COVENTRY City manager Andy Thorn reported a "lively atmosphere" as his squad began training for the new season.
Thorn and his management team put the squad through their paces at the Ryton training ground before they head out for a pre-season week in Europe.
He said:
"We had a very good day. Everybody was glad to be back and there was a lively atmosphere.
"We put the players through some tests and they had the ball at their feet. We have a complete programme worked out and we got the footballs out in the very first session. We are planning ahead for a whole season not just for August 6.
"I outlined our expectations for the season and everybody was very bright and bubbly."
He's hardly going to say "well the players weren't happy to be back and pissed about most the day, I looked at what we've got and thought fuck me we're screwed. I wished I hadn't bothered"
