Can't help thinking that a really solid performance at the Boro' earned our lads a credible draw when I expected them to lose as I see the Boro' as title contenders while my gut was saying we could do something there. And so we did.
Boro' have now gone top after another win today.

Derby looked to have a great start to the season (as we have done in the past) and I can't see them challenging but critics say otherwise and now they go and win the 'derby' at Forest? We beat them comfortable last week end from a nervy start.

It begs the question. Just how good are we right now and don't realise it and can we quietly go about our business and follow on from last week and record a good away win at Ipswich?

Some of you will be thinking no doubt that perhaps Thorn is absolutely right and he is indeed going to produce something this season. Our defence is one of the tightest in the league and we create plenty of chances every game with our style of play. There is no one to fear in this league. Relegation fodder we most certainly are not!

Once we start converting those chances (and a fit Macca returns raring to get in on it, in the hole ahead of the average Bell) and Cody finding his feet I can only surmise we may have a team of doing better than any of us would have imagined except Mr Thorn!

Injuries and bringing in suitable loans may be the key to our season.

Derby were awful, not reading anything into the victory I'm afraid.

My mate (Derby fan and ST holder) even said it was a woeful game for them.

And to answer the question, 18-24th, depending if the frontmen get better service/ take chances.

Not at all no! I thought cov's play was patchy at best. After the next 3 games I'd be surprised if we come away with even 4 points! The Derby game just papered over the cracks.

We will be crap until we get near the top of the table. Lost by one goal at the most. Middlesboro had an off day against us. Derby have won 5 out of 7. Must have had an off day against us. Ipswich are next. Is everyone ready for them to have an off day against us? Reading are also ready to have an off day against us. Maybe our team might get a little praise before the end of the season.

I'm almost too reluctant to say what might happen but I suppose it will be fair to say I may have a point in what I'm saying if we go win at Ipswich next. Lose and it would seem I may just be barking up the wrong tree too soon.

I just think though we will win convincingly at Ipswich and most likely follow up with another win at home.

It's on a knife edge for me right here and right now as to how we perform the rest of the season...

Won't comment on 'Boro away, wasn't there.

They did well to beat Derby, don't get me wrong, but I was there and yes well done, 3 points. Still think the season will be a struggle and I'm not going to heap praise on a city team known in recent years for showing occasional ability only to follow it up with shoddy performances. Feet remain on the ground- realism!

If we had been playing crap then I would agree with the ones that say we will finish near the bottom and struggle to get points. We must remember that in one of the games we lost we were winning until the 90th min. If we had held on there then we would be aiming at getting into the top 6 in the next couple of games. We have a good team. We have a small squad. A lot of our season will depend on how lucky we are with injuries and if we get a few are their going to be any loans come in or have we a couple more youngsters ready to come in to cover injuries?

It is about time that many on here forgot about the negativity to do with SISU. We are playing well. How many more weeks can some keep saying it is not us playing well but our opponents playing crap. Our results are starting to improve. If we keep backing our team the way we have started to then anything is possible with a bit of luck.

We have not been outplayed yet this season. We have played most of the teams expected to do well this season already. I would have less confidence if we had played teams mainly expected to finish the bottom and got the same results.

Palace, I was there and if it wasn't for R'OD and Juke being abysmal in front of goal (they had at least 3 one-on-ones between them) it would have been a comfortable win. Therein lies my problem with the team, will not score enough.

Well said Paxman and Astute, lets forget all the SISU problems for a couple of weeks and concentrate on the team. Young ,talanted, and hungry all could be said of the team so far.
I have'nt sen the table after todays games but have'nt all our games been against the top ten, and not once have we been took to the cleaners. All i am saying is at last we have some Hope.

Sorry, Paxman, don't wish to piss on your chips but this thread is pretty daft, pointless and redundant considering we have only played SIX games thus far.

Absolutely impossible to determine anything based on such a pitiful amount of matches.

I for one will not be drawn into any sort of comparison, dissection or analysis until we have played somewhere in the region of 12-15 games.

Confidence helps to score goals. Their confidence will be good now. Our defence is looking good. The midfield is coming together. The two are starting to combine together nicely. Whilst we are generating chances we will always have a chance of scoring.

