Ticket Prices This Year: Fair or a Put Off? (2 Viewers)

Now that the match package prices have been released and Chris Anderson has opened some turnstiles for paying on the gate, we have a good idea of the complete overall cost setup for this year, which also includes season tickets.

Having seen conflicting opinions around, out of curiosity: Do you think these prices are fair*, or will they put you off attending matches this season?

*Also includes you if you don't agree with the price but love the club enough/have a massive wallet anyway.

Probably an idea to put in the pricing of the other League 1 clubs to give a bit of context of what we pay.

People do seem to act like we are charging triple every other club.

Yeah, I see what you mean. To be honest, I wanted to give as little influence as possible. As I've stated before, the prices may be competitive, but it doesn't mean they are necessarily affordable to everyone. If you add in last seasons bargains then it can tip people as well. Just interested to see what this seasons particular pricing fits in with everyone.

If Joe blogs gets them cheaper than us season ticket holders they can fook right off. We shell out regardless of who we sign not pick and chose.
I think last season was too cheap although great crowds but we were losing money.

I paid £20 for my Swindon ticket including postage, and saw that the charge on the gate was £25.....on Saturday, I paid £22 on the gate, and went straight in, no waiting (arrived at about 2.45pm)

We haven't won anything in years, and your not guaranteed entertainment.

But we aren't paying for entertainment or fair, we are paying for hope, and that's what we will continue to do. Its why prem fans pay £60+ to watch their team play at arsenal and its why I would happily forego any holiday of a lifetime to watch my club in the final of the Johnsons Paint Trophy (if only), as I know very few moments in my life would be like that moment when we lifted a trophy.

We might have cheaper, the same or more expensive prices than others in League One, but have had less recent "success", but it doesn't matter. The majority of football fans are hooked and its not a logical purchase. Its like your council tax. You want to pay less, but ultimately, you a powerless and you will pay it, because not paying it is not an option

Someone made a massive cock up last season by lowering the prices.
If they had been set like this season I doubt there would have been same pressure to sell Maddision.
That created an expectation of lower prices this season, so it is understandable some fans will be upset when the price is raised.

How about looking at the pricing compared to real life, value and worth. £25 to rock up to the block we paid a maximum of £20 to sit in last year. My fucking income hasn't risen 20% over the summer !

Its all about value for money.
Last night was not even worth £2 to be honest.
Can see crowds plummeting if things don't get better regardless of price.

It's a bit much tbh - I'd be happy with paying £18-£21 (including booking fees) but more than that seems a bit silly at this level.

Never mind the League average or last years prices etc. You can only charge what fans are prepared to pay to watch football at this level and with the product on offer. I get the feeling that at higher prices, if things are not going well you will get a much more negative and toxic atmosphere as folk demand value. It's much easier to swallow the cost of a £15 ticket versus £25 plus all the ancillary expenses of attending for most.

You compare it to value, what else can you do for £25 each ?! ST holders are the bread and butter, they are the folk who have committed themselves to the majority of matches, who have installed it into their social routine and have taken the appropriate discount for the loyalty. However those floating supporters who for many reasons want to go when they can still have to be courted and persuaded that this is where they should spend their disposable. As I wrote a few days ago, the ST price in Block 37 where I sat last year many times is £14 per game but £25 now for casual fans. Is that difference acceptable ?
£25 gets 2 people a good night at the cinema, a round of golf, a good few beers in the pub and a takeaway on the way home, a ticket at the theatre etc etc

Shock horror, football fans wanting cheaper tickets!

I do believe in general ticket prices are an issue but that we do compare very well to other clubs in our league, that includes clubs who are historically "smaller" than us. Take Walsall for example, their cheapest advance single ticket is £18 adult, £14 junior. Cheapest matchday ticket is £21 junior is £17. One good idea they seem to have is a family ticket (1 Adult + 1 junior) at £23.50 bought in advance, bu it goes to show that we are comparable, and I dare say all clubs look to what others are charging to ensure that...

We are only comparable if you want to cram in the two family blocks and many blokes don't want to do that any more, especially if your kids have grown up and you are just out with the lads. Some peoples kids can't sit still, forever up and down the row for the toilets or food.
Football in general is the problem here though, it's too expensive everywhere and fans are treated differently to how you are on the continent.

Yes very much so.
The cost of everything, including players and wages, is getting inflated to an extreme level. I would guess that is partly due to the sponsorship deals which the EPL etc obtain meaning that they have the cash to spend. Problem is that they don't give anything back to the fans even though they can easily afford to drop prices in comparison to what Bayern charge for example.
Then other clubs who can't afford to drop prices, but are still working in the inflated market end up in this position. Football has a problem, and the fans are paying for it.

You are correct Nick it's a football issue not just ours. I always maintain gates are linked to relative success and not price, although there are clubs like Norwich and Derby who have always had a high season ticket sales. We kicked off last season flying and superb attacking football and increased our gate by over 20%. While I don't think £25 is too expensive, more worryingly we have only had about 9000 Cov fans for each of the opening two games in the sun.
