Obviously their tailors got the inside leg measurement wrong. That's no coincidence, this is a delegation from Stalingrad visiting the Precinct in 1955:

Well that's your experience. We have had visitors over from Canada, Russia and the States and they have loved it here.
Why did you go to the Tudor Rose? You go to the wrong places you will meet the wrong people.
Simple really.

Have you been to 'Stalingrad?'The irony is coventry hasn't changed enough. It's still looks like a uk version of Stalingrad.
The Alhambra and the Smithfield Hotel were two of my favourite places. Used to go to the Cheylesmore a lot too. All now gone.Mr G's, The Pink Parrott, The Alhambra, and Fatty Arbuckles

The Smithfield Hotel was in Hales Street opposite where the Transport Museum is. It burned down in 2001 after an arson attack. Was the Smithfield the pub next to Shambles arcade, and had about 800 pool tables?
Loved that pub, the gaffer had a relaxed view on underage serving and you could get bottles of autumn gold for 80pThe Smithfield Hotel was in Hales Street opposite where the Transport Museum is. It burned down in 2001 after an arson attack.
I don't think I could get away with this nowadays:
Yes:There was a record shop by Woolworths that I used to visit before I discovered punk (and hence only went to Virgin). Was it called Jill Hanson or is my memory poor?
There was also a record shop in the lower precinct on the lower level on the same side as Gibberds clothing store, was it called Fennels? I can't quite remember. There was a record shop by Woolworths that I used to visit before I discovered punk (and hence only went to Virgin). Was it called Jill Hanson or is my memory poor?

loved the alhambra no bother to take a girl there. also when i'm in cov i like the tudor rose lolAnyone remember the Alhambra? It was at the bottom of the street behind where the Silver Sword is/was (if my memory is not playing tricks). It was a nice comfy place to go for a drink.
I also used to go to the Cheylesmore quite a bit. Another nice place, now demolished.
The Smithfield Hotel was another place I frequented, now gone as well.
when i was a kid going to Barnabys before christmas to try and wrangle some extra presents was always a treatNot wishing to be picky, but the chess board was outside Davies's sports shop. Also, the toy shop next door to the Locarno (now the library) was Barnabys.
Just sayin' like.
Deviant Dan strikes again!:joyful:Fingering birds behind fashion floor
Maria, I don't think that she had no kids, she didn't fancy men. The guy that you are referring to was Asian, Maria was Italian. George who worked in there for years cuts hair occasionally at Alan's on Holyhead RdRemember the women from the parsons nose with the mole on her face ? When I was younger I always thought it was gonna fall in me chips, she was lovely though , and think it was her son who used to write the chips super fast
