Sorry if this has already been done.
But i don't get it !!!!!
If their not going to protest what's the point of them being in existence ?
How much has been raised towards fan ownership ?
How do they hope to achieve getting board representation ?

They're trying to get both sides to talk, what they're not doing is shouting Sisu Out or standing outside the council house.

Just because they're not protesting doesn't mean they're not doing anything.

And fan ownership doesn't work by raising the money first, AFAIK. There's a few routes, including being ready for admin/liquidation, talking to the existing owners about being given representation or talking to any potential new owners (like PHIV who promised was it 20%?).

Should admin occur then raising money would be required, but it's not like they have a Blue Peter accumulator ticking away until they can offer £30m to Joy.

All this talk of getting each side to talk is pointless. The council don't want to sell to sisu and sisu will only bring the club home if they own the whole shebang.

This whole episode is boring the crap out of me.

shouldn't this sort of decision be put to a membership vote?

on the face of it Michael has made moves to start bringing the splinter groups together and has been dismissed out of hand. It's all well and good saying that the Trust doesn't do protests (what was that march through town if it wasn't a protest?) and prefers to speak to both sides but didn't the last trust update say SISU refused to speak with them? What are they planning to do then, just wait until Tim and Joy change their mind?

It seems to me that the trust just want fans representation on the board.
Do they feel this would be given to them ?
I would think that given the choice the majority of their members would want Cov back in Cov as priority not board representation !!!
Board representation is nothing more than a pipe dream in an ideal world !!

Who am i to argue if this is what the members want ?

Depends what protests though.

A shouty SISU OUT! or COUNCIL OUT! doesn't help matters... as in fact arguably their earlier stance has showed.

Still not convinced why a statement of identity has to be seen as taking sides however.

looks to me that they have set themselves a goal of fans representation on the board !!
And in doing so have hung out to dry a lot of their members who were actively involved or supported protests to all sides !!!

As said, I would suggest assertions of identity as the middle ground the Trust can cover, with the aim and focus of drawing attention to the fact that the club is located in the wrong place, and that the fans would quite like it relocated back in the right city.

The Trust are doing some of it anyway, attempting to talk to all parties, encouraging the message that all parties should talk to each other.

Wish they'd use the same font all the way through a statement on their website mind you!

Nopm has been the best form of protest so far it has brought Joy out of her shell and shut Tim up.
So what are the trust saying they don't support Nopm ?
90% of the ccfc fan base is supporting Nopm !!!

Below is a translation of their statement:

"The Sky Blue Trust has been approached by Mr Michael Orton, the co-ordinator of the Keep Coventry In Coventry campaign group asking the Trust to take over the running of this group. The Trust fully agrees with the ultimate aim of such protest groups, be that KCIC or the newly formed Get Cov Back To The Ricoh, after all we are all Coventry fans and we all want our team back in its home City. Howeverthe Trust is not a protest group."

Translation: We agree with the aim of a protest but we are too spineless to do any protests ourselves because we don't want to upset whoever will win the battle of SISU vs. CCC/ACL.

"The Sky Blue Trust is there to represent its members."

Translation: The Trust is not willing to represent the members who want us to organize protests (see first paragraph) but we are happy they cough up their membership subscriptions. Also, we are not willing to put this to a membership vote because we are hoping to get on the CCFC board one day and we really don't give a toss what our members think.

"The Sky Blue Trust wants a club that has success on the pitch, is financially stable and rooted in the community. We believe that a level of fan ownership and fan involvement at board level is the best way of ensuring that these long term aims are met."

Translation: The Trust wants to be on the board of CCFC despite having no inclination to actually do anything when the club is in dire need of supporters taking direct action.

"At this moment in time these important aims are not the priority, bringing our club home is and the Trust is trying to aid this process through dialogue and discussion with all the major stakeholders. We believe we can achieve this through negotiation, pragmatism and a professional approach. Being involved with or even running any protest group would be counter productive to this."

Translation: Being professional means having no firm views that might upset whoever ends up in charge of the club. Also we don't want those bods on GMK accusing us of being mongs.

"Mr Orton and his colleagues have done a fine job highlighting the plight of our club to the world at large but if he feels he no longer has the will or capacity personallyto continue then we are sure someone equally capable will come forwardto take up the reigns. The Trust is sure that there are plenty of dedicated Coventry fans who would be happy to take over the running of KCIC from Mr Orton and we would urge them to contact him directly."

Translation: Anyone but us. After all we don't want to upset the bosses in case they don't give us a seat in the board room.

I think the direction of getting parties to talk is the most effective one IMO. I take valient's point that they are not talking and clearly want different things but this happens in every dispute doesnt it? I suppose NOPM is a war of attrition but we dont know how long SISU can last on this one but clearly the Trust have to support it or risk being shot down by their own members. I suppose the obvious question is that if the Ricoh is really Plan B now, is there any point in continueing the Ricoh arguement, we wont really know until the 'land' for plan A is brought but thats where the Trust need to get answers in my opinion.

Protests in their current form as not working, the hill protests are pointless without substantial numbers there but again people are not willing to travel, the town protest was well attended but what did it achieve?

You're also conflating people not going for various reasons, with it being a concerted campaign by some people to not give cash.

Absolutely. We get about 3,000 fans going to away games that are as close as Northampton and we have about 1,200 fans travelling to Sixfields. Therefore, by my reckoning, about 60% of fans who would normally be prepared to travel that distance are choosing not to do so in order to support NOPM.

Do you really believe that the majority of fans not traveling to sixfields has not had an effect on Sisu's actions ?

NW-respectfully I think your clutching at straws... most people don't go because they share my view that it is morally abhorrent what SISU are doing to our football club-taking it to Northampton is little more than kidnap with SISU demanding the freehold to the Ricoh as the ransom. Do you not see that?
People who can't go for whatever reason, are I am sure are in the minority of the circa 8-9000 CCFC fans who are staying away(data based on last years attendance figures).
