I'm approaching 72 years of age, having been ever-present at CCFC since 1952 until this season. I live 37 miles from the Ricoh and 51 miles from Sixfields. Even if Sixfields was filled to capacity (7,000) it means that still deprives another 8,000 plus from watching CCFC even if they wanted to. Has SISU NO compassion or understanding (obviously not). In 5 years time I will be 77 and it is therefore unlikely I will ever see my beloved Sky Blues ever play again. SISU has ripped the heart and Soul out of Coventry - and the don't give a monkey's shit. I posted earlier that Birmingham are in dire financial straits and St Andrews holds 35,000 and is half the distance away -- stupidity, absolute stupidity SISU. Thank you SISU for taking away 61 years of support from me.

Not quite as old as you but have been an active supporter since 1960. I can relate to how you feel and think that Sisu should be ashamed. Hopefully one day soon we will be home.

Without sounding harsh and fair play for supporting for so long, but if it hurts that much that you can't see them play and you don't want to go to Sixfields could you not go to an away game closer to where you are to watch them?

Being 37 miles away from the Ricoh and willing to go there is not much different to going to Swindon or Bristol for an away game is it?

It wasn't a smart comment. I can totally understand if people don't want to go to Sixfields but there are still away games to be able to watch your team. It doesn't have to be the end of watching them does it?

feel for you mate like I feel for everyone ,it was the most stupid thing to do without basicly being thrown out of the ricoh,which I believe could never happen due to a written clause by ccc.this all started way before sisu and the ricoh tho .we hav been right royally hung out .all the warning signs wewr ther before we left highfield road ,a lot of us were arguing then ,I know foresight would be a great thing ,but it was so obvious we wer being fleeced by all and sundry .I still hate the ricoh as it stands out so much as the reasoning to leave highfield road ,I cant get over it.we need a home and as I see it we need to be in the ricoh or at least till an alternative in cov is ready .yes sisu hav a lot to answer for ,but so do a lot of others.

It does to some.

I go to away games but at the same time know of season ticket holders who have never been to an away match for what ever reason.
They have nothing now.

I think Nick is forgetting that I am nearly 72 and not a spring chicken -- at Highfield Road and the Ricoh I had a season ticket which made it much easier. I also had car parking arrangements near both grounds. Bristol is 46 miles away and Swindon is nearer, but at 72 I like to know where I am going, where I am going to park, and where I am sitting.

reading a few later posts and seeing wer you live ,I take it that you on a personel point of view want to see city in cov at a home ground ,and your point bout blues is that going to sixfields with such a low capacity ,fucked over 1000s of fans from the start wether they went or not,and that at least blues could accomadate if needs be

I'm not quite as old as you, but after 50 years, the last 46 as a season ticket holder, I have not seen my team this season and am not likely to. I live near Birmingham so there are a few games not too far away, but Nick's comments show a complete lack of understanding of us older fans.

I used to go to every away game, and at one point saw every game City played in the UK for 10 years, including friendlies. But following your team all over the place is a young man's game, not necessarily something people of our age would be capable of doing. I got out of the habit of away games years ago, preferring to just go to home games. I have neither the desire nor the inclination to start being treated like a second class citizen again in the lower reaches of the Football League. I also feel I could not feel comfortable going to away games and missing home games.

Sadly, the current owners have also broken the 50-year habit of attending every single home game. I do still miss them now, but that is diminishing game by game, and if we are not back in Coventry soon it is unlikely I will start again in 5 years time. Priorities change, and it does get harder to sustain after too much time, so I fear I am another lifelong fan who will be lost forever. The way things are, not even a bit of on-field success is making any difference, probably because supporters like me have seen so many of these false dawns over the decades.

well I'm 60 and live in Margate Kent I also have had a season ticket for as long as I can
remember and I'm really missing my football I do go too lot of away games but not any fever
then Walsall as of the cost but still go to most of the one's south of cov I could go to sixfields but
I don't want to let all the fans down by going we should be playing in Coventry the real home
of are football team I could save money by going to sixfields. And at times I think the team would like more of us there we are letting them down by staying away.
I think if we are not back in Coventry before the end of the season I also I won't be
going again next season home or away and I think a lot of fans my age will be doing the same like
I've said I lived in Margate for over 40 years and been driving to Coventry each and every week to
see are sky blues so can anybody tell me what should I do go to sixfields or just sit at home on my
lap top with sky blue player on ? Its not the same. What would you do ? I just want to do the right thing

When you get to my age what you really like is a cup of coco in your slippers in front of the fire. I remember when Northampton was all fields. We used to leave our doors open and go out to get a bit of brisket; can't any more. I can't remember where I put my slippers.

For me it's like watching half a football team. It's almost as if the team at Northampton is not mine.

I have no sense of belonging for this team and as time goes on my affiliation to them solely based on my 46 years of supporting them will diminish.

I believe we will be back in the new year but if not at some point I believe all physical involvement will stop.
I will hopefully continue to listen on the radio and would expect to at least check the scores, but who knows.

Saturday we went to our first game this season at Walsall, and whilst I feared I would be disconnected because I haven't and wont go to sixfields I have to say it was like I'd never been away- 35 previous years of passion installed in me as soon as I was amongst fellow Sky Blue brethren.
Like a few on here I had feared that the interest would wain and die.... it won't, its still there-analogies of sky blue blood perhaps not appropriate, but trust me when you go... its what you are.. its what we all do. For now- for us- that will be only at away games!

You need to understand exactly how they feel. The younger you are the less you will understand as youth is fearless.
Hopefully not me !! but as you get older, you get in a routine that you don't like to get out of.
A partially sited friend of mine and his wife who is disabled have stopped going for similar reasons.
My Mum who is 80 has a caravan in Derbyshire that she drives up to every other week by herself, but will not drive to Tescos at the Arena because she don't know the roads !!

you should do what you feel is right as a Mong on the Hill I have no issues with supporters who enter Sixfield that is there choice.
You will get no grief and contrary to opinion IF they ever return to Coventry I don't believe there will be any animosity from stay away fans.
Just need to go to away games to see the unity of our fans when we are all together.

It is a personal choice and it can only be made by You.

While I don't support the sixfields move we must also realise why it happened and why it was sixfields and not say brum. Some comments on here make the assumption that we can simply return to the Ricoh if sisu so decide it? Have ACL or the council made any offer to sisu that could at least be considered? Returning under the same conditions why we left would not solve anything. If it was your business what would you do?

If it was my business I would want the highest profit margins possible.

Right now returning to the Ricoh even under the original contract would do that.
