Should Pressley be sacked? (1 Viewer)

All things being equal, the guy should of gone a long time ago, but things arnt really equal are they, any other manager at pretty much any time in our history, hell yes, fuck off 10 games ago.
Right now he is hamstrung by our inept owners, has a squad purchased on the tightest of shoestring budgets and really cant perform to the best of his potential.
He has the right ideals, the right mentality and seems to have a focused goal, just a shame our owners cant support him and provide him with what he needs.

Should he go, no, in a word, we will get no-one better, certainly wont get anyone with a vision and goal for the club, just a survival instinct and a win or 3 to stop the rot, but that will be short lived and we will soon be back to where we are now, praying we avoid relegation.

Back him, support him, and hope our owners can find a way to give him the finances him/we desperately need/deserve.

They got turned down with a 2.75m+ deal for the Ricoh, fuck it, thats another 10% on what they are in debt, throw that at the team and see what happens.

When they give him 100% support and he fails as miserably as he has then yes, fuck off dont look back and dont say goodbye, till then, as a fan 100% support.

Quality and depth of the squad?

Please remember that we are in Division 3.

Do the 19 clubs above us have more quality and depth than we do?

We are led to believe that we have a top 10 budget.

We have just got outplayed by a non league part time side. And that was before getting a player sent off. What is their budget and depth like?

SP is said to have had the choice of players the budget could stretch to.

His last lot of signings before he joined us were said to be dodgy by their supporters and they were not sad to see him go.

We are playing games with hardly any shots on target.

I am torn on this situation, I understand where Noggin is coming from in his above post, but there is no one who has shown an interest in CCFC and there is less people who are likely to be interested in buying the Club than there would wanting to take over as manager.

Liam - You stated that "we have no money" according to Steve Waggott the Club has one of the biggest budgets in this league, so that statement would be untrue.

While I also grasp it is the players who walk over the white line who are responsible for these results, unfortunately it's the Manager who picks the team, formation, players he wants at the Club and so forth, who will inevitably be responsible for the issues at hands.

As I said on another thread I like SP, he is a nice bloke with CCFC at heart and is passionate about bringing some good times back to the Club, but at this moment in time it's not working out, currently SP has a win rate of around 15% for this calendar year, that would be enough to give any Manager in the Country the boot from there Club..

I have put yes but do think he should be given a month to turn thing around so till Christmas basically......but from what I have seen yesterday
there is somthing fundamentally wrong - the players just are not playing for him and are going through the motions - whether doing this deliberately or
just so scared of making mistakes......think we honestly need a change of direction.

If Tim Fisher and Steve Waggott are telling the truth about this then we should be calling for Pressleys head, but I don't believe them and I think their words were once again weasley, I'm basing my opinion on Pressley on the fact I think he recruited under impossible circumstances and with poor resources. If I'm wrong about the latter points then I would change my opinion accordingly. Fisher talks likes our finances are sorted though and they have turned things around, there is absolutely no way that we both have done this and have one of the highest wage spends in the league. We all know our revenue is at an all time low, there is just no way we have a large wage budget, low revenue and be ok financially. I think the squad is cut to the bone, with a couple of exceptions filled with kids that weren't really ready (admittedly some that will be great in the future hopefully), loans a few of which I don't think he even chose (our starting goalie for instance), people with talent but with attitude or injury problems. I think he got the best players he felt he could get under impossible circumstances, I don't think he built a squad.

Regardless of whether Pressley has had the 'funds' to sign players, tactically he has proven himself to be inept and on that basis alone, he should be sacked.

I don't know if SP is a good manager or not. However there is a bigger problem at the club.

Obviously, I don't think anyone is under any illusions that the 'success' we can acheive under the current owners is limited. However that is the same for any manager who has or will manage under them, therefore by looking at the managers qualities alone I am at a loss to understand how anyone can still support him. Name one positive thing Pressley has done this season that has made you think his has any qualities as a manager.

No, This is not a fact, it's an opinion.

Obviously neither I or yourself can know the truth, however we have brought in players this season for whom I can't imagine were not on similar wages to players we had at the Club last season.

Again there are only certain people who can confirm this but from what we are told it would be the case..

The only good thing I think he has done is play Ryan Haynes and not bottle it and put Pugh back in.
A lot of managers do that when things are not going well.
I think you should expect Jackson to be a good signing he wasn't
I think Madine is a good signing.

Like I say I don't know if he is a good manager and you are right there are far more negative points I have to say than positive ones.

However I still think the change that needs to come needs to be at the top. We can't just keep blaming the managers we cannot possibly have been that unlucky that we have had so many bad managers.

The good thing about keeping a manager for a decent amount of time is he gets to build a squad, replace the few that aren't working, keep the ones that are, tweak and build and from that hopefully get success. When most your squad changes from one season to the next it's always going to be extreamly difficult and you have to get very lucky.

Pressley hasn't been able to do that at all, short contracts, selling anyone worth anything, team built around loans, kids (shipped off as soon as they succeed) and anyone desperate we can get in on a short deal. There is no hope of building a squad this way and when the desperation signings do come off they will leave quickly because the contracts are so short. No one succeeds under these conditions and for that reason I see no benefit to replacing him especially after agreeing a 4 year deal (the one time they do tie someone in, it falls apart a few weeks later)

Agree apart from It virtually ensuring relegation ,so from that point of view It's a reason .

Fine, he has to rebuild every 6 months but isn't that because he has to ship shit out that he's signed? He's also got rid of players he shouldn't, Baker and Blair Adams for example.

What about the 'keeper situation? Nobody is gonna tell me you can afford the likes of Pugh, Tudgay, Jackson, O'Brien and Swanson yet can't find enough money just to sign an experienced League 1 goalkeeper. Somebody like Roy Caroll for instance. Fine, he ain't brilliant but I'd much rather have him than the two complete novices I have.

Hi guys, back off holiday 3 weeks ago and haven't had the heart to come on the forum till now. Total mismanagement on behalf of, firstly SISU, and secondly SP. It doesn't look like we've been able to get a shot on target for an eternity, and can't score a penalty to save our lives. Been looking back over the last 9 weeks threads and posts since coming home and finally see what our owners and manager have dragged us down to. The team couldn't score in a brothel...The owners couldn't make a decent, honest, and unconditional offer for a share in the Ricoh....and the manager couldn't pick his nose, let alone a team that puts any effort into a game. I've been in a "Dark place" over recent years after my heart attack, but my holiday has brought me back to my old self. Apologies to all that I've offended over the last few years...I feel a different person now....just don't piss me off...lol

@ covmark....As you can see from my above post to samo, I know how to quote but have found I have to "Log out"...then "Log in again" on the page to be able to "Quote" It's never been right since a software update on the website. I no longer have the "Highlight" on words or "Emoticons" A good thing I think..I can't give the wa**er sign anymore

Im not saying SP is not apart of this problem i'm saying he is not totally to blame for the state we currently find ourselves in.. You sell 70 goals plus a decent GK and bring in loans, youth and no quality to replace what you have lost you as a club are asking for trouble... Changing SP maybe the correct decision but i don't think it solve's the problem or the bigger picture,, people controlling the squad comings and going need to take responsability too.
