. BUT to be fair even at 11v11 yesterday we were playing well, and at the start of the second half we were playing great, and I though this is it we've finally got our confidence back.

We need to introduce a rule that if we are leading with ten mins to go the keeper and back 4 hit balls into the channels rather than messing around outside our own area.

Jones 6- great kick out for first goal, i don't think he's all that though.
Phillips 7- I rate this lad. Great overlap run and cross for second goal looks like he can make things happen
Pennington -7 was quality until the last 20 mins when he joined in the mass panic with a dodgy back pass that led to the panic
Martin 6
Stokes 7 looked decent on the ball and is big enough just a bit dodgy position wise at times
O'brien - 7 better but not having him as a captain. He helped add to the panic in he ranks when the first went in rather than calm things down
Fleck 8 - ironically started off dodgy seeing that we were playing so well then after red card was running the match. Great volley pass to o'brien that led to second goal
Barton 8 was of his best games for us. Game changed when he had to go off.
Williams 6 quiet
Tudgay 7 good game from him
Samuel 8 good goals decent player

Finch 4 helped start the rot with his panicky kick it anywhere clearances or backwards passing
Thomas 5 looked lively when first came on but he ain't a left sided midfielder and with him and finch in midfield we lost control of the match.
Haynes4 - would never have brought him on. Should have brought Webster on and gone 3 at the back.

Those ratings look over generous to me, I'd expect them after a 2/3-nil win, not 2-2 playing, losing a 2 goal lead against 10 men. I'm not sure how you can a) ignore the last 20 minutes and b) completely blame the subs for the result.

I'd also expect us to have more than 50% possession, especially given we're supposed to be a side that played possession football. And only 4 shots on a target and 3 of those were the 2 goals.

I said ok another thread you can't really judge a team that's played agains ten men for so long. For example fleck has been poor lately because teams have marked him, closed him down quickly, he doesn't like that, so it's no surprise to read that against 10 men when sheffield couldn't press and had to allow us to have the ball deep that fleck plays well with little pressure on the ball.

fleck has been poor lately because teams have marked him, closed him down quickly, he doesn't like that, so it's no surprise to read that against 10 men when sheffield couldn't press and had to allow us to have the ball deep that fleck plays well with little pressure on the ball.

Sounds like Lloyd McGrath's brief against Hoddle's left foot. That's why, if Fleck is your playmaker he needs protection and midfield have to play as a unit. This is where we need to boss games.

i dont know about that stupot. when down to ten men it is important to get possesion and keep the ball away from the opposing 11 to stop them passing round you. also its the quality of the possesion and where you have it. so the 50% doesnt really surprise me. it sounded like we used the ball really well yesterday for the most part. i think we just panicked towards the end. sheff utd are also playing with a lot of confidence at the mo as well which is probably the main factor from yesterday

We have to ask ourselves, just how little confidence will we now be taking into the MK Dons game next week?

Before the game yesterday you would have to say a draw would be an excellent point for us, but bearing in mind the way the game player out, that was definitely 2 points lost.

I'd disagree. I would expect the team with 11 men to dominate possession a) they have the extra man to find space and options, b) the opposition can't press so vigorously so tend to drop deep and allow teams to come on to them, and c) we have the extra man to be able to press more vigorously to break up play and regain the ball quicker.

When reda got sent off against Scunthorpe they had 55% possession, notts county had 53% against fleetwood yesterday who played 20 mins with 10 men, swindon had 55% against Bristol City when wade elliot got sent off after 3 mins, worcester had 52% possession agains us,

He's not my favourite player, I think he flatters to deceive, often slows our game down and doesn't live up to the hype people give him.

The footballer without a footballing Brain is what Fleck is ! Does something fantastic then gives the ball away! Barton is the better player imo, and was missed greatly when he went off!

Lost our shape completely, unsurprising when your captain is the most undisciplined player you've got. Also unfair to play a young striker on the left wing.

We should have stretched the game out far more and tired Sheffield out. We played football in front of them rather than trying to use Samuel's pace against plodding centre backs.

Connor Thomas should have come on for Barton, his pressing and energy was what we needed. He pulls the whole team forwards.

This game wont be the reason we go down this year. We actually played some decent stuff, but its clear that the "winning mentality" that SP wanted to install into the team when he came just isnt there.

Jones 7 - didnt do a lot wrong.
Phillips 7-We need to keep players like this, decent game from the youngster
Pennington 7 - he could well have been MOTM if it wasnt for the last 15
Martin 6 - did ok until the last 15
Stokes 6 - grew into the game, but would rather have had Hayes there
O'brien - 6 - a lot of effort, but not much else
Fleck 7 - decent
Barton 7 - game changed when he was subbed
Williams 6 - saw very little of him. His partnership with Stokes just didnt work
Tudgay 6 best i have seen him play, but thats not saying much
Samuel 8 -MOTM

I've not said he wasn't excellent yesterday, I've just stated the reason he was. I.e allowed the ball with very little pressure on him agains 10 men.

I don't know who we could have completely dominated the game given that we only had 50% possession, only managed 3 more shots than sheff, only 4 on target, only 2 corners compared to sheffields 4 given we played 70+ mins against 10 men. We did dominate the foul count 17 to 7..

You have to put things in context of playing against 10 men. Throwing away a 2 goal lead is criminal.

again i would disagree. confidence in any sport is massive. they are in the top 5 for a very good reason likewise with us been in the relegation zone. add to the fact that we are the away team. when your flying and your two nil down at home thare is still a big belief you can get something out of it especially when playing a fragile team such as us. them stats that you quoted look great but it as i say its where you have possesion and how you use it that counts.

So we didn't completely dominate as has been suggested? Scunthorpe manage to do a number on us, we were unbeaten in 7, just won back to back games, were just outside the play offs, they were in the relegation zone and struggling.

im not sure what you mean, you said we had 50% possesion and others said we completely dominated. hence stats arent always a true reflection of the game

C Thomas wasn't even on the bench, Pressley preferred the inexperience of Finch and G Thomas which is apparently the reason why we collapsed.
