I’m not saying it’s a closed shop….And agree that Long term supporters should have first dibs. The only thing that does complicate things is that it is the same priority group that will have first dibs. This will become more equal as the years go on of course, providing the points criteria remains the same as it is.

What fairer system would you propose?

And with regard to the 2nd paragraph, while the same fans may keep themselves in the top points tier, it is still possible for others to get themselves in to that tier if they want.

What some people are asking for is wanting the same amount of nectar points from sainsburys for doing their weekly shop their once a year as someone who does theirs there every week.

Ouch that's an expensive round of golf! I lived in Edinburgh for 6 months and Aberdeen was a long way, so from Bury not surprised you are done in by end of week.
I was a season ticket holder from around 1976 to 2001 but as you know its difficult when you move away . I bit the bullet before Christmas and bought a half season ticket and planning to go to as many home as possible and that is a big effort not just in terms of money/time but also on time away from your family and can be knackering when you get older . I've been to 6 home games and 7 away this season and 8 if you include away at Preston in Youth cup(true northern superfan!). I'm stuck on 560 points for SW game on 20th.

295 additional tickets back on sale tomorrow but again back to 600 points plus category which was the category it sold out at today, so some hope but far from certain.

I would agree with you if the points required for 1st priority were getting higher as the season goes on .. fact is they've stayed at 1200 every match , so doesn't matter how many points I earn over 1600 btw , I'm gaining no ground ..

However fans who go to the 20% of matches that haven't sold out plus cup matches etc can gain on the 1200 or lower priority bands IE 600

It's a fair system

Points were available at boro and sunderland and sadly only 2100 fans in total took up that offer

Some people will always miss out , even the Wembley ‘ day trippers ‘ got tickets some how , before genuine supporters, but looking at it openly ……. a game away in January & we are taking 4000 fans , that’s superb & let’s hope the ones that miss out this time , can get an Fa cup ticket

Most of the big clubs and England FANs have ballots as well as guaranteed access above ‘x’ level of points. Speaking to a Gooner work colleague, he’s putting his points into getting a big away day at Spurs/Man U.

That said, there are a lot of Prem teams that have a waiting list for STs that stretch for years. Villa and Wolves have a waiting list of 3-5 years and the aforementioned Gooner colleague has been on a waiting list since 2012. The demand for home tickets is not that high yet despite some impressive attendances this year.

A partial ballot could be fair for smaller allocations where it is almost guaranteed we’ll sell out. For full allocations between 1,000-2,500 (for arguments sake).

Frankly, I don’t think we’re ‘big’ enough to build these complex systems just yet. If we sold out every away game without fail, you could make a case.

It will be interesting if we sell out Hillsborough two weeks in a row. I’m leaning toward doing both. But, 3 away days in a row with Norwich away after both Sheffield trips is expensive and being based away from Cov this year - every game is an away day for me.

Wow! Didn't realise that Wolves, Championship about 5 years ago, had a 3 year waiting list for season tickets.

Depends how many tickets they give for STs .
If the home end at molineux holds 27,000 for example , they might only sell 22,000 STs every year

I've said several times in this thread, if we were selling out every week to the same group of people we'd need to look at a ballot system.

As you say, we're not yet ready for the complex systems some of the big clubs have in place.

We don't sell our every home game like those clubs, never mind away

Agreed. The demand doesn’t necessitate these complex systems.

We’re moving toward that trajectory in the next few seasons if the success keeps coming.

I’m just still really annoyed to have missed out on the 300 ST loyalty points from last season. Otherwise I’d be cushily above that magical 1200 points threshold!

Thanks again but already on a 0703 from Piccadilly. I prefer train these days although pricing is crazy and you have to use imagination to cut down on costs.

I can't see why not. Football is growing in popularity and is defiantly more inclusive than its ever been. I would estimate about 20% of fans at the CBS are female and that is great to see. Football has the ability to transcend class and culture and is a topic of conversation in many people's lives and that in turn drives interest and attendances. If the club could promote and sustain some success in the top flight we might need to ask Mike to extend the capacity!

I do get your point but at the same time, you shouldn’t have priority for the in demand games over someone that puts more time and money into following the club. As I said, there have only been 4 games that didn’t make general sale this year, and of that only 2 have sold out at the 600+ priority.

I am sure there will also be people that abuse the system and buy with no intention of going, so they get the points. Give it til next week when the tickets have been received and you’ll see them being sold on FB and Twitter etc and you may be able to get one.

Have you seen the ticket exchange group on FB?

The issue could roll on but glad you have considered my point. Not really much a user of FB or Twitter so didn't know that.

I expect to be going to the game one way or other. Crazy home prices for this game. I didn't look at every block but both side stands are 40 GBP and Kop was 34 and I thought CBS home games are overpriced.

There is but it's not really practical to consider other factors when devising a priority ticketing system.

It looks OK according to Cross Country. I am on
0703 from Manchester to Stafford - that looks like a normal train
0833 Stafford to Coventry Arena via Nuneaton arriving 0949 - both legs look like trains
1550 Coventry Arena to Stafford via Coventry arriving 1730 - both legs look like trains
1733 Stafford to Manchester - this looks like a train and starts from Coventry at 1632

Do you know which trains are being replaced. I know the Nuneaton line to Leaming through Arena can change to buses "at a drop of a hat"

That maybe so as its a lot easier with a 'one solution fits all' as so many operations on websites are seemingly run by one company, however other clubs do help other people get to the games. A load of young Man City fans from Wigan were on the same train coming back with me last season . I think they had been playing in Nottingham. There certainly were not long term season ticket holders and they said club helped younger fans to get to games. I accept Man City have more resources to do nice things.

Helping younger fans getaway is a good idea but I don't think that fits within the scope of what we're discussing.
The other think with holding back tickets for general sale is someone like yourself, who must have a fair few points given by the amount of games you've been to might get beaten to a ticket by someone who's not been all season so that would hardly be fair.
