Ticket prices - a huge gamble by the financially prudent SISU (3 Viewers)

From a financial perspective the increase in ST prices should ordinarily increase gate receipts this season. If we are successful increased crowds at higher prices, if we are less so there will be smaller crowds but at higher ticket prices. I don't think that prices alone will reduce our support - in economic terms our demand is price inelastic up to a point.

However the price increases will reduce crowds if not revenue. At a time when we need to compete for the hearts and minds of the Coventry public against the WASPS PR machine I think this is a very dangerous move. SISU are going to run the club cash neutral having invested previously and failed miserably, they aren't prepared to invest in the team. During the 9 SISU years the crowds have halved, and we are now an established mid-table third division club.

Many on here are accepting this financial prudence as being justified based on our past PL experience.

This IMO is unacceptable. We are in this position mostly due to our owners, they have a responsibility to re-establish us as at the minimum a championship club. Putting together a budget that is less than in the top 6 is risking again another season like this ones. I fear SISU see a cash neutral season as a success even if it leads to mid-table mediocrity,

Less than 3 years ago SISU committed financial suicide by moving to Northants now they are being applauded by some for showing financial prudence, well not by me. Owning Coventry is a privilege, I know you won't go until the legal proceedings have been exhausted but please don't congratulate owners that have halved our support and then use this as the basis for running our club.

But my point is they are responsible for our demise, they were prepared to exile us to Northampton, financial suicide when it suited their (not CCFC's) aims but now there mantra is financial prudence which justifies lack of investment and ensures we are more likely than not to be in this division for the next few years to come.

WASPS are chasing every fan going and I believe they will be picking up some of these wavering former Cov fans and some of the corporate clients. We risk sub 10,000 crowds if we are mid-table again, need to be competing from the start of the season and nothing guarantees this but additional funding would help,

There is no god given right for someone to bung money at the club and incur losses. All rich owners ultimately tie the club in loans so it's more debt you want.

Fans should stop bleating and go and support the team. There is no excuse.

This debate will run 18 pages of he said, she said, comparing us with every club in the country, with certain names like Robinson, Richardson, Fisher, Joe Elliot and of course where's hoffman comment thrown in every now and then.. And with this will come to the end in multiple personal attacks on an individuals opinion involving the same people who wind each other up no matter what is written.

The club's owners are very similar to this board, same things said, same thing spoke about same people involved with a new one every now and then appearing all with the same ending. We are run by very poor owners that have took this club to its worst position in the clubs history off the field, they are not here to make it better they are here now to survive without it costing them anymore money. No ambition to move from the situation they are in, no desire to be honest about future plans and have divided the fans to the point of physical altercations. And any individual for one minute you thinks these are good people and good times at your club then god help the next 10 years because this steady decline is what you will have.

Even players i know say it, Fleck is the only one with balls to say it publically, the owners are not supportive of progression they will sack, managers, players, chairman, board members while shuffling those who follow them around the table. They don't care about prices or supporters it effects, they want your money out of loyalty towards the club without giving a product to watch. I don't see hope in this club i see a desperate fight to survive while they paint a picture of foundations and future and if this is not shared by others, then please tell me where we have improved under these owners, because everytime i ask the defenders misdirect about grammar or an insult.

Do you not think our circumstances are exceptional, accept the point about not having a god given right for wealthy backers but with WASPS sniffing around 15 seasons of misery, the post- Sixfields fall out an owner who seems to pride themselves with their cash neutral stance, we as fans deserve something more.

Stop bleating, Gren how do you not see it, 50% have already stopped Bleating and walked away, in another 5 years of this you and the wealstone warrior will be having some due to you objecting about his song about having no fans.. No sane person is happy paying more if we are truly being honest.

But let's see what sisu do. We gor vincelot for a fee last year. Maybe come June July we will have signed 2 or 3 players for a fee this time?

I don't think sisu want to fail on the pitch personally. They have made many errors but last 2 or 3 years I think they are trying to move fwd on the pitch. Let's wait and see what sort if squad we go into September with.

That's how I feel, I just felt the need to challenge the cash neutral mantra by SISU - by accepting this we are allowing them to abdicate their responsibility for creating this mid-table third division team. We deserve a better budget

Living in Coventry I am watching our fanbase stagnate over the years with negative policies / marketing by SISU whilst those rugger buggers are adopting a far more proactive approach to attract fans.

We've lost around 3 - 4,000 of our natural Highfield road fanbase which given relegation isn't they bad

Great post and despite one or two blinkered sisu lovers the majority of supporters agree that sisu have destroyed this club. Yes previous owners and the board have alot to answer for but Sisu took on this club knowing what the finances were like, what running a football club entails but have shown no ambition, no financial support or ambition and have treated us fans with utter contempt

why take on a football club if you arnt prepared to invest or try for success because sisu have done neither. The only reason they took over the club is because they wanted to get. Their hands on the ricoh and surrounding land. Now that. This has gone they are trying to get their money back through the courts and have no intention of spending any money onthe team as they have no intrest in the club or fans

Your second paragraph is not supported by any evidence. Thus invalidating your whole post. If only they had gone after the ground when they took over. Then again, the council at the time were scaring away other investors with their ridiculous demands so it would probably would've been a pointless exercise.

However, if one of the more senior players at the club says that the owners need to back the manager a bit more, but you keep banging that boring arse drum and droning on about the same old shit, I think I'll listen to the player. I'd say he knows a bit more than you, or do you think different?

Droning on about what? My only point is its pointless droning on about sisu needing to throw money at TM, because they arent going to do that.

The reason I posted what I did, is because we already have 2 threads on similar subjects. The OP wants cheap STs and Investment, its very likely we made a loss from reducing the STs last season, that impacts directly on Mowbrays budget. The STs are still one of the cheapest in the league.

We'd all love an owner who will gift the club money, but we don't have one, we have this bunch of c.... There have been plenty of teams that have challenged and been promoted in the 4 years we've been in this league that have a lot less resource than we do. If putting the tickets back up to pre sixfields prices means another £300-400k for TM to spend then its the right decision. This season has shown that if the football is good people will attend.

TM just needs to be more savvy with his scouting and signings next season and we should be challenging again. We weren't far away this season.
