Should SISU be summoned to parliament? (2 Viewers)

Would be interesting but as much as we love CCFC they've not done anything illegal as far as I'm aware.

Removing all emotion from the matter buying a company and being unsuccessful isnt a crime.

Coventry Councillors should be taken to Paliament and made to explain how they have destroyed the City centre and turned into a student lodging area

Is Coventry City centre the only town/city centre that is dead? It's a national problem isn't it? As CCC seemed to have found an alternative use which has helped regenerate the City centre at least in part's what would parliament say exactly? Well done for diversifying and finding an alternative to help buck a national trend? I don't see what your point is?

Oh wait. Now I see. The thread is about SISU being held to account. Can't have that can you so a quick diversionary change the subject tactic needed deploying. Standard from you.

All those overseas students paying between £20K and £30K each per annum, then all those well paid professionals and lesser rewarded ancillary staff boosting the economy of the area.
How dare they?

I went to Nuneaton town centre just before Christmas to meet my mate...we had a good old chin wag in Costa and a few cups of coffee, then I done a bit of shopping and greedy fucking wankers of a no good council charged me £6.50 parking... no wonder town centres are dying ...robbing bastards

Would be nice. It never going to happen. We don't even know who their investors are for a start. We can't find them even if we wanted to.

Can they actually force them by law to appear? Or is it just pointless?

They can summon them but I don't think there's any legal requirement to attend. Didn't stop people like the Murdoch's attending though as it could be contrived as having something to hide and that can be more damaging than dodging the committee. I read somewhere not that long ago that Mike Ashley is saying he's not going to attend one he's been summoned to in the summer but the bad publicity of refusing to attend is/could damage sports directs share price negatively thus forcing him to attend in the end anyway. We'll see.

Either way we should all welcome this. I made the point regarding the JR when people were saying that they just wanted to know the truth that only one side was being held to account so at best it will only be a sort of half truth. Here's a chance to get the other side held to account. Maybe we can all start making some informed decisions regarding everything if it happens. After all, as you once said yourself. Where's the harm in asking questions.

I'll certainly be writing to my MP asking for him to back this.

I'm sure SISU would take the whole of parliament , and the whole of London while they're at it, to court.

Let's get Geoffrey Robinson up to state his case as to how Coventry City went from having a home while he was on the board to paying rent on one.

More silly meaningless labour drivel.
Bang on. This is just mealy mouthed words from a politician who doesn't give a toss.

not sure what it would achieve. SISU run the club yes, made some decisions that fans do not like but as far as I can see nothing illegal, then said we are not wasting any more money on it. A group of largely superficially informed MP's are not going to get any in depth answers. In any case we probably already know more than most of the MP's likely to be involved

Sounds a good headline but it achieves what? We need solutions not reasons for actions that happened years ago. Yes understanding of how we got here is useful, but what is here and what is the future? SISU as a private company might be forced to attend (not sure they can be) but they do not have to answer do they?

I wonder what having joy speak to a bunch of MP's would achieve. Let's face it, didn't a judge almost call her a liar in a court of law? What truths would we expect to hear?

so lots think it carries no weight, yet the most powerful media mogul went, Mike Ashby went

That tells us enough that bad publicity hurts

Wasn't ashley summoned because his company had allegedly broken employment law by not paying minimum wage to his employees ? Or was it other reasons?

What law have our woeful owners breached?

That's the get out isn't it ? Sisu might be despised football club owners but what laws have they broken?

The MP's won't waste a lot of time on individual cases they will much more likely go after the governing body and seem like doing something whilst passing the buck

I live near the city centre and actually find it refreshing to see young people in and around our town centre. They've got spending power too, and not just in Wilkinson picking up cheap weedkiller and shit wallpaper. Keep them coming I say.

And The Sun broke laws too with their phone hacking, hence way Murdock getting called in. Sisu are awful owners, but have not broken any laws.

Not to mention Fred *the shred* Goodwin of HBOS imfamy, and Sir Phillip Green BHS,
Even Tony Blair was summoned over his reasons *WMD* for going to war.
It's not about breaking laws, it's about them being answerable for their actions and the
Repercussions those actions have on people.
None of those mentioned above would have relished appearing, all squirmed in their
Seat as they sat for hours being grilled by very informed people, but none dare refuse.
