doesnt hold value at Coventry city , when you have to rebuild a side from virtually nothing every single season are people really surprised we are performing noticeably worse than what our budget say we should be ?
I see some city fans mostly on here bang on about the budget using it as an argument (mostly against tony Mowbray) as to why we shouldn't be performing as bad as we do 99% of the time .
We recruit and release players on MASS every single season , therefore have zero stability throughout the squad , we do not retain out better players either .
Most clubs in this division usually retain a certain amount of first team players and build around them with their remaining budget with less players to replace hence the risk is far lower .
Our budget is cut every year so the players we recruit and the amount we add to the first team will always mean the risk of having a few bad apples is significantly higher...why can't fans see this ????
It's easier to replace 3-4 players than it is to replace 10- 18 like we appear to lose every year , some teams may lose a lot of players every few years , but we do it EVERY YEAR .
The model this club uses might work to make the club break even , but the model it uses in the footballing world is absolutely not working whatsoever , and nothing will change until we sign better players on longer contracts and try and retain them over a period of 2-3 years .
If nothing changes our experience in league 2 will be just as painful as it has been in league 1
