Both fair points, but if I may play devils avocado:

I actually agree there's little difference. The vast majority of out managers since relegation hover around 31-33% win ratio, three stand out at over 40% (Dowie, Black, Nilsson) but en then two of them didnt complete a season so the stats are skewed by the initial boost. Not entirely sure that helps then, I mean how long before you pull the trigger again? A year? Well shouldn't thorn be given a year with his own squad instead of the crap foisted on him last year? I honestly don't know.

Regarding the back room: I get the impression that it's quite democratic as the player interviews tend to mention Carsley and Shaw as much (if not more than) Thorn. I also highly doubt Thorn has the confidence of someone like Atkinson to shout down his assistants. But you're right, we're just playing guessing games.

If he has been sacked or is about to , then the results are one reason, but plummiting crowds are another reason for it. SISU know that crowds of less than ten thousand,(which will happen the longer the winless streak goes on) will bring much bigger financial pain onto the club, and they will have to dip into there pockets more often to make us survive, a thing they don't want to do as there aim is self financing of the club.

I believe he will go tonight or in the next few days, i presume they will them promote within or get someone on the cheap from the bottom division to manage.

It's a good question and one that is impossible to answer definitively. It is such a subjective thing. All you can really do is eyeball it, allow objective assessments to form, and then see whether the evidence mounts up in your favour. If you take Thorn as an example, many colour their assessment of him by the quality of players he has. But if we eyeball the weekly performances, we ought to be able to see that the team is not actually progressing. When you reach that plateau you need to give serious consideration to a change. Strachan hit such a plateau in our final Premiership year, but BR (mistakenly) did not pull the trigger.

Sure. There is no consistency in this area. We've seen assistants have successful managerial careers, unsuccessful ones, completely transform a team's performance compared to their old boss, etc. The only way to ever know for sure is to give them a crack at the job and see how they do.

A few hours later they let the manager know. Then tomorrow a statement to the press.

This is standard protocol across all football clubs.

I fully expect it to happen.

whilst I am encouraged by news that cov are looking into possiibility of sacking thorn I would still give him 10 league games personally.

we are unbeaton, if he can learn lessons from every game perhaps we can start gettin consinstrnt wins on the bounce, we could easily have 7-9 points right now after all,but least we havnt lost either

if we win 5 of next 7 these 3 draws look a lot more complimentary so lets give him 7 more games

but gut feeling is thorn may need to be pushed out the door

There's an old saying that "You reap what you sow"...& a lot of people think that consistency is what brings success in football.
If you put them together, CCFC have consistently changed their management every 18-24months & we have been reaping the consequences throughout the post cup era.
Should AT go - they'd better get a good'n in else L2 will beckon within 5yrs IMO.

As someone who played the game at a just above average standard,,then went on to make a living in countries like Australia,Cyprus etc and being a life long Sky Blue...Ive read all the threads about AT in or AT out and listened and when I can and when available watched my beloved Sky Blues play...but during the end of last season as a player I genuinely believed it was time for a new manager..even as a last throw of the dice..momentum creating a winning side or losing again which was no difference from the previous regime..as I see it nothing to lose.....Now 3 games into new season UNBEATEN I hasten to add in my opinion its now time to bring in a new manager,,didnt Norwich do that after losing their first game in Div 1 6-1..and looked what happened to them!!..pusb

Agree Bazza. If the club and fans want rid of Thorn then give them what they want, but for God's sake get an experienced man in and don't give it to Carsley or Shaw.

Exactly.

If we get rid of Thorn just to replace him with somebody else equally as inexperienced it is pointless. If SISU want to get out of the league they will have to invest a little into a manager.

I wonder how much somebody like Johnson would be on at Yeovil and what the average is for a League 1 manager?

But what or who do you consider inexperieneced...look at Chris Powell at Charlton!? Could Lee Carsley/ Richard Shaw turn into them....Charlton tried the experienced tried and trusted manager route look where it got them untill now!!

Loads of managers would come here. The out of work ones are always desperate to have another crack. I think getting a new manager would be easy, it's getting the right one that always seems difficult.

Yep, people would come here but we need somebody who is proven with limited resources and who knows this league inside out.
