Time for a trust statement (4 Viewers)

There are now various splinter groups around with various actions.

The observer takes the most proactive stance on this.

Surely the trust has to get behind the campaign. In my mind they now need to make some form of statement expressing dismay at wasps actions regarding the Higgs centre and it's lack of enthusiasm to continue discussions with the football club.

It should advise all CCFC fans to boycott wasps matches going forward and ask the CET for a column to express the view and reasoning.

The threat to the club is wasps. There needs to be a concerted pressure from the club regarding it's heritage.

Ultimately wasps image has to be tarnished. All communications should centre around 1883, jimmy hill, 35 years in the top flight, the F A Cup etc.

It needs to galvanise some national sympathy and some awareness that heritage is threatened by a London based club looking to remove it from the city.

The extreme goal (difficult to achieve) is to totally tarnish the brand image if wasps. When their name is mentioned the association is completely negative. The organisation that ruined a club with a great tradition and many, many famous names. When a wasps fan is asked who he supports he should have his head down - ashamed and embarrassed.

This obviously would not happen over night but even the threat may work,

The trouble is, the damage has already been done and people (both Cov fans and the wider public) see CCFC and SISU as the same entity. My mate forwarded me a link to a thread on Gloucester rugby club's forum following the CCFC statment on Higgs and the comments were all 'Owner's fault / took the club to Northants / etc'.

Imagine Spurs' official site putting out a statement about their new ground and blaming say, local govt for something and everyone responding with 'ENIC are bunch of bahamas based tax dodging w@nkers, deserve to get screwed'.

You have not mentioned Sisu once in the above statements.
Is that trying to remove them from the discussion because most people just turn off and are not bothered when there involvement is mentioned.
How many CCFC fans go to Wasps matches, how many do both ? Wasps fans should be ashamed ? You do talk some drivel !!
The clubs heritage was watered down when they took us to Northampton. Further more Sisu investors will not allow a CCFC stadium to be built in Coventry (TF Quote)
Remove Wasps from the city ? Not a chance of getting that off the ground since most Coventry rate payers are not bothered. A lot are enjoying the higher sporting profile.

The only way of stopping this nonsense is getting Sisu away from our club and that's where are efforts should be.
Every organisation involved with Sisu have turned there backs and any CCFC fan who hasn't already, should do so as well.
All these organisations are now actively getting rid of Sisu by ................. well, actually doing nothing.
Just taking Sisu at their word when they say they are building there own facilities and planning without them.
"Just let it happen (help if you can )"

I am disappointed that The Trust have been slow to make a statement regarding the legal covenants inserted by The Higgs Trust, however I am not surprised.

And I'm almost certain it's not the Trust's fault this but others, but why the hell do we have many campaigns running at the same time? Why on earth didn't the Observer, Telegraph... all thebloody local media we have get behind the Trust, offer them some help for that matter, and make sure it's a united front there at least?

Just like Northampton, this threatens to be. Classic divide and rule.

When they have come out with quick statements before they've been slaughtered especially on here. Perhaps they are doing what I would do in this situation find some facts,talk to the parties concerned etc just a thought.

It's strange really. Wasps refused to withdraw planning application. People seemed to be annoyed and willing to fight. Charity block any long term deal for the academy. Everyone hates sisu again. Also been noted the can't trust them because of litigation. You know what people bleat on here about. Roll that line out which has already been accepted by the fan base. Very clever man pwkh. One thing though. Alan higgs was a lifelong Coventry City supporter. Think he would be proud of you?

It's a standard line isn't it, you could see the mood change completely after they rolled out the "its sisus fault" line.

PWKH is very clever, he certainly knows how to work the fans.

What does that mean though? Bleating?

Why for so many people is it black or white with no grey and locks firmly stuck on 1 set of people and 1 set of people only? People shrug their shoulders while watching their football club getting dry shagged in the arse, in the sand by 3 or 4 different companies and say "they have been outdone there", "they deserved it".

Surely, the best way would be to give those 3 or 4 companies a kickin, as well as the owners for making the club "deserve it". Those 3 or 4 companies will give a sob story though, they will spin the charm and the PR and it ends up with our fans handing them a tissue and giving them a cuddle. What's all that about?

It’s vital that the Academy is preserved, and I agree with the OP that we can’t afford splinter groups. But I don’t get the idea that it should be “The Observer’s Campaign”? Surely the focus has to be around the Trust, with both papers (and everybody else) supporting that, and nobody seeking to score points from it?

Also, I get the stuff about tarnishing Wasps’ image, and that is definitely an area where we could have leverage. But is it really a great idea to make this a “war on Wasps” before they are proven to have played a part in killing the Academy? I just don’t think that will bring about the unity we need – for example, I certainly can’t see the Telegraph backing that at this stage, or the many organisations, sponsors etc. who are currently happy to associate themselves with Wasps. However, as part of the campaign, I think it’s right to stress the negative consequences for Wasps if the Academy were lost through their actions. And that those negative consequences could go on for years, because CCFC fans wouldn’t let it go. There are many things we could do to be a very persistent pain for them on the image front.

You can’t call for unity and then adopt a stance that you already know many people won’t back (at least not yet). We need to try and prevent the Academy from being lost, not sacrifice it as part of a glorious but futile anti-franchise war. Just my opinion.

What stance won't people back though? Personally I think it should be going all out against:

Wasps
CSF
Council
SISU

In no particular order.

SISU have been absolutely hammered over the years and never has there been a reaction like there was to the 2 or 3 threads about protesting against Wasps the other day.. It obviously bothers them a lot.

Even if it isn't "all out" they need to know that ccfc fans won't put up with shit off them, as it stands all they need to do is put out a statement blaming sisu and they can get away with pretty much anything they want.

At the minute, Wasps, CSF and the council play it exactly how they want and where do they get called on anything they do? The moment anybody gives a little bit of a growl their way they just say "SISU said this" or "sisu did that". Not only does this mean that little growl towards other parties turns in to full on attack at SISU, everybody else gets away scot free.

I bet they absolutely piss themselves.

Totally agree, indeed I think I said that. I was only suggesting that tactically, while Wasps are still claiming they are willing and able to accommodate the CCFC Academy, it might be premature and bad tactics to declare all out unconditional war on them, as the OP seemed to suggest. Better to make clear that it will be all out war if they kill the hostage, and to try and get as many influential bodies/media as possible to sign up to that? In reality of course it’s probably already beyond our influence, like everything else.

And good luck with trying to get the people of Coventry to back a campaign of “CCFC fans against the Council, Wasps, CSF and SISU”. Sadly, most people in Cov don’t seem to give a toss unless we win a trophy, and even that theory hasn’t been tested for nearly 30 years

The same as Wasps promised that they wouldn't effect ccfc and crfc, the same as they made promises to crfc.

Sadly I think even if the Wasps over is proven in black and white to be a red herring (if for some reason the FA say it isn't good enough for example) they will just blame SISU and it will be back to square 1 again.

The increase in PR leading up to the "bombshells" dropped about Wasps / Higgs etc made it a clear giveaway something bad was going to happen before it did. Sadly too many people just swallow the PR.

People have come on here from certain parties with the sole intention just to start rumours / make people dislike other parties. This goes all the way back to 2011. That isn't a hunch or a anything else, it is a fact.

Waiting for the trust statement condemning the clause the higgs have inserted? Because while we understand, we must realise we shouldn't be using the future of talented footballers as a way of point scoring. As a charity that has assisted the club before we implore it to do the same again.

Just my opinion though bhsb. As I've said previously I'm aware the majority don't agree with my views.
