The Pressley Myth (1 Viewer)

People are forgetting it's SISU / Waggott who have done the damage here, and Pressley is being fed shit for dinner and having to put up with it.

Now everyone is calling for Pressleys head and forgetting the real reason while we are in this mess - nothing to do with the fact for the past 7 years every season we have asset stripped is it ? and who did the asset stripping in the summer letting 60 goals walk away and try make out they was replacing them with a large budget in the league.

Pressley had us playing some the most exciting football in years last season, what happened? we asset stripped, who did that ? Sisu / Waggott.

Any replacement would have a short term bounce but it would be the same dodgy wine in a different bottle ... It might appear better for a while until that aftertaste hits.

He seems to be in a rut and lost his way now. It has also been noticeable that there has been a long standing concerted effort to twist his after match comments. Just as the propoganda from some fans have it he has lost the dressing room completely......yet no such evidence has come from within the dressing room.

we are in a sorry state, I am not suggesting Pressley is the man to lead us from the wilderness and may not be the solution, but he is not the cause of the problem.

I dont think there needs to be any effort to twist his after match comments? People watch the game, they listen to him, they simply don't add up from what they just watched.

Steven Pressley would have far more support right now if he simply kept his mouth shut after matches.

And I'd take that all day. It might end up being the same old shit wine but at least it could mean we stay up.

I Think comments around the Worcester game, Reda Johnson, incidents in the dressing room and other observations have been twisted....not honest enough, too honest about the situation...their are loads of examples.

But it is apparent he has ploughed himself to a standstill. Some of that is down to him, but a lot of it is ineffective play on the pitch. No manager has ever had complete control over my performances or the teams I have played for. Too many of you are looking for an easy solution. This isn't about poor team performances, it is about the whole structure of the club failing! FFS wake up and tackle the root of the problem rather than the leaves on the invasive weed.

I would support Pressley's decision for him to fuck off!

It's very true, many of the problems rattle through the rafters of this club and eventually will have an effect on the pitch regardless of managers credentials. BUT that apart he has had opportunity to make good with some decent results and failed time and again against opposition that even with a weaker squad we have (if that's true) should not happen.
We see before us decision making that has become puzzling and after match comments that are slightly bizarre at times.
Much like Lambert at Villa he has had a chance to do better and though recent results suggest improvement he has a long way to go to prove many doubters wrong yet. I wonder if he will get that opportunity if he fails to win one or two games quickly?

The second team is what he changed it to within 12 months - praised up and down the country for the exciting football and goals - (then it all went wrong) - the elvis team shows only 5 players out of 16 remaining from that first game

The team & subs he started 9th march
Sky Blues : Murphy; Christie, Martin, Edjenguele, Dickinson; Baker , Bailey, Jennings, McSheffrey ; Moussa; L Clarke.
Subs not used: Dunn, Thomas, Bell, McDonald, Stewart.

However, of that team, Clarke, Adams and Wilson were already at the club. Clarke and Adams must have been injured and Pressley got lucky that Wilson matured over that Summer. All he added was Fleck and Webster - and people may argue that Webster wasn't an improvement. Also, surely it wasn't Iyseden Christie? He left years ago. Must have been Cyrus who was in both teams.

You're right - he was. Wrongly assumed that as he was Scottish SP had signed him. Dispel the myth? I think the OP has proven it's true.

Yep only player he signed from the second team was Webster and he's clearly been a great success.

The key fact here is that Carl Baker; Frank Moussa; Leon Clarke; Callum Wilson have all gone and they were all the top goalscorers. You cannot lose that many goals and not expect a devastating effect.

I expect a cycle now. In 12 months or so I hope we'll have seen Thomas and Madison lifting us up League 2. SISU will insist they are sold and we'll start the inevitable descent down that league.

Funny how Villa did the same and now the manager has paid with his job as they struggled, or did he become a shit manager overnight?

I am sure many would have liked to have seen lambert here as manager.

Last game comments should have been.

We started ok and made a good chance for samuel then gave a silly free kick away for their goal which was a bit soft.

We then played with little pace or intensity and if I'd been a supporter I would have probably booed them off too.

We discussed stating patient and moving the ball quicker but we weren't able to get forward with any pace or intent even after the double change and so I took a JOB off for a Jackson and went 3 up front

I recognise he was the only midfielder showing any passion but none of the 4 in midfield were playing too well so there was no particular reason for the person I changed. In hindsight I should have probably changed things earlier as we did make chances with 3 up front and Scunthorpe weren't troubling us at all going forward

we got lucky at the end and a draw at home to Scunthorpe is pretty embarrassing for a club like ours but we are where we are.

If anyone thinks we aren't in a desperate scrap to stay in this division they are very mistaken

We need every supporter to come and support us home and away as they make a genuine difference when they get behind us.

I am at a loss to explain the lack of intensity in our play I can only put it down to nerves and lack of confidence. None of which can be coached or trained during the week and a last minute equaliser feels good and I hope the players can take that into the next game

Stick with us it's been a really difficult seasin. We have lost some very good players and the youngsters and loan players are working hard to change things

The flip is that SP said at the fans forum at the start of the season that the players who left and came in had all been his decision.

There were posters on here commenting about the number of goals being taken out of the team and that the replacements coming in were unproven with poor track records and they got shouted down. Time and time again McGoaldrick and Clarke were cited as players who came here with a poor track record.

SP said this was a promotion season yet we're battling relegation. This squad is not a squad that should be in the position we are in. Many opposition managers have made comments alluding to that as well as ex-pro's on CWR. Also players leave and immediately have an upturn in form. To me that all points to SP.
