first time we are seeing Thorn in public now maybe having a little pop at SISU.

“It’s just not acceptable but that’s where we are at the moment; we need to be better but we need some help.”

Thorn is just not the same man when he took charge.

Also first time we've seen him having a pop at the players, as they did everything he told them not to last night it would seem!

I lost count how many time he was raving from the dug out because we'd reverted to the long ball game again!! You could see the redness in his face from accross the pitch!!

Are players getting annoyed with the strict type / 1 dimensitonal style of football?? Bit poor that they are disobaying the manager in only match 2 of the season!

Rarely do players 'disobey' tactics. It's more likely the case that as a unit, they are not very good passers of the ball. They have had over a year of Boothroyds tactics drilled into them and its going to take a while for them to adjust in actual game situations. Another factor is the opposition. If they really work hard and hassle you, its hard to get into passing rhythm. Especially if your not the expert at it in the first place.

Don't quite agree with you for once, Edgy. We played passing football for the 6 or so games Thorn was in charge last season and didn't once resort to the long ball game and we have had plenty of pre-season matches where we didn't play the long ball and we didn't play the long ball against Leshtur.

So what's changed for them to revert back to type of AB's tenure?

Not sure but is some of it down to having a striker like King who could run the channels and hold the ball well and bring others into play so easily?

We had better quality/experience in and around the side during those 6 games. Also I'm sure desperation kicked in when 2-1 down, especially in the younger players who are then prone to go very direct. And the senior pros left at the club don't seem to be good leaders to these youngsters.

So the players didn't like long ball and now they don't like playing on the ground?

Think it's more of the case that the players know that they need some more talent and so does Andy, both feeling helpless and frustrated.

On another note, I dont think the young lads were helped by having an out of position and silent Martin Crainie for a captain. Sorry Thorn, but you messed up with that decision. He was woeful where he played, and was an absolute shite captain!

I'd have thought Keogh would have been the obvious choice for captain in Clingan's absence. It's a surprise to me that Crainie was considered - he's never been much of a leading figure, and you could see him looking towards Keogh during the Leicester game for instruction on keeping the line in shape, and where he was expected to be. Crainie's a good player, but he's not a leader.

Well this is what I said on another thread. A lot people were saying it doesn't matter how old players are and if they are good enough they should be in. This was my very point. How do these kids react when we go something like 2-1 down and could they respond? They just don't have the experience of a cup game on a Tuesday night against League 1 opposition and you're probably right, they then were just so eager to get back in the game they tried to get the ball forwards as quickly as possible.

To reiterate what I said, fine to play youngsters but you need plenty of more experienced heads around them and that is why we cannot afford to play the likes of 4 or 5 youngsters in the same team and it also proves that many of our older players lack the mental strength to step up to the plate and lead from the front too.

I doubt the likes of McSheffrey and Bell have that required mental strength.

According to CWR AT is saying hes going to find it hard to lift the players for the birmingham game. if there is any reason to be up for a game its because you against your local rivals!! . Not sounding very good at CCFC at the moment looks like off field problems are effecting the players and AT more and more.

AT Has probably had enough as hes been told we wont be signing anyone and at the end of the day if we keep losing he will be sacked. With king gone we are really struggling, pass it around all day but theres no penertration teams just arnt scared of us

senior players must stand up and be counted show their metal and support the youngsters if that happens we will be ok if not then lets start to worry about the consequences

We are missing leaders on the pitch - of the names suggested above would any of them really be first choice when compared to Captains we have had in the past. Clingan is the best of the current squad as Captain, I dont question his ability at all but do you really see a captain?

Captain aside, the leadership aspect is another reason why it would be the wrong decision to sell Turner - he is a presence in the team where as few others are. We miss that

With 7 players now injuried Thorn is in a very difficult position. The board need to either back him if he really was there first choice as manager!
