I have been reading this forum for a while but never posted. I was doing some digging around about our new board members as the name Tim Fisher and Calimere Point sounded fimilar. I found this article I'm not reading too much into this, but it was intesting to say the least.
"Cash strapped Charlton Athletic has been the subject of a management buy out by chairman Richard Murray. He has taken sole control of Charlton. New money has been injected into the club to reduce its debt burden, thus making it more attractive to new investors who are being actively sought.
Murray said: 'This has been a critical time for the club. Our future was uncertain, and financially this was potentially one of our darkest hours. However, agreement has been reached with my fellow directors for me to take sole control of the club through what is effectively a management buyout (MBO) of the plc subsidiaries. The new money I am injecting into the club will ensure we go into the new season with a competitive team.'
'I shall be appointing a new interim board of directors, and we will now go forward and actively seek new investment. To assist with this, I am appointing Tim Fisher, of Calimere Point, to work with me on devising an investment strategy for the club.' "
I have also heard the odd rumour that Calimere Point specialises in takeovers and mergers for sport and leisure industry, interesting times await, que Eastenders drums.
Welcome mortimer,i presume your username is to do with our great player from good times past, Dennis.
Anyway keep digging the more we know the more we can distrust them.
I live in a little village called Mortimer which is just outside of Reading.
One thing I didn't metion was on Charltons Wiki Page
10 October 2008 Charlton received an indicative offer for the club from a Dubai-based diversified investment company. However, the deal later fell through. What has got my attenion is I think that the other director is for a Dubai based investment company.
Well he joined Charlton in July and the club was sold by Christmas, so he's got a decent record. I wonder how Charlton's fans feel about their new owners.
