It is the same old sisu, put out a good news story, before the bad news that it is another year in Birmingham. Well the "Joint" statement is strange as Warwick uni has put nothing out. In fact the internal newsletter to the staff from the Chancellor does not mention anything about it, (there was news about Lotus cars building at the Wellsbourne campus". If you read the statement about the new stadium, it mentions the light rail. To get a stadium built, they will have to improve the transport system to accommodate a stadium and the light rail/ relief road would be required. The uni first mentioned this rail in 2016,(4 years later nothing) and the latest news on it is to build the first line to Walsgrave hospital, (In the council dreams for 2024). The relief road has no planning, no funding, (cost £100 million) even if that road went ahead, 8 years before it would be finished. The stadium is another smoke screen like all the others they went on about. The only hope is Sisu sell up, or wasps sell the stadium, to pay their debts.

Not when we won promotion, or when we signed O'Hare?

Signed up to point out there will be no stadium at Warwick university in the next 5 years, you keep finding certain fault's with my posts, to keep yourself happy, just ignore about the road, the rail and the staff newsletter, not mentioning building a stadium on the campus. You keep hoping that Sisu will build a new stadium

Don’t we all hope that they build a new stadium? That’s at least what an actual fan of CCFC would hope for, or would you rather go and watch the cuckoo egg chasers with the free tickets they gave you?

Ricoh was built on promise of the train station - how long did that take to actually happen? There are plans for bypasses, light rail etc around the area to ultimately alleviate any problems. Plus the uni and nearby business/retail parks already sees tens of thousands of people use it every day. Football would just take over the usual weekday traffic at a weekend. The statement was clearly put on the university website which for me outranks a staff newsletter which doesn't need to mention a vague agreement on a possibility of a stadium being built.

For what it's worth I'm very doubtful anything will come of this as what has been announced is vague. For me plan A is still to get the Ricoh either by the EU case and/or depriving Wasps of income from us playing there stressing their finances further.

Your first post said the Uni hadn't put out a statement yet there is one on their website. The idea that a stadium is an impossibility because it wasn't announced first in a staff newsletter is bonkers. Do you really think it wouldn't have leaked out if they had put it in a newsletter?

As for infrastructure, work on Stoneleigh Road has already started, in fact the road is closed from Monday until 7th September as they will be working on it. It will be very hard for people to object to a stadium on the basis the site can't cope with crowds while also objecting to infrastructure improvements for the uni. Not to mention the uni has over 6,600 staff and over 26,500 full time students, plus all the people who work on the business park.

I just want to say what I hinted earlier. A stadium plan with Warwick Uni is a long term thing. It usurps CCC as planning is not in their jurisdiction, so on the face of it a good move. As I understand what does involve CCC is the road and light rail upgrades, but those apparently are already approved, if not funded.
So we have a situation where SISU can get a medium term agreement with the Ricoh landlords or stay in Birmingham (or A.N.Other) with the promise of a future stadium on the drawing board with agreements in place with Warwick Uni. This will give SISU their attractiveness for any buyers of the football club which I still think is their goal.
Mean time WASP do look a little shaky financially, and the pending EU decision could potentially be the final straw in their finances, or would it? But short of begging CCFC to return they will suffer from not getting a deal with us. If they do make a deal eventually, and we return halfway through the season or next season it still keeps SISU with that 'home base' strategy for selling us on, be it potentially continuing at the Ricoh or with the Warwick Uni deal in place. But SISU must be thinking before any spade is put in the ground at Warwick, that the Ricoh still looks like it could become available in some shape or form. They will continue to hover like vultures with this in mind I don't doubt. As the city of culture looms, CCC will be mindful of their football club not playing in the city. As it is the local community is losing out with shops and businesses unable to benefit from what the football club can generate with their presence.
So I'm disappointed SISU have turned away from playing at the RICOH, as it certainly would have been more financially beneficial than being in Birmingham. But we can all make our best guesses, but without the inside knowledge and this insistence on a NDA we really are trying to navigate through cloudy waters looking for the answers we so deperately want to hear. I think the fans are owed some real truths from SISU, and not fobbed off with the Warwick Uni deal. They have earned a bit of credit recently but that will soon drain away. We should be back at the Ricoh now. We are all asking what possibly is the problem? Those that say the council are pulling WASP strings are clutching at straws. What I do recall, is the lease granted WASP had a clause that undrwrote every reasonable consideration must be given to CCFC to play at the stadium. So with imdemnities dropped, what is the spanner in the works?

Yes I have looked at the design of the new junction at stoneleigh/A46 junction, it has not been designed for a new road to the Uni. That junction is costing £40 million, the central gov has only just provided the £18 million, so it can go ahead. It is going to be 2 years before it is finished, it was supposed to be finished in 2019.

No the new road is not in progress, the A46 stoneleigh junction is jus an improvement for the A46 trunk road. It is a government thing to drive all the way from the M1 at Leicester to the M40 at Warwick without stopping.

Like all the other posts/ facts about the new stadiums, you put up over the years, you were wrong. Sisu bring up a new stadium news item over the years to fool the fans/supporters, when bad things are happening. They are still after the Ricoh, it is the same as before Northampton, "the stadium owners are asking too much, so we are moving to play in another ground" and we will bankrupt them to get the stadium on the cheap. What then? Are you hoping Sisu leave with their million's of profit.

You only signed up yesterday, yet you act like an expert.

Strange that you didn't sign up to have an issue with wasps getting the stadium on the cheap?

Wasps and CCC said the Ricoh don't need ccfc, how will they bankrupt them by moving?

You have quite clearly signed up to push a particular agenda, as I said it isn't 2012. It doesn't work.

The EU decision on state aid, if it goes against the council, Sisu will sue the council, who will have to charge Wasps more money, bankrupting the company who owns the stadium. That is the reason Sisu would not sign the Ricoh deal.

If the decision finds that the state aid was illegal then we won't have to sue, it will be between the council and wasps to get the money back.

The staff webpage mentions the Lotus plans and nothing about the stadium because the Lotus thing is happening and the stadium thing is at an early agreement stage. It's why we didn't hear about the Lotus plans until it became more than that.
