Sky Blues legends fear they won't live to see club play again (3 Viewers)

It isn't actually Northampton Reserves though is it? :(

The diamond club isn't the only part of the club either, SBIC is still doing stuff, the Academy is still in Coventry.

Maybe as ex players they could use their status to help some how?

I am happy to know everything is looking so good.

If he wants to call it Northampton Reserves, can he not do it without you (or anyone else) correcting him. If that is how he feels and sees it who are you to bring him up on it. Jesus christ Nick, why do you always feel the need to try and correct someone or something to your way of thinking? Especially when it is usually when someone says something derogatory about Sixfields or the fact we play there.

Well yes, because we aren't Northampton Reserves are we? I am not saying he can't say it, just saying we aren't. I am also saying that it isn't just the diamond club still going in the city from the club, SBIC do great things.

It is not to my way of thinking is it? I am not saying they should all go and worship Sixfields am I or anything? If people make statements to the press, why can't they be discussed?

Edit : I do agree with Dietmar Bruck though.

Some quotes from Legends Ronnie Farmer:

“I was sad when we left Highfield Road and now I wish we had never left. The situation at the club is a farce.”

“At my age I have realised I may never get to see them play again, it makes me very sad.”

and Dietmar Bruck:

“The worrying part about all this is that because it is going on so long people are finding other things to do instead of watching Coventry City and we are going to lose generations of supporters.

“There’s no way, as an ex player, I will go to Northampton.”

Conspicuous by their absence on this thread, are those posters who vilified Natalie Cox in another thread for “self indulgent”, “attention seeking”, “look at me”, “feel my pain” waffle. I wonder why that is?

And to those who accept the situation at Northampton and don’t seem to have a problem fans attending home games there, I’d be interested to hear your opinions on Dietmar’s last quotes.

Because there is nothing to mock here. All genuine concerns by people that are already in the public eye, ex players.
Not some bollocks attention seeking love letter from nobody.

Do you want people to come into this thread and mock it? I certainly don't.

We meet some of the former players at the Squirrel the other week.
They were CCFC throughout.
Ronnie Farmer was just a pure Gentlemen but what hurt was the look in his eyes believing he will be unable to see the City again.
It is a pure shame that he Countries biggest former football association will just die away never to see there club again.

Can't the trust organise something at an away game? Put them a coach on? I'd chip on for a coach for loads of them, along with oap.fans or disabled people who can't get to sixfields

And that's the crux of it. It's easy to attack an ordinary fan but to attack a former legend doesn't go down to well.

Can't argue with that. But it was more the tone and the pithy writing I was having a go at. Cringe central. Anyway, I don't want this thread to go off topic.

It's tongue in cheek, Nick. A metaphor. He uses that term, I presume, as we use that pitch when Northampton aren't. Just like the reserves would get to go on the main pitches when they weren't being used by the first string.

The main thrust if his lament being this once great club is now fitting it's fixtures in around bloody Northampton's season; almost 40 miles from where it should be. That's obviously what he's referring to, and it should be viewed upon that basis; not pulling it apart figuratively

The saddest thing of all is that the ultimate legend himself Jimmy Hill will probably not live to see us next play in Coventry. The man who put this club on the map has had his work systematically dismantled and then some.

In one way I suppose it's good he doesn't know what's happening to our club.

I think everyone saw and read it that way, MMM, except Nick.

The image last year of the club shop being emptied past his statue was quite a powerful. The man who brought the club to the top waving off those who have fecked it up.

I agree the letter was gushy and way over the top but I think most people will have some empathy towards her feelings. I think some of the callous comments were a little harsh and undeserving to be honest. I've also had enough but I won't be writing any letters, I just won't go anymore as I no longer feel any association with the club. It's not the club that I once knew.

Apologising for sisu again.

Not apologising for anything is it?

It most certainly is.

No mention in your reply off the tragedy that is some real CCFC legends feel compelled to talk about the current state of the club in the manner they have.

Instead you give us a list of things that sisu are yet to fuck up.

That is an apology for the architects of our predicament.

I can't see how pointing out that Northampton reserves is an inaccurate statement is apologising for anything.

For once you've suggested a good idea.
I will bring it up at the next meeting,

shame thou that it is left up to a fans association to look after former players etc especially one that the Club and some fans do not want to recognise.

On that idea I've just had a thought.

I Can see sisu next statement Former players association in bed with the trust!!!!

They too could end up nearer the top of Sisu shit list.

No it isn't, the apologist thing is wearing thin. You have agreed with me he is wrong with the diamond club being the only thing left anyway.

I don't want the old boys to not see the team so happy to chip in for a coach for them.

Sisu apologist is playground stuff. There is no poster who fits the bill.

I don't think they particularly get on at the moment do they? Didn't the FPA cut all ties with the club following the move to Northampton?

Speaking of which how involved is the club with SBITC these days, can imagine having the club involved is more of a hinderance than a help the way most people feel.

It's to mock the meaning of an ex-player by taking a literal translation of his words and pedantically skewing them to discount them. If you can't, or won't see that, you're either disingenuous, or trolling. Wonder which?

Might a SISU apologist not be someone who refused to criticise the move to Northampton, as the argument was all to do with an 'Average League One rent', then equally refused to criticise them when it's apparent that they now seek an unencumbered freehold? Such unconditional, unwavering support of diametrically opposing stances could be seen as condoning their every move, and thus being an 'apologist'; no?
