I think let him take team into league one give him 6 games in decide then as still early enough to to repalce him, all comes down to money and if he will be backed or not and who leaves theres plenty of ways this could go by start next season all we can do is guess.
am neither pro or against thorn, but,
had anyone been faced with his financial constraints, regardless of their seniority / ability,
how would they have done ?
just for one moment put yourself in his place ?????????
Boothroyd had no plan B which is why the season sank quickly at the half way stage. People seem to think he had a wealth of players at his disposal when it frankly wasn't the case.
Is this said in jest? AT lost King, Turner, Gunnar, Juke and Westwood amongst others. Yet you say AB didn't have a wealth of players. If this is so then what did AT have?
No it isn't Astute as the squad was still too small and the budget available was equally poor. King would not have signed were he not the manager and I concede he had a better squad-but not the Barca-esque squad some are implying.

So if AB's squad was too small then what does that make AT's squad? 9 out of the 1st team 11 went. AB was found out. Most of us hated the hoofroyd way of playing. I see no reason to prefer AB over AT
Actually whilst AT had it much worse than Aidy, he didn't have enough backing either. He was constantly promised loan signings that didn't materialise, and numerous targets who have since quadrupled in value were identified by AT, approved by Aidy, and blocked by Igwe. And the true hammer blow fell at Xmas, when Carsley, Aron, and Sammy had all been injured. With Doyle Aidy's first choice CM and holding the side together in the middle with his workrate and ball-winning, he was given away, to get him off the wage bill. I think I'm correct in saying he never won again at the club? Then the Connor Thomas affair-another CM out of the club, just as he was needed in the side.
Neither Doyle or Thomas were replaced; Carsley never played again. Sammy and Aron eventually returned to near-fitness, and were pitched straight into the side (although Aron had been played RM by Aidy up to then, and it was working, he was scoring goals, we were top half..). Sammy was useless in Aidy's formation and style of play, and both he and Aron were still gradually getting their fitness back in the first team-but the wins didn't come. Aidy got sacked, and Thorn-and his style of play-got the best out of Aron and Sammy at CM-and, incredible as it now seems, David Bell and McSheffrey, who both played their best football in the past 4 years in those months. Those players, plus Lukas and King, proved much more productive under Thorn. Hussey came in at LB and transformed our shape and balance, giving us a natural left-footer and width going forwards. Likewise Clarke came in at RB, added another dimension, and the ball-playing defensive partnership of Keogh and Cranie was born. That back 4 only returned to the pitch again a few weeks ago, and it was too late.
We were hence saved from relegation by Andy Thorn-his methods worked better with the players that were left than Aidy's did.
That doesn't mean Aidy wasn't short changed: he need Carsley, Doyle and Turner for his tactics to work. Without them and with the ball-playing footballers at the club disillusioned-and some, such as Baker, McIndoe and Hussey, seemingly ostracised from the side-he was never going to turn it around without being to be able to replace his key players. Maybe his own fault, as he honestly admits he "didn't do his homework on SISU".
It's all a bit academic anyway. I'm clearly wrong about him so really it's a bit unfair to treat such a budding talent poorly by tying him to such an unambitious club. I would be surprised if West Brom don't come looking for him - I mean they could be 10 points better off - they could be in the Europa League next season. If not at the very least a Championship Club must see his talents and swoop for him? How can we hold him back?
i dont see how it makes me an idiot. i have always stated thorn can not manage. the results speak for themselves. and i include the wins in that.
i simply made the point that thorn was the wrong choice at the wrong time. what we need now is an experienced manager with a pedigree of promotions. a older head to keep those kids heads on track and in line.
thorn will recieve an appology from me should he become successful by which i mean the club are at least top 6 first season. but im sure he will be gone after 15 games. because of what sepalla said re the money situation. i cant see them investing. at all.
