Hasn't been same level of violence at pro Palestine marches has there? It is pretty hilarious how @torchomatic now has an issue with people covering their faces at protests when it's been happening most Saturdays for the past year.
Too far gone in the echo chamber.
Well that's what I thought. I guess that's what Nick had been talking about.Hasn't been same level of violence at pro Palestine marches has there?

Nearly all of them passed off very peacefully didn't they? There will always some trouble at any protest, because you get agitators who see it as an opportunity to join in and cause aggro.
Maybe Nick is talking about something else, because the Palestine protests always seemed to include speeches by well known figures and bands playing etc.
Not trying to side with that, just saying it's completely different to people covering their faces because they want to break the law, throw and burn shit and not get caught.
It seems that TR one last week was rather peaceful and I have no problem with that one
Who did they believe caused this in the end? Wasn't the accusation against the Romany community, following the child services incident?I assume what he’s actually referencing is this
Leeds Riots
All kicking off, people setting buses on fire, smashing up police cars etc. Videos online of reported "migrants" chasing police. Why not treat them like they would football fans?www.skybluestalk.co.uk

I found this one a little confused, because it seemed to be an incident amongst one community and the next thing, it's talking about migrants. Well that covers a hell of a lot of people and migrants aren't a community and don't all come together as one normally do they.
Must confess, this story seemed to be rather muddily reported.
Yeah, sorry. Roma, not RomanyBy Romany community I assume you mean Romanian immigrants?

I wonder how many were arrested. It was Romanians, wasn't it? Kicked off due to those children being taken into care. There was a guy who torched a bus. Was he ever arrested?

Thanks.I think they were Romani.
I think they were Romani.
Yeah, just read that. That's insane if true. They were Romanian. The children were removed as it was believed there was an attempt planned to take them out the country.
This caused an immediate escalation of violence with over 2,000 people causing (according to the bbc) on the streets
Harehills is a power keg. In 2001 it erupted when a Muslim man was arrested for not paying road tax after an altercation

Isn't this just a " typical" social services case when they remove children believed to be at risk?
If a child dies in a case where social services are aware of issues it also becomes national news.
Maybe the media and politicians should have taken race out of it from the start.
I wonder how many were arrested.
Anyway, if it IS this, this isn't a shoe on the other foot situation and not a left vs right.
People who rioted in Leeds are just as bad as anyone who rioted in Southport and all these other towns and cities.
Rioting, is rioting and completely different to protesting.
I might making this up, so forgive me if it's inaccurate, but I'm sure I read something about a traffic warden being beaten up in Birmingham somewhere for handing out tickets.
That’s not even news.
Can’t recall if it was at the time. Definitely happened, remember seeing it. Half a street giving the guy a hiding for no other reason than doing his job.
People roaming the streets with machetes last night? Fucking madness.
That's right. He was on a scooter or something. Can’t recall if it was at the time. Definitely happened, remember seeing it. Half a street giving the guy a hiding for no other reason than doing his job.
Erm... Coventry? The scenes are being set for decades of ethnic violence even if it stops now.
I hope this simmers down or is brought under control but really think this is what the future holds.
Can we point to any examples of multi-ethnic, multi racial societies that have successfully integrated peacefully historically, especially where the native populations % of society is declining?
Erm... Coventry?

Fully supportive of the social services actions if they believed a child (children) were at risk. Let's be honest it happens far too frequently than we'd like to think - over 103,000 in UK mainly for abuse and neglect according to children's charities. Social services having to deal with over 640000 referrals per year. It's the racecard being whipped up by the Roma themselves & some parts of the media I question. They believed there was a possibility the children would be taken out the country

Other than the cancellation of the Rwanda plan with nothing coherent to replace it gives an ”excuse” for a reaction. It has fuck all to do with Labour.
Come on, it’s made no difference whatsoever. The Rwanda nonsense was just an expensive gimmick.Other than the cancellation of the Rwanda plan with nothing coherent to replace it gives an ”excuse” for a reaction.
I see the point about perception though which he's making. Even if nonsense to anybody with a brain, it partially might explain (and also makes the previous government partially culpable in stirring up hatred)Come on, it’s made no difference whatsoever. The Rwanda nonsense was just an expensive gimmick.
