Always a crucial period of the season, mid winter injuries and transfers taking place disrupting sides.
I think on paper all top 6 should record a win tomorrow. You know that is not going to happen so where will the surprises come?

Will we slip up again? Will Burton have a shock defeat at home?

I think there will be a bit more pressure on teams after tomorrows results and the new table is revealed.

For us it's simply vital we win to either maintain parity or even gain ground. There may be another 18 games or so but I don't want to be 4th or 5th 8 or 12 points behind the leaders when there is just a dozen games to go. We need to put a few wins together again. If we are to go up we should be winning at Southend.

...I believe Mowbray is not a tinkler but a master technical thinker ..... we will see and awe in wonder after tomorrows game pusb

Agreed, there are still one and a half hours left in this day to consume several more pints of Sam Adams.

i do agree that we probably need to win tomorrow, but I witnessed a very determined Southend earning their pong by right at the Ricoh, so it certainly is not a formality.

With our squad The next 8 games are all winnable, very winnable, probably with Southend on paper the most difficult. We won't win them all but if we have automatic ambitions should perhaps must win 6.
Southend have struggled lately and taken some good hidings, so you are correct today is a bit of a crucial day in our quest for the top two. But let's look again at the end of February.

Hmm, TM may be a master technical thinker, but the second the goal went in last week we lost the game.

Was very, very worrying last week that as soon as Burton scored the first goal we became very clueless and inept.

Was waiting a fight back and it simply never came.

To be a master technical thinker you need to be a manager who can change a game with his tactics and substitutions.

Don't think we have seen too much of that from Mowbray this season.

Think he is really good at setting teams up to win the game, but not quite so hot at changing things when they go wrong.

Think it is vital today we score the first goal and don't get me wrong, I still think TM is the best manager we have had in many a year.

Yes we have played well in halves this season most notably the first v gillingham and second v Peterborough. It would have been interesting if last weekend burton had scored just before half time. Would the second half then have been wave after wave of attacks etc or would we have been as ineffectual as we were? TM is a very good manager but we don't seem to have a real leader on the pitch who can gee up Murphy and the other youngsters when the game is slipping away

Absolutely critical if we are serious title contenders or just play off hopefuls. I cannot see the others dropping points today so it's vital we keep the pace up and take 3 points today

After 1 point in 2 games today is a must win game. If we have any ambition for autos we will have to do what have to failed to do so far and go on a decent run of 6-7 wins on the bounce.

Today is winnable, but given the form and the general lack of goals (Crewe aside) it's not a given.

Love TM but does he have too many players to pick from now? He needs to pick his best team and only worry about tiredness and/or injuries if they happen. At the start of the season, we had a very small squad and the team picked itself. Now we have 2/3 changes every game a la Pressley. Please no more tinker man and we will be fine. #pusb

Yep, I second this, it's time for the strongest 11 to be picked to win matches. Rotation is only ideal when you're a massive club with umpteen options and squad depth; I see his mentality, however far be it for me to question TM, but he needs to establish a stable starting line-up. Bar injuries, of course.

Well i was sort of proven right today but we ended on the wrong end of it. had we won we would have that parity or thereabouts because those top sides were not all going to win and so it proved. While Burton lost and Wigan drew others won and we lost.
The only positive was the sides that lost and others like Wigan only drawing.
It's a missed opportunity yet again and I hope it's not repeated again this season if we are to get auto's.

As said above February looks decidedly easier on paper and should help propel us back in the hunt. I really hope so. BUT the side he picked today is a far cry from the exciting team we had a month ago? Fleck, Madders, Murphy definitely missed. The defense has lost it's shape. Too many changes for me and when we play with a target man we look incapable and a different team from the exciting one.
I'm sure TM has some ideas because so far Biggi has disappointed and Joe Cole has yet to influence proceedings with his quality. Vincelot Lameries have gone off the boil a bit but wonder if the new faces can cause that? resentment at not being picked suddenly turns into loss of appetite they showed previously?
Well here's to February. Time for fewer congratulations all round now and more concentration on what we were doing before that put us in this position in the first place.

Yes of course. That's a given but when he was missing before Murphy hit a hat-trick. It's the pace and fervour of the side we have had all season Otis that seems to have changed too much and we have become a different side. we need to get back to what put us here and stop showing respect for the opposition so much by changing our set up. Even if they work us out most teams can't live with that pace and straight at them approach we had for so long.
