He never said it....he said they couldn't find a head coach that (A) Mark Robins wanted to work with & (B) who wanted to be number two. That is (literally) incredible
That's a bit different thenHe never said it....he said they couldn't find a head coach that (A) Mark Robins wanted to work with & (B) who wanted to be number two.
Willful ignorance from some on here unfortunately. It was implied through out that Mark was opposed to have a number 2 an experienced assistant, and instead wanted a flat back room set up. DK challenged it in the summer and at their meeting on Sept 30.
Robins never put forward an assistant to King. King confirmed it wasn’t about package either because no one was ever put forward by Robins.
....and some of that was because MR seemed to have a good working relationship with Joy & TimI'm fairly sure a manager who doesn't have that would cease to be a manager quite quickly

Not doubting you at all on that but I think by that point in the process Doug King had decided to Sack Mark Robins. We could’ve had Ramsey in as a #2 but the owner denied it.
Which is what happened between him and King by the looks of it
Only going to be one winner

oh, come on.
He gave AV a four year deal. Doubt AV was extended against MR's wishes. Less than a year into that, MR tells him he can't work with AV. King sucks it up.
MR is on record as saying he's glad he doesn't have to do everything anymore. He's on record as saying that the coaches lead with tactics and training.
MR gives the green light to new coaching appointments. We start - or keep - tanking despite most gaps in the squad being sorted out pretty quickly.
He's given better training facilities than anyone's probably ever had at the club. He's had all the money from sales spent on players he approved signing.
No speculation allowed here - explain what points to a poor working relationship between the two of them? I'm lost on that one. Really don't see it at all.
That's most definitely the case.Though I do think whatever went on between Robins and Viveash was the beginning of the end.
You think their relationship hadn't deteriorated?
According to someone who you can't / won't name. If people are allowed to question how complete or honest DK's version is, feel like other sides to the story should get the same scrutiny.
I think by that point the writing was on the wall and DK probably didn't want to hand out a contract he might have to terminate within a fortnight. You don't believe USskyblue then?

I suspect he was going to be sacked if we lost v Luton. It's somewhat unpalatable to sack a manager after a win.

Yep. The situation appears to read that DK was done by that point and waiting for the next really bad result/performance.. which didn’t really materialize until Derby. The timing aspect of getting in an assistant wasn’t mentioned at the forum and it’s created an information gap.
MR and AV’s working relationship seemingly wasn’t as stable as we thought and came to a head after each publicly spoke about their differences of opinion. Seems it was the last straw which as King eluded to, is a damn shame.
“Everyone is obsessed with the midfield and obviously there has been a few injuries there but we have high quality in there. I mean, how many midfielders do we want? We have the four that we know about (Eccles, Sheaf, Torp, Rudoni), we have Kai Andrews, Jamie Allen, had Kasey Palmer... We have Joel (Latibeaudiere) who can play in there. Maybe we should have nine or ten, do you know what I mean?”
Is the ghost of Kasey Palmer going to be starting next Saturday? Odd comment from Douglas thereHaven’t seen this posted elsewhere yet - Big Doug has weighed in on Stamenic and the midfield: Doug King on Ben Sheaf, Marko Stamenic and Coventry City’s midfield numbers

It is concerning to say the least that someone who admitted to having no interest in the game as recently as two years ago is apparently using his own football judgment to decide on transfer policy. Why does he feel the need to comment on that?
Because he was specifically asked a question on it by Turner and as we all know some fans believe its the lack of midfield strength that cost Robins his job.Why does he feel the need to comment on that?

He thinks this ‘deck’ is far stronger than it actually isBecause he was specifically asked a question on it by Turner and as we all know some fans believe its the lack of midfield strength that cost Robins his job.
Not everything in a conspiracy.
Sheaf, Bidwell, Eccles and Collins would all get into the playoff final team as well - three of them did!The whole best deck of players is debatable also, from the current side only Haji and MVE get into the play off final team.
Sounds almost like Robins was telling him what we all were that we needed a midfielder but he thinks he knows better from his response.Because he was specifically asked a question on it by Turner and as we all know some fans believe its the lack of midfield strength that cost Robins his job.
