I think we’ll be able to spend relatively well; it wasn’t long ago that it claimed we were skint and then we signed Grimes.I'm starting to think we may look at another CF in the summer too, and I'm fairly certain given the 433 seems to be Franks favourite system that we'll look for a right forward too.
I'd be surprised if we could afford to spend, at least decent money on 6 players, so we may have to be smarter in the free market for at least a couple of them.
Oh i agree, i'm not going full GIMOC, but to spend out on around 6 players of the quality we'd want? I'm not sure, i think its smarter if at least a couple of them are free.I think we’ll be able to spend relatively well; it wasn’t long ago that it claimed we were skint and then we signed Grimes.
To your point, I think if we are still in the championship there’s quite a few decent pick ups on a free, Darling and Poku for instance.Oh i agree, i'm not going full GIMOC, but to spend out on around 6 players of the quality we'd want? I'd be all in on Poku but he won't be free in the traditional sense. It's well reported that a pretty hefty fee decided at tribunal is expected. To your point, I think if we are still in the championship there’s quite a few decent pick ups on a free, Darling and Poku for instance.
Darling and Poku for instance.
Most probably get a player like Poku cheaper with a tribunal decision than negotiating with a club on a player under contract. A yes from me.I'd be all in on Poku but he won't be free in the traditional sense. It's well reported that a pretty hefty fee decided at tribunal is expected.
Darling mostly plays CB but he can play across the backline. If Poku is definitely available on a free (assume some compo due to his age) then he'd be a brilliant pick up based on his position and his output. Not seen him play but if he's 80% as good as EMC, that'd be a great piece of business. Is Darling purely a CB? Think I saw him talked about as a LB option somewhere on here.

Yes because being 6th after selling Hamer and Gyokeres and reinvesting hasnt worked has it?Sorry but losing 2 of Sheaf / MVE or Wright would be disastrous and again rule out promotion for the following season. The Ownership need to show some signs of ambition and not flog our best players at the earliest opportunity.

Brentford went up the year after selling their front 3. All teams sell players. Dont wet yourself just because we do it to
Nah his binHave you been snooping around Dean Austin's desk.
We need to keep Wright (and I think we will). Sheaf is no longer a big loss to us, so long as he is replaced suitably. Right back is the interesting one: if MVE goes we probably need 2 decent right -sided defenders rather than one.Yes because being 6th after selling Hamer and Gyokeres and reinvesting hasnt worked has it?

Who were out of contract? Vik and Hamer had another year left. Do you want to go to the barrel again to find your next enlightening post?Awful comparison as they were out of contract but I’ll humour it. We haven’t made the play offs since we sold them. We will continue to fail to gain promotion if we sell our best players.
Good for Brentford, when are we getting promoted then?

You claim we sell at the first opportunity yet amazingly we havent sold anyone for 2 years and reached a cup semi final and a top 10 finish in that time. And guess what we are currently in the top 6 this season.
Can’t agree with sold them at the earliest opportunity when we’ve turned down offers for Sheaf and Milan last summer and January (not too mention last January for Sheaf) respectively.Sorry but losing 2 of Sheaf / MVE or Wright would be disastrous and again rule out promotion for the following season. Losing players is always difficult but that’s the only way our club can compete and can attract the level of talent.
Plus not sure if Sheaf would be as disastrous as you make out just solely because of how reduced his impact has been this year (not his fault).
LB is our biggest issue in this squad. Both options are poor
Bidwells new contract looks very strange atm, although we did manage to flog Matt Godden despite renewing his contract and his legs having gone.LB is our biggest issue in this squad. Both options are poor
Which argument is it supporting? You said we sell all our players at the first opportunity. I was pointing out that we dont. So we made only the second FA cup semi final in our history but that isnt good enough for you? We signed Grimes in January and sold nobody. What more do you want? We didnt need to sell either Hamer or Gyokeres but we got £35 million for 2 players with a year left and rebuilt the whole squad of our own players not loans.Yes they had one season left which meant they needed to be sold, that is not the case for Wright and MVE and we have an option for Sheaf. They should all be retained.
So we didn’t sell anyone last season and are now in the top 6? That supports my argument not yours so thanks for pointing that out.
The cup semi final is a load of nonsense. I only care about trophies we win not ones we fail to reach the final in. We flogged Hamer and Gyokeres and failed to reach the play offs. Lessons need to be learned from that.
Reported we turned down Sheaf from Luton last year in January by people on here and I think Luton confirmed it but will see if I can confirm.Have we turned down offers?
(Priority for me has to be a back up RB and starting if we sell MVE), starting LB, A ball playing CB who ideally can play on both sides and a RW to offer tats so competition.Nice to not need a full rebuild. Not accounting for any outgoings we certainly need a quality starter LB and a back up RB bare minimum the rest would be upgrading what we have
Sheaf hasn’t even contributed much. Getting 6-7m for him, spending half of that on a replacement and using the rest elsewhere would improve the squad.Sorry but losing 2 of Sheaf / MVE or Wright would be disastrous and again rule out promotion for the following season. The Ownership need to show some signs of ambition and not flog our best players at the earliest opportunity.

MVE again confirmed by a couple of sources in the media and on here. Think there was even a Roma source saying we out priced them.
Luton to Sheaf to be fair was reported across the media and MVE to Gala and Roma was reported internationally.Sorry pal but reported by Saddle means it likely wasn’t true. As far as I’m aware the club have repeatedly denied that there were offers for anyone.
I just pull people up when they cant decide which argument to pick. You said we sell anyone at the first opportunity, your words not mine, yet we dont and havent for a good while. I am waiting for you to explain how we improve the squad when you insist we cant sell any players to fund these improvements. Should be fascinating to hear your insight.I didn’t think I would need to spell it out but anyway.
‘The ownership needs to not sell our best players at the earliest opportunity’. That is not saying they have, that is saying we must not sell them in order to improve as a team.
You have correctly pointed out that after selling Hamer and Gyokeres we failed to make the play offs having made them the year before.
The summer just gone, we didn’t sell any of our best players and are challenging for the play offs.
This coming summer, we need to keep our best players in order to compete again and not regress like we did after Gyokeres and Hamer left.
It’s not hard to understand but I recognise any mention of Bling making a mistake will set you off

Just don’t agree we’ve sold anyone at the first chance, it’s not like the Sisu days were we sold Dom at undervalue to make sure the pitch was done.
Players were promised the step up either with us or with someone else and if we don’t deliver we’ll struggle to recruit more in the future especially at our wages.
