Thompson, another one who said he should not have moved to Coventry. So many players said that, you wonder what the atmosphere was like at the club. The American guy who wrote the book, Saying Up said the year we were relegated on national Radio, that he thought we would go down, as Strachan was so uptight. I saw Ian Crook playing in a close season charity cricket game for NCFC. Whenever there was a break in play, he rushed over to the boundary where a friend supplied him with a regular stream of cigarettes. I was amazed that a pro sportsman could have such a heavy smoking habit.I vaguely remember this, especially Ian Crook, who I think turned us down?

I'm not so sure. He was at the end of his career and not the player he was. We had Dublin and Ndlovu upfront at the time with Huckerby to follow so doubt he would have been better than them.Steve Bull, would have been a sensational signing imo, he pulled out at the last second after the Wolverhampton hillbillies were prowling the streets with pitch forks.
