He was poor, along with his hoofball colleagues.

Mind you, we were bad for it today, passing game till the 2nd goal was largely non-existent.

sorry 1st half we played some good football - 2nd half we didnt play at all until the 2nd goal - yes hoofball in the 2nd but not the 1st. And sheff were trying to bullly us from the start - not helped by the ref who let them get away with it, and i think we stood up to that well . Any other year we would have cried off, and lost 2 or 3

We were bad? What were you watching? First half we were in complete control and passed it around well. We looked like the home team. Second half a different matter.

Just shows how fickle some of us are with our ex players,I always thought he put in a good shift when he was here.

was at the game

and in the first half we played some lovely football,a credit to the coaching staff and the team.fleck looks thinner so does mcsheffrey, they all look like they have an extrayard of pace.christie was outstanding first half .jennings is just great makes micky doyle look like mr joe average.elliot WOW that boy has some work rate.
2nd half we kind of stooped to their level,i cannot imagine that sheffield united fans are happy watching that style of football its awful, pass pass HOOOOOF.
OVERAL A GREAT WIN.
Clarke took both goals well, its not the time or place to slate his workrate and he definately needs to work on his flick ons etc.but 5 goals in 6 hes proving me wrong.
Fantastic result and a deserved 3 points

I remember seeing his trial game in reserves (might have been against Fulham) and he was awful and then when we signed him I couldn't believe it!

I think all the criticism is harsh - he played something like 250 games for us, for many clubs that would make him a club legend. I can't think of many players in the last 10 years who have played that many times for us.

He always tried when he played for us, as far as I remember - stop giving him stick!

Why do people judge players by how many goals they score, or shots they have? Doyle has always been a player who breaks up play and then gives it to someone more creative. He did it pretty well for us for a number of years.

Shows how bad our squad was! Remember the days when we persisted with the partnership of Doyle and Hughes in the middle!

I think his first season he was an alright player, a grafter who wasnt afraid to tackle. But suddenly that stopped and he became a bit of a pussy cat in midfield!

I wasnt his number 1 fan.....

He was ok when he used to wind players up, but like you said ne became a bit of a pussy cat and was not worth the money.

Its not that he went a good servant or man

Its the fact so many Cov fans don't understand this game and thought he was great

They know who they are on this forum too

If that really is the case why has no championship club ever considered Jennings good enough?

Doyle has certainly made a better living out of the game and played at a higher level. I am actually not a fan of his but those are very obvious facts.

Doyle was our most loyal servant since prem days i've got alot of respect for him, he was messed about at the end.

As a player, when he was box to box he was very good, but then he decided to sit deep to try and pull the strings plus take all the free kicks which wasn't his game and he was totally shite at! a player with not much ability, should'av stuck to what he was good at! played in some horrendous cov sides tho!

Doyle is never going to be everyone's cup of tea. He's never going to be a great of the game.
But he does a job, and for the most part does it well.
He never hid (unlike some I can think of when things got bad) and can never be accused of not putting the effort in.
Leave off him.

You have a lot to learn my friend

1st half we played 442 so therefore bad
Part of the 2nd half we played 4411 therefore amazing

You will catch on to SBT logic soon enough

Doyle was only "loyal" because no other club even wanted him. One good half season (alongside Wise) doesn't make him a Cov hero in my eyes.

Conversely he made up for his lack of ability by always giving 100%, for that I doth my hat but he quite simply wasn't good enough.

But Doyle wasn't good at championship level really.they both play in the same league now, Jennings seems the better of the 2. Would you swap Doyle for jennings

He's older isn't he? And you can factor luck into it and deluded managers

Jennings could yet beef his c.v up, hopefully with us!

As much as I disliked doyle, he's defiantly had a better career than most our players.

Baker in the championship was generally dire but in league one he's decent.

As for luck etc i think this can account for 1 or 2 seasons or managers but not as long as Doyle had.

Most players always find their level, look at Barry Quinn!!
