Truthfully I hardly ever post these days SBH - and on this one I actually agree with Grendel!
Ok I take it back Grendel and agree with you for about the second time in 10 years - this thread represents a new low!
I reckon I’ve seen worse on here. I’m also fairly confident that Shipley doesn’t read our comments and, quite correctly, would think ‘what the fuck do you lot know’ if he did.Why is it a low?
Are went allowed to comment if we perceive that a player whose wages we pay isn't trying?
Off at a tangent, but my nephew is Daniel Thomas (named after his good self) !
Disgrace he’s not fit to wear the shirt
Fuck me - this is from the twat who is never happier when he's slagging off our own players/manager.
This thread must be really bad.
I understand Jones hasn't been fit. Otherwise surely he would have been playing.I think what I find quite baffling is how Shipley was getting chosen over Jones despite poor performances at AM. Jones has not done terribly on his few appearances this season and I'm sure he would have put more of a shift in.
If MR supposedly picks on merit, I just don't see how Shipley fits into that. He had maybe two decent games at LWB and that seems to have been enough to get him quite a few games (in a different position) that's he's been truly awful for and not only not looked good enough but looked like he didn't even want to be involved. Two decent games seems to be enough to override half a dozen totally inept ones.
You actually wrote post not thread . Edited. We all do itclearly the one I’m posting on
That's true for the last few weeks, but Jones was last on the bench on the 5th March. I think he had a covid issue and a child as well. Of course at the moment it's all hands to the pump with injuries and a depleted squad which is seeing Shipley get more of an opportunity.I understand Jones hasn't been fit. Otherwise surely he would have been playing.
I think Robins, for whatever reason, seems reluctant to throw young players on, even when we’re home and dry or when the game is clearly lost.Imagine how bad some of the under 23’s must be if they never get chance in front of Shipley, Nagandu and Rus come to mind.

Shipley can do things eg a great left peg at times. As has been said a few times, the best we’ve seen of him has been when he’s played at LWB and yet he hasn’t been picked to play there since. I seem to remember him being deployed, and struggling, as a winger previously.
I fear that should be get to a stage in the season where we are no longer capable of play-offs he will still refuse to put on youngsters (or even put them on the bench unless absolutely necessary).I think Robins, for whatever reason, seems reluctant to throw young players on, even when we’re home and dry or when the game is clearly lost.

Worse, I expect he would pick players who are then released at the end of the season.
Then next season complain we can't afford to risk putting in the younger players.
We do still want to finish as high as we can though. If that's 8th or 9th whatever, it could help being trusted with the quality of loans we're able to bring in next season if they think we're genuine contenders.I fear that should be get to a stage in the season where we are no longer capable of play-offs he will still refuse to put on youngsters (or even put them on the bench unless absolutely necessary).

I think Eccles looks promising too, but those who see him, Fabio or JJ as the messiah, only have a handful of games between them at this level. As many agree, Shippers was decent at a level below and the guys who see them in training every day, are probably the best judges of where they're at and may not be quite as good as some think. Let's face it if Walker or Waghorn had produced as expected then nobody calls for Fabio. Why put in players he doesn't think are good enough?
I think Eccles would have featured regularly but for injury and Tavares is slowly starting to break through.
Robins has to believe they're ready and he clearly doesn't think the vast majority are.

Sorry wasn't suggesting that CVD, just that you mentioned Eccles who regularly gets Brough up on the Jordan posts. Not saying Eccles is the Messiah, just that I think it's a bit of a myth about Robins not putting young players in but obviously he needs to think they're up to it.
For example, Didn’t he give Bayliss a go when the coaches felt he wasn’t ready? Not saying Eccles is the Messiah, just that I think it's a bit of a myth about Robins not putting young players in but obviously he needs to think they're up to it.
It will be a surprise if any of these lads get a chanceImagine how bad some of the under 23’s must be if they never get chance in front of Shipley, Nagandu and Rus come to mind.

I don't think either of these lads have been in a first team squad so far
I might be making it up but I think I read that. Probably on here so possibly rubbish.I don't know, is that what happened, he overruled his coaches? I've genuinely no idea.
Plus not a league below now and get found out easier,Eccles if fit would be getting established if fit but he isn't.Why put in players he doesn't think are good enough?

Totally agree. He wasn't merely adequate against QPR and Peterborough, he was excellent. Technically he has the attributes for that position, and I would be comfortable with Shippers being a back-up to Bidwell in that position next season. However, as you say he is lost in midfield. The one observation I have with Shipley is that when he was playing at LWB (and he played very well v QPR as he did v Peterborough) he seemed to be more engaged with the game, with play happening in front of him and it felt like it played to his strengths a lot more. In that AM role, there’s a lot of running and moving involved where you don’t get the ball, and there isn’t an easy option for a pass because that area of the pitch is a lot more pressured. That’s when he’s at his worst and the ambling starts as he’s not getting much of the ball and seems to disengage. Not a great trait but semi-understandable.

Doesn't matter what we wantYou would have Shipley here next season?
You would have Shipley here next season?
