I still remember that Bury draw, that one felt worse than most defeats I've seen.
Which game was there the Kevin Malaga header, which is the second worst header in my Cov supporting existence (Moldovan Bramble Lane 1998 being the worst), clear evidence that Malaga was well out of his depth like most of Thorn's 2012/13 pre-season signings.
Thought Venus' last game as caretaker was the televised Sheff U game with the pitch invasion. 1-2 defeat. The last 4 "permanent" (LOL!) managers who left us after poor results (and thus excluding MR going to Huddersfield), have left the club after a draw, not a defeat:
Thorn 2012 - home draw v Bury
Pressley 2015 - 2-2 draw with Sheff U
Mowbray 2016 - draw with Wimbledon at home on a weeknight
Slade 2017 - draw with Shrewsbury away
Can't really be bothered to check what the result was in Venus's last game, but he wasn't official manager anyway.
It was indeed.Thought Venus' last game as caretaker was the televised Sheff U game with the pitch invasion. 1-2 defeat.
Think Doyle scored for them. The last SP game was also against Sheff U - from memory we were 2-0 up but let in 2 late goals to draw 2-2. The result saw us drop into the relegation slots for the first time that season, and TF pulled the trigger.
With Mowbray we actually got a very late goal to pull off a home draw with Wimbledon, which on the match thread on here got an ecstatic reaction...but very quickly it was clear he'd resigned that evening as that had been the 10th league game in a row, from the start of the season, without a win.
I was surprised about the timing of Slade's sacking, thought he'd have actually gone after the Bury defeat 4 days earlier (midweek away defeat) but he was kept on for the Saturday Shrews away game, then sacked after a creditable draw where we were disrupted by the Rose injury early on. If I remember right, those two games were the last 2 of a run of 6 against weaker teams in the division and we'd won at most one of them. The remaining games that sesaon were mostly against top half sides and after we failed to beat either Bury or Shrews, TF decided we were effectively down and pulled the trigger so we could start preparing for the next season and also go to Wembley without Slade there being a dead man walking.
Hope you're sitting down. He is above ours. Plays for Rochdale in L1!!I was more worried about Reece Brown who may still be stealing a living in our division.

He got a point (should have been three, and would have been if not for 93rd minute equaliser) at Wimbledon away on the Tuesday night game on St Valentine's Day....another surprising fact is that my girlfriend agreed to come along for the game without making much of a fuss!Wait, so we didn't actually lose all games under Slade?
That is a surprising fact!
