So basically it wasn't sisu's fault then.
The only money a local authority would make from Ricoh Arena parking is fines. Most would be payable to Nuneaton and Bedworth and not CCC. The CCFC matchday buses always have been ran privately by pubs, supporter organisations or bus companies.
It's in CCC's best interest to see CCFC, Wasps and local businesses flourish. Why would they deliberately set out to hamper the success?
This whole episode is probably due to CCC being a bit naive and London Midland not providing the rolling stock required. Imo if they can't provide the service then someone else (Cross Country most likely) should be given the opportunity to.
No it's clearly all CCC's fault. They are responsible for the running of the trains and have so much power that they can tell a company what trains they can and can't run. Of course in the face of adverse publicity and a clear chance to earn a few quid London Midland are so scared of the immense power that CCC possesses they'd rather turn down profit and growth of their business than upset CCC. In fact I hear CCC have so much power they're going to overthrow the government and take over the country. The last bit was clearly told to me by an old school friend who works in government in a galaxy far far away a long time ago. He also said that CCC have acquired a death star and they will rule the universe.
I imagine that you fully support the council's plan to make Coventry part of Birmingham.
Can't understand the hullabaloo about all this to be honest, there were never going to be a mass of trains going from Cov to the Ricoh for supporters. When the train station was first muted over ten years ago that was on the idea the whole area was to be re-developed, the industrial estate, at Rowleys Green road and the red hills over the bridge, it hasn't and I have my doubts it ever will be. The train apparently holds 75 passengers I doubt 75 will get on or off at the new station a month.
Another load of tosh. Metropolitan councils will happen, in fact is happening all over the country, Tory policy. We either go hand in glove with Birmingham/Solihull/Wolverhampton or Leicester/Derby even Nottingham, it will happen. In a way we at Coventry are in a good position being bang in the centre, we can perhaps choose.I imagine that you fully support the council's plan to make Coventry part of Birmingham.

Then it's a total waste of money as it doesn't serve the stadium or the retail park. So, why was it built? Who benefited from it?
It is a waste as it currently stands and i am not sure who put the money up. Don't think it was our council. But i tell what should now be happening Torch. Disgruntled users of the Ricoh on match days football or rugby should be making waves about the ridiculous parking limitations. I can understand some nearby restrictions but 2 mles as the crow flies is crazy and i am certain this puts people off coming, especially those the other side of the city, there are only so many pub/club car parks or bits of land to park on, i can walk, live in Longford but still a decent walk as some twat has put a train line and canal in the wayThen it's a total waste of money as it doesn't serve the stadium or the retail park. Yes you do, every May it is called local elections !Who can choose? As far as I am aware the actual people it affects have very little day in it at all.

I like thatYou used to be anonymous on here. We now all know you're the chap that turns up to games with a pogo stick and a snorkel.

The infrastructures in place and trains will be rescheduled if there's a profit to be made.
Several extra carriages on existing train could be done now.

Not true. Read the response from London Midland. The appropriate infrastrucure is not in place i.e. an electrfied train line which can accomodate their existing rollong stock.
In infrastructure I mean the station and rails for large queues.
Surely extra carriages could be placed on the existing train that will pass the Ricoh at about 5:25 on a Saturday. I'm assuming that extra carriages are available as weekends are always quieter than weekdays.
Do you live in imagination land?
Not according to the response I had from London Midland.
Not read the detailed response I must admit. All I've seen is some execs comments.
Probably, but surely we need to question the train company who seem to be making excuses and not fully explaining the reasoning.
Electrification will give flexibility eventually so if that's the answer we will have to wait.
Below is the response I had 3 weeks ago from London Midland which I posted on another thread:
[h=2][/h] About 3 weeks ago I emailed London Midland about the regulatory and capacity of trains for the new station on match. I have been away, so missed the chance for a scoop ahead of the CT! NO spin though from the train company
Here is their response anyway from 11 August:
Dear Mr Monners (see what I have done there)
Thank you for your e-mail.
This is our current position in answer to your question:
The Coventry to Nuneaton upgrade is being delivered by Coventry City Council, Centro and Warwickshire County Council. It is funded by the three partners, the Department for Transport (DfT) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
This is the first part of the authorities’ three year plan to develop the route from Nuneaton to Coventry and Coventry to Leamington Spa. Initially there will be one train per hour in each direction between Coventry and Nuneaton. Planned work on the line in 2017 will allow the service to double to two trains per hour. This will also mean extra trains could run as a ‘shuttle service’ between Coventry and Coventry Arena for events at the Ricoh stadium.
Until this work is done, the advice is to use existing bus services to get to the ground on match days and for concerts. Due to capacity restrictions, Coventry Arena station may be closed for one hour after events at the Ricoh stadium. In the meantime the station operator, London Midland, and the Ricoh Arena owners are investigating ways of providing additional services to the stadium for special events and sports matches in the future.
My original email to them:
Quick question: What are the plans for extra trains and coaches on match days at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. The station is due to open in September I believe. There are rumours that it will be one single coach train per hour (which I find hard to believe). I would be grateful if you are able to shed any light.
Slightly random perhaps, but would be good to know – I can see the service being quite heavily used on match days
Thanks
Monners
I would imagine that if there is free diesel rolling stock somewhere in the country the cost of getting it to the Ricoh and operating it has to be outweighed by the profit they can make. Unless that is possible noting is going to happen until the line gets electrified and that isn't due to happen until 2017.
London Midland's diesel depot is in Tysley. As weekends on most lines offer a reduced service at weekends there is diesel rolling stock stored there over the weekend.
All it would need is that rolling stock to be moved over for use on the Coventry to Nuneaton line. That's not hard, the line from the depot goes to Leamington and from there they can easily get onto the Coventry to Nuneaton line. Evening matches might be trickier.
