Six patients treated for swine flu at Coventry University Hospital
SIX patients are critically ill with swine flu at University Hospital.
A hospital spokesman confirmed they were being treated in the critical care unit but further details have not been made available.
In a statement, hospital chiefs urged those most at risk of flu to get a free flu jab.
"We can confirm we're currently treating six patients in our critical care unit for swine flu," the statement said.
"Swine flu's one of the main strains of this year’s winter flu which we know is prevalent in the community. We would urge those particularly at risk of flu, such as those over 65, pregnant women, and under 65s with long-term conditions to get their free flu jab, which is available through their GP."
The statement added those suffering from flu should stay at home or ring their GP by telephone if the symptoms persist or get worse.
