Is it any different to the Crewe Academy model?

We've fallen quite a way away but we're not yet at Crewe level. Look at MK Dons, fending off interest for Dele Alli successfully so far and the rumoured amount if he does leave is 10 million. Is it any different to the Crewe Academy model?

You better go tell some of the top scouts in the UK and Europe at Spurs, Man Utd, Man City or Liverpool that he isn't very good then. I'm sure they are desperate for your opinion.Yes the academy model is the way forward at the moment and I expect them to largely honour that as we have seen with players coming through. Now sometimes one or two may have to go in order keep finances up especially if crowds are not increasing (lack of support for the team)
As for Maddison, sorry don't particularly rate him so not a big loss tbh. be glad of a fee and future fees rolled into his performance in later seasons and sell on clauses. Sometimes it's just good business.
Probably not mate....btw, When was the last time Crewe played in the premiership? Is it any different to the Crewe Academy model? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - so please excuse any spelling or grammar errors

If Maddison and Haynes are sold so early into their career here it would be extremely disappointing from the club, they haven't even proved anything yet at L1 level.
Are you sure?
Yep.
It's getting there though, isn't it? Probably our role model, especially if we can play in a much smaller stadium like they do. Fanbase is headed their way, too...

Possibly, but surely the slide has to stop and level out at some point?
Green championship, red L1
Crewe League positions (1998-2010) 11-18-19-14-22-02-18-21-22-13-20-22
CCFC. League positions (2000-2012) 11-20-12-19-08-17-21-17-19-18-23-15
Bears comparison if you ask me..
Not sure where you got your statistics from but Crewe were relegated a second time from the championship in 2006 so the last three numbers on Crewe should be in red, not to mention they spent 3 seasons in league 2 in the three years after you have conveniently stopped the 'comparison'

They are not the same years..but the same number of 'recent' years..
I could put up with even another relegation if you could offer me a promotion from Div 2 and some degree of bounceback in terms of support and overall direction. City in the top 2 in Div2 would get 10k plus comfortably and a huge away following.
Hopefully we're going to stick with the academy model as I think that the academy is an excellent asset to the club. However we do appear to be bringing players through that way and then we sell the best of them as soon as we get a sniff of interest it appears (before RFC get's upset) that there is no serious re-investment of that money in the team.