Hmmm well Derby imo are still a poor side and will finish in the bottom half, Boro was a great away point but they pretty much dominated that game from what I heard still it was a great point.
Our defence is looking solid but I disagree that we are creating lots of chances in some games we have offered 0 attacking threat. I think we will stay up but we shouldn't get carried away after 1 win.

I agree a dozen games in will tell a better story but the amount of pessimism on here regarding the team is unfounded.
I'm merely pointing out the obvious improvement. There is reason for optimism and you can't be the fair weather critic who only starts support when the results are going well. It's for people to be brave enough to nail their flag to the mast early and I'm simply saying this will not be the despondent season a lot on here think it will be. I don't see that with what I've seen of the teams in this league so far and what I believe Thorn and his team can be capable of.
As someone else said is it the fact Derby had an off day or did we simply have the game to beat them? The later seems the answer surely?
I already made it clear this was a post based on perhaps winning again on Monday and if the opposite is true then I'm happy to be a bit more pessimistic about the season ahead. Lets not wait for 10 unbeaten games before deciding if we are relegation fodder or not...if you know football you should see that that scenario is already proven ridiculous.

There's realism and there's downright negativity, I'm sure AT and the boy's will be bolstered by your support.

If Derby had beat us they would now be in 1st place. Not bad for a poor side maybe? :thinking about:

Creating chances has not been our problem in most games. Putting them away has been. Before anyone says anything I am not saying Cody is the answer to all our problems, but when he is up to speed he will get a few. Our performances are getting gradually better. If we had started well and then went crap as we have got used to then I would be a little worried. Things are as good as we could have hoped for at the moment

Lets get some perspective, the results against Boro and Derby now look quite good but we are so thin on the ground that a couple of injuries and suspensions will be hard to cover. As Otis says, its early days..........too early for assumptions. Loan signings please!!

I'm on here to discuss CCFC of course. That doesn't mean that after only 6 league games into the season I wish to make any sort of judgement on how good we are or not! Win the next two and we will look great. Lose the next too and we will look pants.

TOO EARLY in the season. Don't see how that has anything to do with my posting on here. Unless of course you mean this thread in particular? And if you do, then of course I feel it is right and proper to suggest that it is impossible to analyse anything so very early in the season! You will hear just about every manager say that 10 games minimum is the time to start judging.

For a 90 minute game, I am vocal and in full support of AT and the players.

We are on a 3 game unbeaten streak. Derby was a convincing win. More than halfway to what you want to see. Won't tell us everything even if we win the next two but at least we are going in the right direction.

The fact we've changed our argument from "Can we survive" to "Can we go on an unbeaten run and climb the table" says a lot about how we're feeling atm. I think that says all we need to know about how well we're doing: Better than expected and could get even better =D

Our first XI is certainly better than many would have you believe but I disagree we were solid against Boro. Not complaining because we so often have it go against us but we were very lucky to come out with anything v Boro and that was never a penalty v Derby but we need every break of luck we can get currently. IF we can get a couple of decent loan additions then I'm feeling much more positive about the remainder of the season and possibly a top half with some luck on the injury front.

Does anybody think this was down to the change of goalkeeper and the change of distribution with Dunn kicking and juke totally dominating in the air ,it meant we spent so much more time in their half .the Middlesborough game idid'nt see but the sound of it reminds me of us against Swansea at home last season our best performance for about 3 months ,could have saved Aidy's job we camped in their half fir about 70 mins but we know what the result was and where they finished up
,so you have to count them however they come.

I want to be optimistic but we need to keep a sense of perspective-we've won 1 game. Having just seen TFLS, we are one of 5 sides equal 2nd bottom on 5 points. A win on Monday would send us soaring up the table for sure, but a defeat leaves us looking as much in the brown stuff as we did before Derby.

So yeah..it's too early to say by far. I don't really understand why we have to either be promotion challengers or relegation certainties-for me the spectrum spans between potential relegation battlers and mid-table.

This thread should be re-named "are we actually not quite as shite as we thought we were?"
