I think it is fair to say that we are firmly in contention for a play-off spot, I didn’t believe it a few games ago but here we are. I say that with trepidation though because as we all know being a Coventry City fan is anything but easy.

The league this season is really condensed with the chances of catching Sunderland in 4th somewhere between slim and requiring a miracle. That leaves us realistically going for 5th or 6th place. Us and probably 10 others including the teams currently occupying those play-off spots so we’re looking at 2 teams out of 11. Now when I look at our fixtures I see the next four definitely have some some winnable games in there but then it gets a bit more difficult for the next three.

It got me to thinking what each teams run in was like compared to ours, so here we go:

Blackburn 51 pts / 33 games:
Swansea (A), Norwich(H), Derby (A), Stoke (A), Cardiff (H), Portsmouth (A), Middlesborough (H), Sheff Wed (H), Luton (A), Millwall (H), Sunderland (A), Watford (H), Sheff Utd (A).

West Brom 48 pts / 33 games:
Oxford (H), Leeds (A), QPR (H), Burnley (A), Hull (H), Norwich (A), Sunderland (H), Bristol City (A), Watford (H), Coventry City (A), Derby (H), Cardiff (A), Luton (H).

Coventry City 47 pts / 33 games:
Preston (H), Oxford (A), Stoke (H), Derby (A), Sunderland (H), Sheff Utd (A), Burnley (H), Portsmouth (H), Hull (A), West Brom (H), Plymouth (A), Luton (A), Middlesbrough (H).

Bristol City 46 pts / 33 games:
Middlesbrough (H), Millwall (A), Hull (H), Sheff Utd (A), Norwich (H), Burnley (A), Watford (H), West Brom (H), QPR (A), Sunderland (H), Luton (A), Leeds (A), Preston (H).

Sheff Wed 45 pts / 33 games:
Burnley (A), Sunderland (H), Plymouth (A), Norwich (A), Sheff Utd (H), Cardiff (A), Hull (H), Blackburn (A), Oxford (H), Stoke (A), Middlesbrough (H), Portsmouth (H), Watford (A).

Watford 45 pts / 33 games:
Luton (H), Stoke (A), Millwall (H), Swansea (H), Oxford (A), Plymouth (H), Bristol City (A), Hull (H), West Brom (A), Burnley (H), Portsmouth (A), Blackburn (A), Sheff Wed (H).

Middlesbrough 44 pts / 32 games:
Bristol City (A), Stoke (A), Derby (H), Swansea (A), QPR (H), Luton (A), Oxford (H), Blackburn (A), Leeds (H), Millwall (A), Plymouth (H), Sheff Wed (A), Norwich (H), Coventry City (A).

Norwich 44 pts / 33 games:
Stoke (H), Blackburn (A), Oxford (H), Sheff Wed (H), Bristol City (A), West Brom (A), Plymouth (A), Sunderland (H), Burnley (A), Portsmouth (H), Millwall (A), Middlesbrough (A), Cardiff (H).

QPR 44 pts / 33 games:
Portsmouth (A), Sheff Utd (H), West Brom (A), Middlesbrough (A), Leeds (H), Stoke (A), Cardiff (H), Oxford (A), Bristol City (H), Preston (A), Swansea (H), Burnley (H), Sunderland (A).

Millwall 41 pts / 32 games:

Six away, seven at home. Need to win as many as we can at home.

Home form will be massive, some great opportunities to take some massive 6 pointers. Even with Burnley at home, it could a massive psychological boost to beat them ahead of a potential 6th place finish.

Our away games are all winnable games with the exception of Sheff U. Oxford will be tough as well but it’s a game we shouldn’t be losing.

Nah we can beat Sheff Utd. They’re rubbish considering their league position.

90% of their wins are shithouse wins but that's just Wilder, i doubt they'll moan if it gets them up but they will get absolutely clubbed again next season if they do. Somehow they still manage to be more entertaining that Burnley though
Personally think Sunderland are probably the better of the 3, or at least the more entertaining, yet they will probably finish in 4th.

Run ins never as predictable as you think (see Brum away last year).
Teams want mid table, safe and on the beach fixtures. Worst teams to play are those who are fighting for top 2, top 6 and against relegation. New manager bounce may be important too.
Injuries, suspensions and form play a part.
As ever, a totally unpredictable Championship.

There are 11 teams on that list who all have a chance of playoffs. Personally I think Preston and Millwall are too far behind, (even though they have a game in hand) particularly so if they draw tomorrow.
Lets see how many of each of those play other teams on the list (including the top 4 who are not on the list).
Blackburn - 7
West Brom - 8
Coventry - 6
Bristol - 11
Sheff W - 7
Watford - 6
Middlesboro - 8
Norwich - 8
QPR - 8
Millwall - 10
Preston - 7
Yes things will change week by week as teams drop out of the equation, but it gives an idea on run-in difficulty.
Can't see how Middlesboro are top of the betting considering their current form and run-in.
5 defeats in the last 6

Just done a prediction table, had us losing to Sheff Utd and Burnley, 4 draws and 7 wins. Seems realistic, gives us 72 points which I think will be enough.

I agree to a point however at home they are very hard to beat
If Hull can do it, we should be able to. If Hamer plays, just get Bidwell to take him out of the game early.
