is that Maddison is being hailed in some quarters as our saviour, that we're just waiting for him to return from injury.

To me, it boils down to hope v expectation. Of course I hope he's the real deal but... so far he's played next-to-no first team games. It seems a) unrealistic to expect (as opposed to hope) he can carry a team and b) detrimental to his development to expect that too. It's somewhat different if he shows the temperament to step up to be the fulcrum, but dangerous to reply on a teenager who's barely played for us. If he reaches a consistent level of performance then great, but so far we're in the territory where he might be the next Gareth Bale, might be the next Kevin Thornton.

Personally, I'd see anything we get from Maddison this season as a happy bonus rather than an expectation.

Why would we have to rely on him when we are one point off top without him for the most of the season?

The hope is that he can come in and contribute to a team which is already flying, if he doesn't do as well as we hope we have still been going well without him in the team anyway.

There are no maybes. I would bet my balls on him being the real deal. And I think the real deal doesn't even come close to capturing quite how magnificent he is going to be. Kent has come to us hailed as one of Liverpool's finest prospects - he is going to feel stupid when Madderz starts training alongside him. If Maddz hadn't been injured we would 1 million percent be top of this league. You can't lose if you don't give the ball away....

It's going to be a cake walk when he gets back.

So yeah let's all keep our feet on the ground, he's still young.....

The answer is quite simple, if we lose Armstrong in January who else is going to score, If Maddison is fit when Armstrong leaves at least we have a chance

As CCFC say's, we're doing fine in the league and have done without him so far.

I'm sure we'll find out if he turns out to be the 'real deal' in time. Lets just let the lad get fit and healthy and have a gradual return to the 1st team, rather than heap pressure on him with tags of 'saviour'.

He will be coming back from a long injury so will have to get his match fitness first at a time when most players are at their fittest. My biggest worry is that we don't have idiotic fans having a go at him during games when he first comes back. And I can also see a few writing him off if he doesn't take off from where he left. We need to be realistic about his return.

Maddison hasn't had a bad game for us, I don't see the issue with bigging him up.

Yes I did disagree

You was going on about him being the real deal or not and also if he would be able to carry the team. I mentioned about him coming back from injury but not being match fit. In the first three games he played well. He gave us lots more attacking options. He brought other players into the mix. Him and Armstrong would frighten most clubs in our division.

We don't need him to be better than he was in the games he has played in this season. We just need more of the same. He is the real deal as long as you are not expecting too much from him.

When he comes back lets hope his confidence is the same or even better than before then we have to protect him from the vultures aka agents to at least reap some of the rewards we have sown his way. The disappointing thing for me is Lameiras, when I first saw him at Nun Town he was exciting gritty and could turn a player ...whats happened to him? maybe he misses Maddison who was/is on his same wavelength if so then when Madders comes back hopefully we get 2 players back for the price of one

I agree with that apart from the tongue in cheek 'cake walk' comment. If he's not the real deal I'll eat Paddy Ashdown's hat. We're only going to get till Summer with him, let's enjoy the moment and look forward to telling surprised friends in the future 'you know, he used to play for Cov'.

Maddison is the real deal.

Unfortunately I think he will join a premier league in the summer, so I'm gutted we've missed out on watching him for 3 or 4 months.

Hopefully he'll get us promoted, and then his new club will send him back on loan to us for next season.

If he was playing for Liverpool or Newcastle like RK/AA he'd be in the England youth teams.

He'd have probably made the breakthrough this season... would likely have got us in position to call off our games too... bloody injuries!

Maybe TM has what It takes to hang on to him.
If not hopefully the new guru at the top will maximise what we get for him,
Something In the Andre Gray region or better.

If we get promoted there is no reason other than money for Maddison to leave. He won't be ready for the Prem. So if he wants to play it would be in the Championship. It would either be for a bigger wage for Maddison or us cashing in.

... and if we get promoted we can offer him much improved terms as well... so it is win-win.

How do you know he is going to leave us? We don't even know how he is going to recover from his injury. We don't know if we will get promoted or not. And how much is TM in charge of all transfers in and out?

If TM is in charge of the transfers would SISU want to rock the boat and go against any agreement?

Would Maddison want to leave if we got promotion? He is playing for his home town witha good manager. He is still young.
