The statement by Wasps Nick Eastwood, that the ball is in the sisu court to me just ain’t true. Looking at where we are now it’s 100% in his or should I say the Wasps court. We, we being sisu, are in the exact position we were this time last year when the one year deal was agreed and implemented it was known at that time court appeals were on going. The difference this time is this EC involvement which has to run its course now, come what may. Their decision will be pretty well be a yes or no decision sometime in the next twelve months. Although it’s annoyingly kicking the can down the road once done and a decision is made by the EC unless that decision can be appealed(surely not) everyone will know exactly where things stand. So I see no reason Eastwood can’t agree a further year for us at the Ricoh. Also I’m not convinced this EC involvement was that much of a surprise.

According to reports we are now looking at groundshare possibilities again but I find at this very late stage the silence of exactly where this could be and there’s supposedly two options with heads of terms signed on one a worry.
Pressure has to be brought on Eastwood/Wasps on their present stance to agree a further years rent from our Trust, CCC, local media, MPs and the Coventry public to a minimum twelve month extension similar to last year. Nothing will change doesn’t matter if Bill Gates turns up and buys ccfc, Ricoh, Wasps the whole kit and caboodle that EC decision one way or the other will happen.
There’s still a fortnight to go and a lot of water to go under the bridge
yet and I’m optimistic a deal can still be done but there is real worry and concern amongst supporters out there it needs sorting.

No offence, but I find your posts rambling and cliche ridden and often don't seem to make any point.

When even Madwitch sees it this way you know London Wasps have lost the PR war.

“We, we being SISU?”

I’m sorry but have I just woken up in some kind of twisted parallel universe? Since when did we start referring to SISU as we?!

The ball is in Wasps court simply because it is within their gift to ensure that CCFC remains in Coventry. They need to realise that if the want to be part of the Coventry and wider area community you don’t start by evicting the local football team. Regardless of what SISU do it is within their gift not to do that. If they fail to keep CCFC in Coventry then the Coventry and Warwickshire community needs to turn their backs on Wasps.

The longer it goes where everything goes quiet (since the wasps & sisu’s response) does makes me wonder slightly? Is it really a case that once city’s statement came out then that’s it....emails stop, phone calls stop, no dialogue at all, and pretend neither exist whilst facing away from each other?? From plenty of dialogue to nothing. That must be strange in the respective offices

Someone posted in the PSB WhatsApp group that Boddy had been in touch with someone they knew having heard about the protest emphasising the need for it to stay peaceful.
Whether that's an indicator that talks are on going or not I don't know but I suppose it could be interpreted that way

It needs to stay peaceful because it needs to stay peaceful. Frankly it's bollocks if it ends up claimed we miss out because if a protest, it's an irrelevance and clouds the message.

I've seen so many posts emphasising this I'm confident it will be.
If anyone starts playing up the rest of us need to tell them to behave.

Thing is, I doubt they would need much of an excuse. Look at them kicking off about people on the pitch and trying to send bills for it.

The point of my post was merely to give what may or may not be an indicator that talks are on or not.
I agree that the protest has to be peaceful regardless of anything else.

The pressure is there even without anybody doing anything. Wasps will have less income - rent, Food & beverage, parking, the Casino's income will take a large hit (they won't be happy about that). The negative media, the naming rights devalued without CCFC.
When things become clear(er), there is then the CCFC community within the city who will take anti Wasps stance/action (what that may be going forward, I do not know), but there are clearly disruptive (legal) actions that fans individually or collectively will be thinking of.

I'd say that's also an irrelevance to the message that Coventry needs it's football club.

I agree it IS within their gift. However, let us not delude ourselves that SISU are like a spoilt child. Offer them a doughnut & they will press for the one filled with jam. Offer them a jam-doughnut they will press for the one with icing on. Offer them the one with icing on the will press for the Black Forest Gateau!

A one year deal gifted will cost Wasps when entering into the next round of talks. SISU appear to revel in causing misery or ruining others to get things on the cheap...just like Wasps!

I don't think todays protest will have a great deal of affect on the outcome but you have to do something.
I think people from different factions of a fractured fan base getting together to protest peacefully is a start.

The protest does need to stay peaceful, respectful and certainly not showing a dislike to wasps (this is about the council not wasps), because this isn’t over I don’t think.

Agree and made that point in the other thread.

If anything it's got a few people who would otherwise be bickering together. It's more than most have done for years, even if it's just to have a beer together it's more progress than I can think of.

My opinion on SISU hasn’t and won’t change, they’ve got to go and the sooner the better. They’re unfit owners and unfit to be custodians of the club. However Wasps in the last week especially have convinced me by their behaviour that they are unfit owners and custodians of a asset that allows something that is part of the fabric of the city to remain part of the fabric of the city.

If they want to be part of the community they have a responsibility to not evict part of the fabric of the city, CCFC. All they’ve said with their current stance is that they don’t want to play their part in the community. Shame on them.

Quite! I thought i was in some kind of parallel universe when first Magwitch then Tony saying things i agreed with!!
But i don't agree with ATB that this is about the council not Wasps. I think there is far too much emphasis placed on what effect the council can bring. Other than owning the freehold to the Ricoh land (and being the subject of the EC complaint), any deal between Wasps and CCFC is none of their concern.

PS I don't agree with Magwitch's view that "we" are SISU either!

A weird response to the OP, who has given a sensible analysis of how things stand, correctly pointed out that the ball is in Wasps’ court, and clearly said that all parties should put pressure on them to give CCFC a deal pending the (unstoppable) EU investigation.

It’s the logical way forward. I wish I could agree with the OP that this will be over in 12 months though, as I can see years more of it:grumpy:

Once again we've been massively let down by the local media who allow Eastwood and Wasps to fire out statements yet fail to question them.

As soon as their statement was released people were point out it was impossible for the club or its owners to stop the EC investigation. Why are the local media not putting this to Wasps and questioning why they have changed the terms for talks to something that is literally impossible?

What's the old journalistic adage, something like if someone tells you it's raining, your job isn't to report that it's raining, you're job is to go outside and see if it's true.
No chance of our local media doing that and to be fair, it's a malaise that has spread through journalism in general.
