From the leamington game although against non-league ,Geal definately played at the tip ,and totally ran the show spraying passes and sliding throughballs at will.

I thought so. But Nonleagueherewecome was so conviced that Bigi is not suited to this role that I doubted myself.

Gael hasn't really got a set position, altough I think his best is CDM he will cope in any position. He used to play In goal for the school team for about 2 years just because he enjoyed it...the 90 yard runs past the entire opposing team didnt impress the manager though

No he didnt Courtney Richards came on and played there. Think Wilson did it in the first half as well. Bigi DEFINATELY was at the base against Leamington and Nuneaton

Now do you all see why I was confused. The folk that were there can't even decide between them where he was playing.

Heres the team for that game.
Coventry City Team:
Dunn, Phillips, Ruffles, Bigirimana, Cameron, McPake, Brennan, Deegan, O'Donovan, Platt, Wilson, SUBS: Jeffers, Burge, Richards, Willis.

Im sure that Richards came on for Deegan and Jeffers came on for Platt or ROD and we lined up

Dunn
Phillips Cameron Mcpake Ruffles
Bigi
Deegan Brennan
Wilson
Platt ROD

Bigi got to be given a bit more freedom. You can see the confidence he has and the skill to try things. Might be just what we need. Deegan, as a tougher harder physical player to sit a bit deeper. But they could always interchange. Keep opposition guessing.
Whatever, the suicidal lack of a loan coming in when we're so short because we've got a small squad badly hit by injuries, it just shows up this sham of an outfit (cough spit) running this club. (into the ground). If ever we needed a couple of faces it was this week. The squad picks itself. There are no others to pick.

Deegan is a box to box player and the only one of the fit midfielders who will make a run into the oppositions box, he would be wasted if you made him sit.

Stu, yeah in an ideal world Deegan is the box to box man I'd agree, but if we have no Clingan tomorrow I just feel as a more physically built player Deegan is better suited to breaking up play. As a stop gap measure. Bigi isn't really built for it. And a few people around me have commented that they'd like to see him push forward. Ideally somebody like Lloyd Mcgrath would be good in that role tomorrow. But because this useless outfit have left us no options.....what can we do?
Maybe Michael McBride will work a miracle with Sammy Clingan and he'll play.

I was trying to think the other day, do any other teams currently play the 'diamond' formation? Is it a formation that has had success over the years for anyone? I can't think of anyone who plays it.

How many teams over the years have had a midfield lacking in depth, lacking experience or as poor as ours?
