We play more games at a much higher intensity in the Championship than most other leagues.
Last season MR said Sakamoto and Eccles were desperately in need of resting, even before the cup run.
And how did our final quarter of the season go after the cup run exhausted us?
We plummeted out of play off contention due to exhaustion.
That on its own is evidence enough of the need to rest and rotate players when opportunity arrises.
Just out of interest, how many players have we used in the first 3 games???
Rotation is the key!!!!
The Chelsea of the Championship
As far as fitness goes and intensity, I think Vik is just a very special athlete. It's pretty crazy he plays the full game every game - often when carrying a knock as well. He's done that both at Cov and also at Sporting.
I think this depth in attack is going to help players like Wright and Simms play with a higher intensity knowing they can/will be replaced if they're really flagging. This is a good thing for us.
How often does Vic get subbed after an hour for Sporting, infact what about all the other quality strikers in their divisions, do they go off after an hour every week?
Of course I understand rotation, but I also understand that when fit your best players should always be playing
That's just one game - I think generally speaking - the guy worked extremely hard most games, all game. He played when injured, he still plays when injured now - and he wants to play the entire game. I think that's pretty special. Not sure I agree Biggy that he was a special athlete. He did sometimes go missing in games, including the playoff final. I know he assisted Gus but I don’t recall him being involved once. Engine wise I wouldn’t say he’s special, just fit and not injury prone I’d say.
I'd rather have Asante that Tavares or Da Silva as optionsAnd this year we have EMC, Bassett and Rodriguez, aswell as Tavares and Da Silva. Just don't get the signing of Asante. Doubt we'll make profit in him either.
Asante is a striker EMC isn'tYou're forgetting the 3 other forward players we signed and Sakamoto returning from injury.
Fair enough Asante if we didn't sign EMC or Bassett, but we did.
I think you’re right, we should go into a 46 game season with 11 top players and then the rest can be kids. We only need 11 players to be at the level.Bassett is a striker, so is Wright.
Currently listening to Neil Warnock’s audiobook on Spotify and it’s interesting as well as being revealing!
Do you deliberately not listen to Robins and a performance director saying how all the players need a rest or are overplaying? Forgive me if i trust their knowledge over yours.Simms is 23 not 43
I'm pretty certain no-one is implying Simms would be taken off on the hour every week as a policy...it's called having options, for once. For reference, Haaland mostly played 90 mins last year, but not every single game...he was subbed at half time in one, if I remember right, and not because of injury...I'm sure you know this and are just being purposefully stubborn for the sake of it. It reads dumb otherwise.Or we can have one of the best strikers n the league, but only let him play 50% of available game time to accommodate our 2 other inferior forwards.
Once again, how often do top teams rest their best players?! How often does Vic get subbed off for Sporting? Did Mitrovic get subbed after 60 mins in the season he scored 40 for Fulham? Did he fuck.
So is Bassett just here for when Asante needs a rest after helping Simms while he rests?
We're talking about elite athletes, you think they can't play for longer than an hour?
All I know is add the CM to this side and we will be class
To be really needy I genuinely do think we need a RB too as priority. If MVE gets injured or needs a rest we are in trouble.
So basically he’s a youth international
that took a Ligue 2 club to the French version of the Youth Cup final, was one of the best players in the tournament alongside now Bayern striker Mathys Tel, went out on loan and looked impressive.
Came back from loan, figured out some decent size clubs were in for him and stopped playing to force a move. And it seems like we offered the best fee.
Could be another wonderkid who doesn’t live up to his potential or could be our next £20m sale in two years time when he’ll still be only 21.
Simms scored the winner vs Bristol? It’s the first time we’ve ever had real options to make a difference and not just about expecting to select exactly the same 11 every week.
For instance, Simms has been relatively quiet the first two games (lack of service yes but more his all round game of pressing from the front and giving us a high tempo press). We therefore have another option in BTA who gives us something else and has so far made us look a better team up top when he’s on the pitch as he’s putting opposition defenders under pressure.
There will be times when Simms is playing better than BTA and vice Versa. There will also be times to rest players and cup games and when we call for a completely different type of team and striker (Bassette). These are the options we now have at our disposal which is fantastic.
It serves to push players to play their best. No one player can now expect just to be handed a start because of their name and transfer fee.

Doug - we’re really happy with what we’ve done in the window and I’ve stopped gossip and rumours at source
Generally agree with you TBF - I think Robins will be under pressure this season to sub some of our best players off to give other players minutes. Arguing (e.g) Wright might need a rest overlooks the fact that some of his most important goals for us have been scored in stoppage time.Do we need those many options though? How do imagine Robins keeping everyone happy?
Also, why does depth only count upfront? We're fucking wank at the back but everyone seems happy we're spunking millions on a back up to a back up forward.
Not going mental just pointing out you know next to nothing about physical conditions of each player, during a game etc.Just find it strange we need 2 back up strikers, that's all. Everyone going mental at me because a have a different opinion. Bunch of lunatics.
Keep it calm...signings don't have to be made in a specific order...like "Shit, there's a striker we like and he's available, but we haven't signed an extra centre half or midfielder so we have to wait." Signing the right players isn't fucking easy! Again, this is pretty obvious stuff and is rehashed every transfer window. We're also not "wank" at the back, that's emotional shite. We could probably do with an experienced head that could make a positive difference, but they're not 10 a penny, clearly.Do we need those many options though? How do imagine Robins keeping everyone happy?

Some of the discourse on here is insane mate. Some posters seemingly take personal offence to anyone questioning the club’s decisions.I know that. I just think having 3 expensive signings for one position is slightly excessive and expensive considering we are desperate in other positions.
And you can say "I told you so" when we don't have any injuries or suspensions, or dips in form and Robins loses the dressing room because no-one can get a look in. Until then though, I think you're ok to have a little chill and see how it goesI know that. ignore em mate. most the people on here are that unathletic and sporty, they'd get out of breath playing subuteo. I agree with your points.I know that. I just think having 3 expensive signings for one position is slightly excessive and expensive considering we are desperate in other positions.

It's not really though is it? It seems the other way round - you pair are taking it personally that we're bolstering the squad. We have no clue what's going on behind the scenes, to think they are not looking at all areas of the squad and trying their damnedest to improve in every area, after what they have proved so far in 3 windows, is actually insane. Some of the discourse on here is insane mate. Just over a year ago I genuinely got out of breath climbing the stairs. Not anymore thankfully, though Subuteo might be a bridge too farI genuinely think I might.
