Think Stupot said the teams only get about 28,000 each anyway and the rest are corporate.

Is that right?

We would sell out easily but it would take a time as the ticket office don't seem to be the quickest, probably get you tickets just before the start of the new season:facepalm:

To play in an almost half empty stadium though? Ridiculous.

Something must have changed, cos I've looked back and all the attendance are around the 40,000 mark until you go back to 2010, where Millwall played Swindon in front of 73,000. Since then, all 40,000's apart from that one that was just over 50,000.

Did they change the rules all of a sudden?

Last 5 finals all with much reduced attendances.

Just had a look back, Millwall had 47500 that day in a crowd of 60k.

Fair to say walking back down Wembley way to the tube station being outnumbered almost 4 to 1 was an unnerving experience after an 85th minute Scunthorpe winner in a 5 goal thriller.

Is it the rules? Or do they just struggle to fill it?

Im not sure if the fact the Scunthorpe knew they would only sell 10-15 allowed Wembley to open it up to more Millwall fans and the missing 30k was the corporate that day?

I was there weeks before also for Scunthorpe v Luton in the JPT final when Luton had 40k compared to Scunthorpes 10-15 again, different competition but may point to the fact that if one team says there is no way they will sell almost half of their 28k they may reallocate.

Would be interresting to see if Millwall got an initial allocation of 28k that day.

The Club Wembley part is always reserved for corporate, you don't buy tickets for individual events you buy for all events over a set number of years. That's all the 200 level and the 3 blocks in the centre that you see on TV. That's 17K tickets unavailable. Of course the L1 play off might not be of interest to those seat owners so they may become available.

The rest are up for grabs. Looking at last year the Championship Play Off Final teams had allocations of over 37K each (at up to £90 a ticket). Add in Club Wembley and that's capacity.

Getting more woud probably require the other team to not request their full allocation.

Well they wouldn't for Sheff Utd. They got 18,000 on Saturday for a league game, they would surely be able to muster 40,000 -50,000 in a play off final. We would and Sheff Utd get better crowds than us.

The other matches perhaps, but the Sheff Utd one shows the system is wrong. 52,000 total attendance v Huddersfield, which is also a local derby.

After a little dig on a SUFC forum I found this re their Playoff final 2012 v Hudds

http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/wembley-ticket-details.26972/

This match is ALL TICKET for Blades fans. Sheffield United have been allocated the East Side of Wembley Stadium and approximately 39,800 tickets are available.

One poster not quite as optimistic as you with their fan base Otis,

Glad they've made it 2 tickets per person. Should allow folks with loyalty points to still sit with family and friends, and the points brackets seem sensible.

I doubt we'll shift 40k. Hopefully around 30k.

Sounds like Hudds only took 21k and tickets were made available on the day to Sheff U fans, must not be the "huge" club their home attendences would suggest.

Two club city you have to remember so the "day trippers" that we would get if we made it would be a lot less in the Steel city you would think.

Don't get that at all. That doesn't make sense.

Not unless that 52,000 attendance is wrong. If Sheff Utd got just under 40,000 tickets, that means Huddersfield only took 12,000 to the play off final, despite having 15,000 for their home play-off match.

I need to check elsewhere to confirm the Wembley attendance.

Yep, just checked on the Beeb. The final was indeed 52,100.

There is surely no way on this earth that Huddersfield had 15,000 for their home play-off match and then took 2,000 less than that to the final. That would be bizarre beyond belief.

They got 40 but only sold 30k.

Looking through that thread they had only sold 21k with 3 days left of sales and being made available on the gate.

Wow! How can Sheff Utd get 18,000 for a home League One game and yet cannot double that for a play-off final?

We all know that City would easily sell 40,000 tickets and probably even 50,000.

If we get allocated 40,000 I guarantee we will sell out.

I agree, however they do seem to be in the playoffs every 2nd year so the novelty must wear off, it would be a novelty for us to play at Wembley, it is a novelty for them to have a season where they dont play there at the moment.

The home leg of a the playoff would fill the ricoh and we would sell our 40k for Wembley. Hopefully we would get a Sheff U or a Wigan in the playoffs for a decent away allocation, although I would take a Walsall or Gillingham for football reasons.

Yep.

What you have to do though is to read that out loud, but in a broad Yorkshire accent.

Sounds much more believable then.

When leaving Scunthorpes Playoff semi, a handful of weeks after the mass of 12k descended on Wembley for the JPT final defeat, they beat MK dons in a pentalty shootout to make it to the play off final, I heard a bloke say to his lad, "F**k sake, we're going to have to go down to that Wembley again now, cost me a bloody fortune last time" in a rich gypo lincolnshire accent, I was lost for words.
