Can we field one?

:eek::eek:

Cranie, Clingan, McSheff, ROD and Murphy all serious injury doubts for the Forest game.

I think we may well get completely overrun in midfield if Clingan and McShuffty are missing. Forest have Greening and McGugan and without the likes of Clingan in there, there is going to be a lot of pressure on Deegan to try and run the show for us. Does point to possibly two kids in the midfield if Sheff and Clingan are both out.

We would really miss Cranie too.

It's only October and already are paper thin squad is starting to creak and look even more flimsy.

Okay, so Wood and McPake are on the way back, but the centre of defence is the one area where we have plenty of cover with Keogh and Cameron in there as well as those three already mentioned.

Guess we've got to just cross our fingers and hope some of them can be bandaged up and sent out into the field of battle.

My worry too. Baker already out. Add to that Clingan and Sheff and that leaves Deegan, Bell and the kids.

And so much for those people on here who were saying we were going to do well this season. Others like myself could see how weak the squad was. We are already struggling and it is only October!! How on earth are we going to go all season. :(:(

Doesn't matter if we are playing good football or not, or whether Thorn is the right man for the job or not, or if we have good players or not. If you can't field a strong first team 11 every week there is only one way the season is going to go.

Suppose we can cling on to any small crumb of comfort.

Lot of people saying Dunn isn't ready. Guess we will find out.

It would be interesting to see a midfield that looks forwards more than backwards. With Deegans aggressive game and Bigi/Thomas making some cutting passes the midfield might actually be better off than normal. I'm just not sure who would play on the left?

Gael - Deegs - Thomas

McDonal - Platt - Juke

4-3-3 in attack 4-5-1 in defence. Mix up the short passing game and the long ball. Can't be any worse.

Errm that's not a diamond and Bell isn't in your line-up. A rethink is required!

-------Deegs
Gael --------- Thomas
---------Bell
McDonald ---- Juke

Nah I'd love your suggestion, just it aint gonna happen with Mr plan B Thorn around. He talks of plan B all the time but has anyone ever seen it?

Think he was being sarcastic!!

Otis, can't recall people on here saying we will do well? I for one thought we would BE okay, and not play/perform as bad as we thought.
Deegan in, wood back, thomas and gael gtting another run, we will be okay saturday IMO.....Forest are hardly pace setters this year are they?

I'd go with wing backs and put Gael in the role that best suits his style:

.....................Dunn.....................
.................................................
.........Keogh..McPake..Wood..........
Christie..............................Hussey
............Thomas.....Deegan............
......................Bigi......................
................Juke......Platt...............

Subs: Bell, McDonald, Cameron, Ruffels, Burge,

I like the look of this but would like to see Mcdonald getting a run. He will come good I reckon. Again it aint gonna happen because it's not a diamond. I'm sure AT has already stated he is not going to change the way we play.

If the players rumoured to be unfit don't play and the club don't bring in anyone to help out this weekend, even on an emergency basis, it will be the tipping point (if we haven't already had that ten times already). A totally clear sign that they've no intention whatsoever to help Andy Thorn put out a competitive team. Clingan, Crainie, Macca, Murphy, missing all those & no move to bring people in. It'll convince anybody surely that these parasites are closing down our club.

i agree,im somewhat excited to see a revamped midfield even though cvlingan has been ace this season imo

bigi/deegan/thomas.mcsheff for me

I dont think think playing in the hole best suits Bigi's style. To me he looks like his natural position is sitting at the base of the diamond in the clingan role.

My team, if all the injured players arent playing .

Dunn
Christie Keogh Cameron Hussey
Bigirimana
Deegan Thomas
Bell
McDonald Juke

Apaarently he is a natural attacking midfielder with one hell of a shot on him. His ideal position would be at the head of the diamond. I think i'm getting this from someone that was/is involved with the academy and has posted on here? Could be wrong though.

Its just my opinion on what I have seen. He played at the base in both the friendlies and was very impressive there. I dont think he looks entirely comfortable playing one of the wide positions as his main strength imo is keeping the game ticking over and from the base he has options to both sides and he spreads the play really well. I accept that he could do this in the hole as well but I dont think he has the natural desire of say McSheffrey or Deegan to get into the box and score/create somethinf. This may come with a bit more expirience admittedly.

I personally think Clingon is telling him not to get forward into the box. If Clingon is out I have a feeling we may see alot more to BIGI than we have so far.

Other than the diamond, our main formation is 4-3-2-1. We've used it at some point during most games this season. I don't like it because it gives less attacking strength at the expense of more solidity in midfield. But to slag AT off like he never tries anything different is a little bit unfair IMO.

Oh and your comment about Bigi-nope. He's no attacking midfielder. He's a deep-lying playmaker (Carrick/Busquets/Essien), rather than an in-the-hole type.

Gonna have to disagree again! I think what we are seeing is that Sammy is playing exactly where Gael wants to play. He naturally gravitates to that position when both are on the pitch, leaving us with 2 DMC's and too defensive. Sammy can usually be seen bollocking him and telling him to get wider/further up the pitch (LOTS of pointing and shouting!). That's partly why AT dropped him-he can't really play in the same side as Sammy.

woah nelly, I haven't slagged him off. I was asking what his plan B was, you have answered this so thanks. I am a big fan of Thorn and think that given a full squad of players that he had scouted we would be in the premiership.

I must be remembering wrong about Bigi. Thanks for setting me straight.

We have definitely played 4231, 433 and 352 at times this season so I wouldn't say thorn has no plan b. If the diamond is our plan a we should always start with it then move to plan b, c or d if it's not working.

With us conceding too much, especially late in the game through lack of experience, we shouldn't rule a back four of this out.....

Keogh McPake Cranie Wood

Thoughts?

I don't think McPake is ready and cranie is doubtful. I've got a feeling wood will play left back though, probably with Cameron and keogh centre backs with Christie right back, if cranie is injured.

This looks OK, but I'd be inclined to have Cody in place of Platt

I am feeling confident about Saturday
--------Murphy/Dunn
Keogh---Mcpake--Wood--Hussey
--------------Clingan
--------Gael-----------Deegan
--------------Mcsheff
--------Mcdonald----Juke

If a few players don't make it we may be in trouble though.

Assuming all injured are out and McPake is not yet ready I would go for

-----------------------------Dunn------------------------
Keogh--------Cameron----------Wood---------Hussey
--------------------------Bigi-----------------------------
Thomas------------------------------------------Deegan
--------------------------Bell-----------------------------
--------McDonald------------------Juke-----------------

I've heard Gael in for Sammy from a good source

Has to be..natural replacement for Sammy. This is his first chance since pre-season in his natural position, and I'm pretty darn excited about it.

I'd love to see McPake back, but it seems that Wood is ahead of him in terms of fitness. I wouldn't mind seeing one of them back, just to give us an old fashioned big, strong CB. I'd prefer McPake and don't really rate Wood at all, but we do need some know-how and experience in the side.

I see that Wood & McPake have been suggested a few times, even though they are not match fit - but I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures. There is someone else who is not match fit and didn't get a mention - Freddie. Now, I'm no big fan of his because of his attitude, but I think he could do a good job at the tip of the diamond if he applied himself.

Thoughts?

(Please don't beat me up about this!!)

From the leamington game although against non-league ,Geal definately played at the tip ,and totally ran the show spraying passes and sliding throughballs at will.
