Reading the reports of a new stadium - The EFL has given us three seasons to basically open our new stadium - The club would have to announce a new site shortly after this Xmas as logically planning could take up to 12 months and building the stadium could take 18 months to 24 months depending on location

Looking forward to yet another thread where people say "But they're not going to build a stadium!" and an argument ensuing about being their for 3 years and people not attending St Andrews etc. Thanks.

If it was genuine (which it isn't) then providing brick 1 was laid prior to the three years expiring (or even no bricks but with land under their control and a planned start date for the build), not a chance we'd be kicked out. They'll simply extend the stay. SISU will know this and in all reality likely have a contingency plan of bullshit lined up for if they need it.

That’s ok as long as the football is also out of this world.

I’m staying out of those arguments these days. But they aren’t though

Maybe that's the reason we've been going short passing out from the back? - Hit it long from the kick off and it'd be half time before the ball landed. However I'm looking forward to seeing a 4-mile clearance upfield and Godden leaping 10 feet in the air to get his head on a cross.

Why are we re-engaging a land agent? I thought we'd never stopped looking for a site so surely the land agent has always been on board? :emoji_thinking:

it's just a distraction, one I'm fairly sure fisher mentions to divert everyone from the reality, which is that the Ricoh is the only real option and getting us to return should be where all effort should be concentrated.
Easy to type, several humungous obstacles to negotiate to make it happen in reality but talk of new stadiums is just head in the clouds stuff.

I did actually feel a (small) amount of anxiety/annoyance when dave Boddy (who i don't mind) when he trotted out the '20 years' bit about sorting Worcester's ground, and it still didn't happen. If we start getting to the point where it's double figures in terms of years (and I don't think it will be), I'm slightly concerned whether I'll ever see CCFC playing back in Coventry (the ramifications for our overall fanbase - and probable league position- would potentially be disastrous)

I mean if we got one season of Messi, Godden and Hiwula I’d probably forgive SISU for everything

There's probably more chance of Messi building a stadium than signing for us!

It's ok, if our stadium isn't ready in time, we could always play at wembley for the next 4 seasons!
We always win there anyway!

The EFL have currently given CCFC the ability to play outside of Coventry for up to three seasons if necessary, but the EFL will allow CCFC to return to Coventry at any point.”
or presumably, sort out a deal with the Ricoh - People say the EFL are bluffers and would not act if these terms were not met - Bury is an example of EFL will act if City dod not apply one of the two options

It's all irrelevant.
The EFL have given us 3 years, and in 3 years time they will give us another 3 years and so on.
As long as we continue to fulfill our fixtures it's all just bluster.
Now can we all just enjoy being top of the league and stop the petty squabbling!

No - Bury could not meet the CVA it’s totally different - they have allowed a club to play 10 years out of the city

Trying to point out that EFL do have a little bottle whatever the circumstances and if they let CCFC continue to change the goalposts every so often they will expel us as whatever CCFC getaway with lots other clubs and owners could follow suit

Bury failed the CVA it’s totally different - as long as we pay the bills they will not go against the club. How can they? The owners can say they’ve been thrown out and a deal will not be agreed. The EFL cannot decide what is a reasonable rent deal and the council have stated there is no land available for a stadium. This is a lawsuit against the EFL waiting to happen and then have neither the funds or desire to go there.

Don’t even want to go back to the Ricoh at this point, not a good stadium. Would much prefer a 15k stadium with room for expansion.

The EFL will not kick us out while we are still able to fulfil our fixtures. Honestly they need to have a look at their rules on stadiums. Derby shouldn’t be allowed to do what they did. Even being allowed to lease stadiums relatively short term is dodgy.

Why would club owners (the EFL) look into rules that restrict their options?

The whole thing needs a change with community ownership of club IP and stadia freeholds. That’s gonna take a Corbyn government if it stands a chance though and I don’t fancy the chances of that happening.

This is the kind of crap the right wing put out when it was announced so the Cons/BXP/LibDems aren’t going to do it. Labour’s football policy reveals what the party really thinks about business | Coffee House
