Apparently 4+ fans were ejected for carrying in balloons with SISU OUT!
They were told, that COVENTRY CITY told them to remove balloons...

This doesn't make sense to me.

Why would the Reading stewards listen to our owners.

Exactly...
We got told by the save our city lads, on our coach that 4+ got kicked out for not handing balloons in... Then were told it was coventry city demanding to take balloons off fans, as they heard on the radio balloons and banners were being taken!

according to brinner it's true. I would question though that if you believe stewards you have a problem.

It was said on CWR that banners were not taken off fans but Brinner reiterated there was a situation re. balloons yet to be confirmed.

Anythings possible with SISU in charge, but I just cannot believe there is truth in this.

I hear it's kicked off outside the ground after the match. Can anyone who's gone confirm that??

Well there was banter between sets of fans all game, and I think cov fans had enough and with the actions on the pitch, some went over the top and tried spilling into the reading end.

That didn't happen at all. The Reading fans were taunting is at the end and came to one side of their end. Some City fans, less than 50, went to our side of the netting and gesticulated back. Separated by stewards. Only put fans were videod, which was poor as the Reading fans were provocateurs, but the fans never came into contact with one another, and neither set 'imvaded' the others area

Yes this is correct.

It was actually 6 fans that got ejected from the ground for handing out balloons to people, a few hundred were took off people going in to the ground before the game aswell.

I could not believe what id been told so at the end of the game i sought out 1 of the senior stewards who did confirm to me that CCFC had been in touch with Reading earlier in the week and had asked for this to be done.

So what next?? ban any suppoerter that shouts "sisu out" during a game??

Just reafirms my belief that the current owners do not give a shit about the fans aswell as the football team.

Time to up the ante now and start really embarrasing the parasites that is sisu, with the olympics coming up the people of coventry have a great chance to embarass these people in front of the worldwide media and let as many people as we can know what they have done to our football club.

If they are still here in 12 months time we will be in a relegation battle to stay in league 1.

Agreed we need to step up the protests!
Ever since the southampton protest the efforts have been poor.
Whether its due to a couple of wins and the loan signings introduced I don't know, but even yesterday at 2 down there was no effort!!

I had a look at the leeds fan site the other day and a cov fan had posted ideas of a joint protest, sisu-bates out protest?
Not sure that would work, but at least its a idea.

After what's been said about the board telling stewards to take 'sisu out' items of fans I think its gone to far.
We need sisu out!!

How about a mass sit in ( on the pitch ) at the next Saturday home game before or after . It needs something desperate to make our voices heard , so far i think it has been a waste of time , there has only been one winner and its not been the fans .

The stewards removed Ginetta's SISU Out banner too (see his thread).

It happened.

SISU think they can do whatever they like.

i would suggest hand-cuffing yourself to the oppositions goal but there would be even less chance of publicity as we very rarely score !!!!!:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

I don't believe on the pitch will work as many will decide not to.
But a mass sit in, in one of the stands is a good idea.
Let's say everyone moves round to the tesco stand.
Then we can sit in for 20 minutes and protest?

Confirms that Reading did receive orders from SISU. Orders may be a bit strong, but as the security officer for Stewards if the visiting teams owners suggest something may cause trouble you're going to do it.

It's obvious that clubs all talk to each other, especially about security matters.

But taking balloons off people is extremely harsh in my opinion. Does prove that SISU don't like their name shown all over the place.

Glenn - sorry to burst your balloon (please excuse the terrible pun) but that article is just a rehash of Kev Monks' article off his own site so is hardly gospel! If true its very petty by SISU and hard to understand - if SISU are OK about us protesting at our own ground as they now appear to be why would they instruct another club to clamp down on it and why would the other club do their bidding?

We just need to get as many people as possible handing out balloons and sneaking them into all games.

Flood the stands with them....!

SISU OUT!

so SISU allow a demonstration outside the ground by 300 people chanting SISU out but insist that blue and white balloons some with SISU OUT on should be confiscated by the Reading stewards. Wasnt it supposed to be a back the boys trip ? Just out of interest when was the decision to take the balloons taken, how did SISU/CCFC find out, when did they notify Reading, what has actually been said by each club officially? Not saying what is reported by some fans is incorrect just want to know the facts from both sides.

I am sure there is contact regarding security matters between the clubs but the risk assessment is Readings not CCFC's. My only opinion on it is that there are far more important things to worry about at our club - but that is just my opinion

On a positive point - well done to all who went shows that there is heart in the fans of this club

Haha, I see what you did there . As I said, I'm not sure if it's true but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

And it's hardly "bidding" I expect it was phrased all nice and flowery in a suggestion and Reading complied. I mean look at it from there viewpoint? Why not comply?

The main reason for not complying would be the ill feeling and potential trouble such heavy handed action could cause, as it did at our game against Derby when SISU managed yet another golden PR own goal. I am sure it happened but cannot see Reading doing it just cos Cov / SISU asked them to - what benefit to SISU would there be in such action? I wonder if it was more to do with Readings own policies and stewards being over zealous and blaming the opposition club when confronted. Were people ejected for handing out balloons or for getting mouthy and aggressive when asked to stop - just asking. If it was simply for handing out balloons then hopefully they will be consulting relevant legal authorities to get some compensation - I would even suggest the Football Supporters Federation might be interested and hopefully SOC will get on the case.

Jan it did happen, Andys mate got 200 odd took off him at the turnstile and Andy himself was chucked out at half time for distributing them to fans in the concorse.

I couldnt believe what i heard so went to see a senior steward and he confirmed to me that CCFC had been in contact earlier in the week to ask them to do it.

Shows our owners for what they are and hopefully they have yet again shot themselves in the foot as it looks like its galvanised a lot more fans in to wanting sisu out who were sitting on the fence before.

Rob - as I say not disputing it happened as I'm sure it did - just puzzled that if SISU did ask Reading to do it what they hoped to achieve by it? They are allowing protest at the Ricoh so why would they be bothered by a few balloons at Reading - just bizarre. I sincerely hope that you take up my suggestion above of contacting the Football Supporters Federation and making an issue of it.
