Was just wondering what everyone's opinions were for the following:
1 - Favourite City game
2 - Goal of the season
3 - Player of the season
4 - Young player of the season
5 - Best opposing team performance at The Ricoh
6 - Best opposing player performance at The Ricoh
For the record, mine are as follows:
1 - Leeds for atmosphere/Reading for performance and enjoyability
2 - Gary McSheffrey v Burnley
3 - Martin Cranie
4 - Lukas Jutkiewicz
5 - Bristol City
6 - Max Gradel (Leeds)
1 - Favourite City game
> Had a great time at Reading last week, that's up there. Watford was great too, first time seeing Thorn's football first hand at home. Most the games under Aidy weren't that enjoyable comparatively, either cos we were losing (mostly because of that), or because of shit football. Had a great day out away at Preston too (even in spite of the shit result), one of 4 away days i did this year, will definitely have to do more next year. Wish i'd been at Pompey away, sounded great on the radio!
2 - Goal of the season
> McSheffrey v Burnley
3 - Player of the season
> Marlon King
4 - Young player of the season
> Cameron easily had it in the bag until recently, but Clarke's done really well the last few games. Will go Cameron, just, on overall contribution over the season. Unless we're classing Jutkiewicz in this category, in which case definitely him.
5 - Best opposing team to visit The Ricoh
> I didn't actually think Bristol City were that good, we were just rotten that day. I'd probably be inclined to say QPR, even though we didn't neccesarily do too badly against them. Lots of class in that team.
6 - Best opposing player performance at The Ricoh
> I'm normally too drunk to notice what individual players are causing us problems, lol. Quite a few keepers have come and had outstanding games though. Murphy and Federici both spring to mind because of how recent they were, but there were definitely others earlier. And when we had O'Halloran playing, pretty much anyone on the right wing looked like a superstar, ha.
1 - Favourite City game - Pompey or Reading when there was a buzz on a warm day and I went in shorts or Boro when I forgot for once we were Coventry City and started to get caught on the crest that we might actually maintain a challenge. I should have known better after so many false dawns but it was hard to contain the excitement after so little for so long.
2 - Goal of the season - King v Scunny. Not just the finish but after a few minutes of lovely to watch football and a goal made with quick passing and a neat finish
3 - Player of the season - Cranie or Keogh for consistency. King for the latter half and Turner for the first with Macca and Westy some bits in between
4 - Young player of the season - Juke - watch him go next season
5 - Best opposing team performance at The Ricoh - Cardiff. Every year I think they out play us and look full of quality yet always seem to choke
6 - Best opposing player performance at The Ricoh - I'm sure there will have been many but my bias or the fact I'm senile means none stick out for me.
Pretty much the same as Coventry La La La, apart form goal of the season.
1 - Coventry v Reading (performance & atmosphere to add to the decent flowing football)
2 - Carl Baker V Palace (met that ball beatifully)
3 - Richard Keogh - Had his bad moments, but a very positive first season for the club (was he forever present apart from Morecombe??)
4 - Nathan Cameron (Juke came close, but as Cameron has come straight from the academy and settled in so well, he got my vote).
5 - QPR - Could see why they have walked away with the league for the majority of the season!
6 - Adel Taarabt (QPR) - What a player. Might be a cocky little s**t at times, but amazing!! Check out the league stats - scored 19, top player at goals on and off target. Def someone you want in your team and not against you!
best game scunthorpe away, 2-0 win and i think we went 5th fantastic atmosphere and just all round funny.
best goal baker v palace
Player of season, easy marlon king
young player, clarke
best team at ricoh, i dont think there has been many, qpr we dominated first half, cardiff good but we were all over them, bristol they played against a 10 man team witha 3rd choice gk in goal
best player federici
