There we all was yesterday applauding Steven Pressley and the club for bringing in 3 very decent signings albeit on loan to help boost our squad, excited by the prospect of Dagnall, Seaborne and Maguire enhance our squad and what options they'd give us and also savouring what will be a great day tomorrow when we take the largest away following in the league for some considerable amount of time, in a game which was exciting last season and has the potential to be just as exciting tomorrow.
24 Hours on though and we are all now engulfed in Sisu and the Council's war over the Ricoh and Sisu being granted a Judical Review, now we are back to fans arguing whether it's right or wrong, some fans saying they won't follow the team where they play due to the outcome in the courts and worse of all fans being even more detatched from the club that for generations was apart of local society and apart of all our lives daily.
Modern Football is a disease fueled by Money and Success, I want to enjoy the days where I sit with my group of 15 or so friends at the Ricoh (Block 14, Singers Corner) and enjoy watching a Sky Blue team play for the badge, the club, the fans and the City as a whole.
Of course I look forward to tomorrow as with any other game that I attend, but every time this extended, painful and glorified soap opera between Sisu and the Council, with other figures and groups such as Bob Ainsworth, Nikki Sinclaire, ACL, PWKH, goes on it's a knock for every single fan who holds Coventry City Football Club dear.
I hope we can go back to the days of cheering on our heroes, singing proudly and having minor pieces of success in our own City, in the stadium that was built for us.
Frankly at this moment time, it's testing but like the Phoenix on the badge we must all stick together (Sing together if you like), and this club will rise again with it's loyal fan base.
For me it's always been about heading up to the pub with my dad and mates, few beers, bit of banter then on to the ground, be that home or away.
followed by storming out in a mood with 20 minutes to go and heading to the Wheatsheaf.
That's gone at the moment. So in all honesty it's total shite. The politics of it all is boring.
And my only dealing with fellow fans at the moment is all of you ballbags. (wink)
Let's hope the three loan players can restore a little light in our lives. At kick off time on Saturday I am sure we will push JRs SISU ACL CCC out of our minds and be focused on the our team once again.
It's still heartbreaking for me.. I'm only 24 but have watched us religious from a jsb at 5 years old at HR to last season. I pass the Ricoh everyday and it still breaks my heart knowing that it could be years or never that we get too see our boys play at home again.. Thus needs to be sorted and quickly... I don't care how or who's to blame I'm just tired of it and want us HOME
The rise of CCFC was almost entirely down to the genius, tenacity, vision & many talents of Jimmy Hill.....
....The fall of CCFC is down to a succession of utter utter bullshitting cunts being involved in our club for the last 25 years....
As for the rise & fall of the game in general......the maximum wage was abolished in 1961....Match of the Day & the Big Match etc. have been showing lives games & highlights on TV since the 1960's....nowt wrong with football up until the early 1990's.....
....The demise of football from a game for the people into the shit-fest it is now can be pin-pointed to 2 key acts of vandalism....
1. The Thatcher Governments deliberate misinterpretation of the Taylor Report. (A classic case of Shock Doctrine in action)
2. The formation of the Premier League where we, and 19 other selfish clubs, pulled the ladder up & fucked the rest of football.
Like hill83 I love my football, the drinking, the banter, the whole day out home and away, the friendship etc.
But while this crap has been going on I'm missing it most Saturday's now,as football and following the City has been my life for fifty years.Looking forward to MKDons tomorrow of course meeting fellow fans I hardly see now, having a drink and just talking football.Get back home so us fans can enjoy the crack again !
yep I have always enjoyed goign for a beer with the lads, had some great times away from home and so many stories (sadly long gone but not forgotten). Home games were abit more 'samey' but you always remember those games where we played out of their skin and got a great result against a top team btu then lose to shite the following week.
I am talking as if the club is dead but honestly feeling that way at the moment!!!
What goes around, comes around i guess!
Jimmy Hill quit skyblues as they struggled in their first season in the top league.....
Was Jimmy another Big Ron?
Flash?
Sorry Sonofsnoz but to me Jimmy Hill is a legend and not flash like Atkinson,Jimmy had ideas way ahead of his time.
I was a kid when he took over but as they say the rest is history.Whatever he did I believe he did with good intentions as he was a football man through and through. So to me Jimmy Hill is Coventry City and I owe him a lot.
