Always like Sheffers like a lot of Cov fans, probably more popular than his performances deserve - why such a love in for Sheffers.

I thinks its two fold a local lad and an exciting player (well his first stint was).

Started following Cov in the 70s, the first local lad I can remember was Peter Hormanshuk in the early 80s (apologies on the spelling) he wasn't a regular, the next local lad was defender Tony Dobson, then Marcus Hall, Sheffers stands out as an exciting player compared to this lot.

Callum Wilson may had he stayed achieved greater status among the SBA but as a club during the 70s 80s 90s and most of the noughties we failed to develop local lads.

Macca like me is a Cov kid so he is always going to be more liked than a player from outside our city.Bobby Gould went to my old school Caludon Castle so he was my first Coventry idol so to speak, and we all used to have a kick about with Bobby Parker another local lad over the fields where we lived. He was down as the next big thing but for some reason never achieved it.I believe if a player is from Cov he can get away with a lot more than an "outsider".

As I sais in my post his second stint wasn't great believe the longterm knee injury slowed him down too much to reach his former heights. His first goal for city at Crystal Palace way was superb taking the ball out of the air on his thigh whilst running before shooting and scoring with his second touch

Was good in his first stint - wasn't in his second. Always good to se local lads come through though. I think we will win tonight, and if so, it wouldn't trouble me if he scored a consolation for them.

Now it makes sense. I didn't know he played anymore. Where's ccfcway with the ex player updates when you need him.

No you sell someone based on their performances....what they do elsewhere is irrelevant if they weren't delivering for us.

Cov knocking one of their own, now there's a surprise.

Ha.

1. I wouldn't say he's one of my own just because he is from the same city as me.
2. He was shit when he came back.
3. I still supported him when he was here though.

It's true though, whether he's a cov kid or not, it's irrelevant. He was crap in his second stint. Everyone remembered what he could do, which made him more frustrating.

If he does score someone should obnoxiously point out that we should have kept him. It worked when that guy called us all idiots when Shaun Jeffers scored that goal after leaving. I haven't checked, but he must be on the cusp of the England squad seeing how stupid we all were to doubt him.

My post was a dig at people who notice ex players score a couple then start thinking it was wrong to sell. It was a sarcastic post by me. Not sure what you thought I meant.

He certainly did become a free kick specialist ,trouble Is that was with BCFC, we never saw the benefit of that on his return ,especially In his final season.

I beg to differ... He could hit the sign in the stands 9 times out of 10

You're knocking hill83 there, one of your own.

1. I wouldn't say he's one of my own just because he posts on the same forum as me.
2. His posts were shit before we came back.
3. He is far more intelligent than some of the gimps on here, so I support him in that regard. (insert smiley or summat)

You were about to get an angry gif then, but number 3 just about saved it.
