I’m not having him as a Robins signing
Again I have to say I'm not sure what this signing was for .. I still don't see where he fits in the team especially when O Hare comes back
So what's the conspiracy theory then? Why did Doug sink over a million quid into a 3 year deal?No it’s because he has no place in our system and is being used as such
He has always been described as a wide attacking player or winger. He shouldn't be played as a defender.Still feel like this if I'm honest
He's not a wing back in a million years
You could pair him with O’Hare or use him as a rotational option in his place. Quite similar players I think.Still feel like this if I'm honest

There’s plenty of mad owners out there and I’m getting ever so slight Todd Boehly vibes from our new leadership, the alleged £7.7m on Wright from nowhere doesn’t help…So what's the conspiracy theory then? Why did Doug sink over a million quid into a 3 year deal?
Ah ok. The Doug is mad conspiracy theory based on absolutely fook all. There’s plenty of mad owners out there and I’m getting ever so slight Todd Boehly vibes from our new leadership, the alleged £7.7m on Wright from nowhere doesn’t help…
The ones who make comments like that while wearing a 2 Tone kit are the weirdest
From nowhere? The source of that money isn’t exactly a mystery. There’s plenty of mad owners out there and I’m getting ever so slight Todd Boehly vibes from our new leadership, the alleged £7.7m on Wright from nowhere doesn’t help…

Think it was "we were looking at someone else but he just jumped out".But he is on record saying he had a look at him and got a feel for him after the scouts had picked him up.
Allen will play there I guess.Given Sheaf's injury and our lack of options at CM I could see Ayari playing deeper, meaning Palmer, Sakamoto and Allen compete for the AM shirt, with O'Hare still to return of course.
Sakamoto is a threat going forwards when playing RWB but was caught out big time for the second goal on Tues.
He looked decent enough when playing AM at Swansea.
We could simply have signed Jodi Jones to do thatHe’s been assigned the Jodi Jones role, no set position in our formation so thrown on on wherever as a last ditch attempt
The way he's going! I think he's playing as a very attacking wing-back too?We could simply have signed Jodi Jones to do that

I think we need him there alongside someone else who can focus purely on winning possession.I was hoping Ayari could play a slightly deeper role, but he looked lost when he was tried there before.
Maybe with a bit more training and familiarity he can adapt to play there.
Fairly sure you are entirely on your own with this one. There is no chance he is a wing back.Nothing makes me smile as much as SBT failing to get their head around the concept of wing backs.
‘Oh no not this again. The question was ‘what type of player is a wing back?’ and everyone writes ‘midfielder’ which is incorrect. A wing back is half midfielder, half defender.’Nothing makes me smile as much as SBT failing to get their head around the concept of wing backs.
Still could of courseThe size of the fee for one player was a shock and still is - we simply have to get it right spending that much

I’ll add David James to my list of favourite strikersAnd yet there he is, playing wing back
Extremely badlyAnd yet there he is, playing wing back

Right midfield and RWB are not the same position, unfortunately for our man from Japan
And yet there he is, playing wing back
He might get plenty of practice now.Wing backs are normally defenders who migrate into the role - not only is Sakatomo not a natural wing back but he seems naturally left footed
I agree, and doesn't Jack Burroughs fit that description?Wing backs are normally defenders who migrate into the role - not only is Sakatomo not a natural wing back but he seems naturally left footed
Are they? I'd say it's the opposite, they're often wingers who get converted into a more defensive role.Wing backs are normally defenders who migrate into the role - not only is Sakatomo not a natural wing back but he seems naturally left footed

I want to see him play more, he looks electric whenever he comes on. Whether that should be at wing back or attacking mid I'm not sure.
Why given how effective Ayari looked playing as an attacking midfielder would you mitigate that by playing him deep?
I am sure when he joined us we were told that's his position. Also he would add more creativity from deeper positions. Why given how effective Ayari looked playing as an attacking midfielder would you mitigate that by playing him deep?
