“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
We all know who said that as a flippant and of the cuff remark aimed at the Liverpool board at the time.
You’d think on the match thread that a game of football involving Coventry City for some people is the be all and end all.
The mature amongst us know that losing on a Saturday or Tuesday night is not really that important in the grand scheme of things.
I'm not a good loser and seeing city lose feels personal not being able to share highs and lows at a game is unnatural the same as drinking indoors to a pub is soulless and I'm drinking less & less because the social side of a pub with your mates and the interaction between fellow fans in the ground, before and after the games cannot be replaced. I follow is all well and good and I do think it's got a place after covid, buts it's not the future.
When we lose I'm in a proper mard with everything and everyone. Ruins my day. Always tell myself its just football but its more than that for us isnt it?

Yep.. this is me
Had years becoming less bothered leading up to Northampton but since then I’ve gone the same as I was for years as a young bloke...kids and Mrs just know to avoid me now for at least the few hours after. It’s all emotional immaturity but I’m 53 FFS. I deal with it by pretending it hasn’t happened!!!!
One of the lessons I have learned after 54 years of supporting Coventry City is that we win a few, lose a few and to treat them as the same once the game is over. That said the winning season last year felt quite strange as we seldom lost and 16-17 felt bloody horrible because we hardly ever won.
I have no influence over the outcome and my predictions, voodoo doll or lucky underpants change nothing.
The one thing that has changed over the years is the introduction of social media but I suppose it is no different to sitting close to the know it all in the ground. Just more of them on here!
