While all current general sale tickets for clash with Gillingham at Ricoh Arena are sold out more could become available on fixture date
Coventry City Football Club have sold out of the tickets released for general sale for Friday's match with Gillingham at the Ricoh Arena.

Initially, around 15,000 tickets were released for general sale and they have been snapped up after phenomenal interest.

A further 2,200 Supporters have also purchased or transferred across their Season Tickets for the club's return to the Ricoh Arena.

The club would urge any current Season Ticket holders who purchased before the club's return to the Ricoh to make sure they have transferred it across to their seat at the Ricoh.

There are still around 4,000 Season Ticket holders from the 2012/13 season who are yet to renew or buy Gillingham tickets. Those seats will be released for sale on the day of the Gillingham game but the club would ask any supporters who held 12/13 Season Tickets to email [email protected] to let the club know if they intend to attend the Gillingham game and, if not, allow them to be released for other supporters.

The club shop will be open between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Sunday. Between 10.30am and 12.30pm, fans will be able to purchase Season Tickets or Gillingham tickets if they were 12/13 Season Ticket holders. Fans who bought Season Tickets for Sixfields will be able to transfer them over to the Ricoh Arena at these times too.

Further tickets may become available in the South Stand next week but that is subject to police and safety approval.

Hospitality packages for the Gillingham match will also be released early next week.

Development director Steve Waggott said: "The interest and excitement around the club's return to the city has been nothing short of phenomenal. To have sold all of the general tickets available so far already is testament to the supporters' desire to come and back their team and also to the staff who have worked unbelievably under intense circumstances.

"We know there have been teething problems with the systems but that was only because we wanted to come back to the city as soon as possible and selling 18,000 tickets in just a few days is still a wonderful effort - especially with so much else going on.

"If supporters don't have a ticket yet, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't get one. We've given 2012/13 Season Ticket holders until the day of the game to either renew their Season Ticket or buy a ticket for the game before it is released for sale.

"We are asking those supporters to get in touch to let us know if we can release those tickets for sale any sooner.

"We are also working over the weekend to see if we can open up more seats for sale and we will keep supporters up to date on that. Of course, we want to get as many Coventry City supporters into the stadium as possible because this is going to be a wonderful occasion for the club and the city."

2k season ticket holders
4k reserved until the day

Where have the other 10,000 tickets gone?

If I can't get a ticket and the telegraph stand is shut, I will be fuming!!!
Absolute joke......
I hate sisu, yet willing to give them a clean slate. They'd better not screw this up! It's a 32,000 seater stadium and as Waggot keeps banging on about "every 60p in to pound goes to Steven Presley".

Last I'd heard the telegraph had been opened to block 29, haven't seen anyone say they purchased tickets in blocks 30/31

Don't see why these are being held so long!

Tues/Weds should be plenty of notice

It is fucking ridiculous that I have been trying to buy tickets since yesterday morning online and they release this statement. Not happy.

Just asked the club on twitter about blocks 29-32 in the North Stand and been told they are sold out. Surely if that is the case the number of sales must be about 22k already. The whole of the East Stand, North Stand and West Stands are completely sold out. 4,000 season ticket holders seats cant be sold yet and around 6,000 seats in the South Stand the club are awaiting the Police allowing us to sell these!

Fully agree with this. For the sake of one game they should have been given 1 week. The Gillingham game should then have been opened up for General Sale. The following week season ticket holders should then have been reallowed to secure their old seats. Mind you I suppose it is easy to criticise the club. I'm sure some people would have moaned if they had done this.

away end holds 2,500, corp holds about 1,000 and while the police piss about im guessing 30,31 havent gone on sale incase they have to move blocks 10 and 11 if the police back off it should free up 2-3,000 tickets

Only our club would have this problem, can't see the other 17k not being made available

If this game isn't the highest on record for City at the Ricoh, the entire admin department needs sacking.

How much is the Gillingham allocation, will be annoying if they have like 4k seats for 500 of them

I'm sure any unsold will have to be sent back at a certain point, can't see them bringing many with it being a Friday night and on Sky

They won't be able to sell the to city fans if they're not able to segregate them on the concourse.

According to a comment on one of their forums Gillingham haven't received any tickets yet, they hope to be able to sell them on Monday if they arrive by then.

That suggests they've not been put anywhere in the ground yet.

Hopefully leaves the option of maximizing blocks open to home fans.

Speaking to certain Gillingham fans on the league one forum, it seems that due to it being on a Friday night, they won't sell any more than 700. To me, that means they should be given one block as far into the corner as possible.

There is a chance that we could have over 31,000 COVENTRY fans in the stadium, probably the only time we will ever get the opportunity. Hope the club gets this sorted out.

Question - How much of the 32,000 capacity can be sold, taking into account rewarding/policing/segregration? If we know this figure, which the club should know we can take a guess on the remaining tickets.

I had to move from block 29, moved PSL and 3x ST to block 11 in Sth Stand, got tickets this morning but when I opened the envelope it contain only Gilly tcks. Via twitter been told ST booklets had ran out but will be posted soon.

BUT have also been told via twitter that I will be contacted on Monday to discuss my PSL & ST ?? Has anybody else got ST in blocks are 10 or 11? Have you got your ST or just Gilly tcks? Is St Stand blocks 10/11 going to be open?

The Premier league grounds have tiny segregation. At the London clubs they don't even use up seats, just stewards!

Managed it against crewe.

Absolutely no excuse as to why they can't sell 30k to city fans.

So over half way to filling the stadium. Waggott said 18k sold so I go with that. That's 17k left.

We know gillingham haven't sold any yet so where have they gone? That's 17k, that's a huge amount to go missing.

I say give gillingham 1 blocks worth and we have all the rest of the ground so certainly over 30k Cov fans.

So exciting. (Still 2 points dropped today though)

The capacity isn't 35K.

It will be a PR disaster though if there are only 18K city fans in the stadium on Friday.

So pleased I persevered for 13 hours online to get tickets. I nearly gave up with a view to trying again on Monday.

32000 seats
4000 gillingham and segregation (leaves 28000) -
5000 season tickets not yet taken up (could be sold on the night)
leaves 23000
18000 sold - 5000 -not yet opened up

potentially another 10k tickets to sell

If there isn't at least 28k fans in that ground on Friday night it will just show once again that sisu aren't fit to run a football club.

For the sake of the club I am currently trying to give sisu the benefit of the doubt on some issues, but "sold out" when there are 15k seats still unsold is just incompetent.

The point that is being missed here is that the centre blocks of the North Stand still haven't been opened up. Forget the South Stand, we haven't even opened the North Stand properly yet! We were told the North Stand would be opened when the demand was there. Well, the demand is obviously there so why is it closed? Joke.

I suspect this has something to do with them buying time so that the ticket office isn't swamped again today and theyh can catch up before releasing more seats Monday. Fine, just say that!

I Agree , even allowing for people on holiday .Give lapsed season ticket holders until Wednesday night to buy a season ticket or buy the seat for the Gills game. They have all the email addresses and other forms of communication. Then Thursday morning sell them on.
premier club being sold from Monday I believe. Eon suite not going on sale at all .not sure why. So won't be a capacity crowd!,,,
